Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Tougher on the whole? Debatable. Cards running game is worse. Cards receiving corps is better than the Giants, but not by much. Nicks is pretty DAMN GOOD in his own right. And don't forget Manningham punishing Hall for Hall's lack of tackling skill.
Korn on the Kolb might be good, might not be good. We hit him, and he'll screw things up. Guaranteed.
Its debateable, but I clearly see the Cards better. Ive stated before Nicks is the best player on the field for the Giants period. He's incredible. But the Cards' TEs, WRs, and QB are better than the Giants, right now. Kolb has been playing at a high level all preseason and once again in their first game, Eli has struggled all camp and obviously his first game. The thing that has surprised me the most, is Benie Wells...all reports outta camp was that this guy was a monster. He had finally gotten his fundementals down. Showed first game. The Oline is their weakness and we can attack it fo sho, BUT we are gonna have to play much stronger in the secondary. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Cards offense might be better than the Giants, but I still like our D more.
And I definitely like our O vs. their D. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Skins 34 - arizona 17
|
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Redskins 38
Cards 35 Have to stick to my initial prediction that we win by a field goal. |

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
i checked the baltimore tv guide and the skins game wont be televised b/c of the ravens game is also at 1 pm. . . . sly fox is going to be packed early now, to buy their 5 dollar beers
Cards offense might be better than the Giants, but I still like our D more.
And I definitely like our O vs. their D.
I agree. On the whole their linebackers are not very good in coverage. Their secondary lacks talent aside from Peterson (Wilson has slowed down) and Peterson is still making rookie errors. Our receivers, especially our TE's, should have a fine day. Of course, all of this is dependent on Good Rex making an appearance. |

I don't see Zona scoring anything but FG's. We win.

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I stopped after the first post:
And the Cards barely slipped by a Panthers team that won 2 games last year, and got lit up by a rookie QB.
Ditto! I feel like the ending of Billy Madison and feel dumber for having read some of their statements. Probably the dumbest thing they said was that they had an advantage at TE and one dude even went as far as saying they have the best TE set in the league?!?! I know our combo is on the rise and isn't there yet but Jeff King and Todd Heap, seriously? Best combo to me is Antonio Gates and whoever his backup is or Gradkowski and Hernandez in NE IMO. Now as far as a prediction goes, I think their passing offense is obviously the main thing we should fear, but I still see us winning by about 10 points as we have both a decent passing attack against their suspect secondary and a solid rushing game especially if we see more packages with Helu and/or Torrain to mix it up. and we r finally getting pressure on defense without blitzing, but when we do blitz mcintosh, fletcher, hall, etc were getting atleast a hit on Manning almost every time. |

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
This is going to be a great game. I'm totally pumped for it. If we can become 2-0 before heading to Dallas then that would be awesome.
Only big matchup I think will make the difference is Kerrigan vs Heap/Shockey. I'm hoping our stud from Purdue doesn't get into a miss match to many times on an island. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Shockey?

That would be great, i just hope to god no one on the Skins is looking past Arizona cause we will get our ass whipped. |

I am pretty sure we can count on Shanny ensuring that. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I counted this game in my win column so I hope the Skins pull this one out as well. I just didn't and still don't see the Cards being as good as the Giants. Their WR's scare me a little but otherwise they are not as good as the Giants.
Offensively I see us having a better run game this week then last week. I think we could put up some yards in passing. Defensively I still think the Giants had a better OL, so I foresee us getting a lot of pressure on Kolb hopefully forcing him to throw early or causing interceptions. Kerrigan was a spark. I'm expecting all the Skins DL to be hungary and they see pass I think we all will see everyones hands shooting up to block the ball. Skins win 31-25 |

LOL, Redbirdfan is delirious.
I believe our def cooridinator will come up with a plan. I think our offense is much better then the giants, and i believe we have the better running back and Qb. Cards win 31 to 27.
The Cards have a better offense? better QB? I don't think so. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Since that playoff run they've lost Warner, Boldin, Hightower, DRC, Rolle and Dansby. Too many good players there to replace and that's one of the reason they're not a good team anymore.
and.... lets not forget this is home field advantage for the Skins. Most prognosticators will tell you if both teams are somewhat equal pick the home team simply due to noise. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
There is no such thing as a easy game in the NFL. The team that is more prepared, more motivated and executes better will win. The Skins need the same intensity and purpose they showed against the Giants. Sometimes its harder to beat the teams you are supposed to than the division rivals. Redskin teams in the past have played up or down to the level of competition. I would like to see for once, the Skins starting off strong and ending strong. A thorough butt whipping from beginning til end.

The Cards have a better offense? better QB? I don't think so.
They're all fawning over Kolb's QBR when Football Outsiders has him with 74 DYAR and his TQBR is under 50. As long as we can hit him a lot, we can make him ineffective. |

He was Mr. checkdown when we played him in Philly.. Hopefully we can do this again.

I would say a comment like that if say we were the Packers but the Redskins really are not a team that will look past anyone. We will be the underdog most of the season. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
This is the NFL...home of any given Sunday and letdowns. We will find out on Sunday if the Skins are who we think they are.
21-13 Skins. |

21-13 Skins.
Yes this is an important game to establish the redskins in the NFC. I can argue (with just myself) that it may be more important than cowboys game because it will show how the redskins handle "trap" games. And how they handle lesser profile teams. And Whether they continue their effort, energy, and intensity. If they do-- then I predict a big redskins win: 35-10 |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Their Defense is going to make Rex look like he's MVP material..watch...this is not your normal Rex Grossman...He's been reprogramed

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I am actually very nervous about this game. I just want BB to take one to the house on the opening kickoff. That will alleviate my anxiety.

Man I hope so. It would be so nice to have an offense that features a pro bowl quarterback and running back. Short of Portis and Brad Johnson, these are things we have lacked here in DC for a long while. Still, its only week 2, and I think we will have a much more clear picture of the teams true identity after this week. Nice to start the season off with a divisional and conference win. Lets find out if we are contenders, or just a .500 team......But I do think that anyone thinking this team will win 6 games or less this year is fooling themselves...... |

What I wanna see from Rex isn't nesecarily a 517 yard tom brady performance...lets face it Tom is great he will go to the hall first ballot see im a history major..and history has shown that All the Redskins really need is a consistant qb not a Hall of famer consistant QB play (with the Exeception of Joe theisman and Sonny) Mark Rypien and Doug Williams will probably never see themselves in a hall of fame bust. Brad Johnson, Rypien, and as much as I hate saying this Mark Brunell were all consistant when the skins did well...I wanna see Rex be consistant the supporting cast will make him great. I disagree with the experts that the NFC east is all about the QB position...Eli couldn't hold his brothers jock even when they won the superbowl. I love that our team is the most un drama team in the NFL and the spotlight is on the cowboys and eagles.....I love that we have talent but no one wants to recognize it..If were playing in Febuary on that Sunday and we come out the victor I promise you we STILL won't get respect. Our D is gonna crush captain checkdown Kolb |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
We had better run much better than we did vs NY , a shootout with AZ could get ugly . I doubt they can handle a steady dose of Hightower and Torain , as this is an early start after traveling to the east coast . I believe west coast teams lose 88 % of games played back east with a 1 pm EST start . Run , run and run some more ... play action and hit Davis , Moss and Cooley down the seem for some big plays .

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Hopefully it's nothing like my Franchise game on Madden.
Rex Grossman 22-54 198 1/1 I play with realistic sliders you can find online to make the game harder, but this game was ugly. |

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I think the Redskins team this season are determined to win their home games. Shanny has been preaching defending home field. Over the years the Redskins have not made teams pay when coming to FedEx field.
The keys to winning week 2 1. Hightower 100 yard day 2. Win the time of possesion 3.Rex no turnovers 4. Rex spreading the ball to our wr, te and rb 5. O-line keeping Rex clean 6. Defense keeping Cards under 250 yards passing, Under 70 yards rushing. 7. Special teams Gano not missing FG's. Prediction Redskins 31-Cards 17 |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Oh yea and we have a 60/50 chance to win this game just like the Giants game. LOL
Ok my bag 60/40 chance. HTTR |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Some predictions for this game
Kerrigan gets his first sack Fitz catches 2 tds Moss has over 100 yrds and a TD Fred Davis has more yards than cooley We knock around Kolb pretty good, think he has 2 turnovers Our O Line looks good but not great against a front 7 with some very good players Skins 28-Cards 20 |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I just want a win
|
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I think that Helu will see more playing time this week. I hope he uses his opportunity well. I can't wait to see him take one to the house.
|
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Both teams are largely unknowns at this point. Sure, the cards racked up some yards but v. a poor team, and they won on a punt return.
We put up some #s v. a beat up defense. Our D looked so much better, but let's not forget the giants o line is rebuilding & they lost some depth at wr. |
