Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Yup. Been saying that for a while. Though I think it's just as likely we keep our first pick and then use our 2nd rounder and maybe a 2013 pick to move up into the mid first round. Most likely for Tannehill
Do they like tannehill or is that just your gut? I think tannehill is a real talent but will need time to sit and develop. |

I've been around long enough to get when people are telling me something without directly saying it. And what they've been saying is they like Tannehill. |
Jones or Tannehill? Who's better?
I personally think Jones but only because I've seen him play a bunch
Jones is definitely better, and it's not even close. I'm optimistic with Jones, because he didn't have a running game and he wasn't sucking until Broyles went out which can be replaced with an NFL wr. |

If they like Tannehill they obviously haven't seen Landry yet. |

Im really starting to warm up to the idea of a Blackmon in the 1st and then trading up for Tannehill/Foles . |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
I think Tannehill is more athletic and is a better playaction QB but we will see

Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
I like Foles, Moore and Jones in this order.

Do you really though? You're an OU fan right? Remember how Landry was playing pre-Broyles injury? The guy looked like a lock to get taken top 5. Not to mention OU had NO running game. He's bad with his reads, always locked into one receiver, but his raw skills and throwing motion are much better than Tannehill and Foles. Kellen Moore is the only other guy I would actually have any hope with as a franchise QB. |

There's no questions surrounding Luck, watch the game tomorrow. He will prove why he is highly regarded on the big stage. |

Another guy to watch tomorrow is Cousins from Mich. St.

Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Jones or Tannehill? Who's better?
I personally think Jones but only because I've seen him play a bunch
This is what I said about Ponder and Locker last year, and I think it kind of applies to Jones and Tannehill. Just replace Ponder with Jones and Locker with Tannehill "When I watch Ponder, I see a guy who will be steady and perhaps underappreciated. I'm not sure though he's going to be a factor when a big play is needed. But then with Locker, I see a guy who can totally turn a game around on one play...except he could turn it around the wrong way. I like Ponder a lot, but there's something really unique about Locker when he's at his best that Ponder can't compare to." Foles is a bit of a wildcard in my opinion. Like I've said before, I've seen practicing and he's unreal in practice. But he's not the same QB in a game. And I don't know why that is. I love Kellen Moore but I don't think he's a QB that should be taken in the first 3 rounds and I haven't heard of any Redskins interest in him. Keep an eye on Chandler Harnish later in the draft. |

Terrible terrible terrible. Mich State is my favorite college team and I can't wait for the next QB to start playing. |

I still think Landry Jones is the best option and should be the only option, once he learns to look for his 3rd options/check downs he's going to be great. |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Dan Marino did. Its not about numbers it about style. Brees is a passer who can elude pressure and extend plays. RGIII is another version of Michael Vick (a runner who is an ok passer) and that doesnt win Super Bowls. Sure RGIII threw for a bunch of yards but in college WRs are open by yards and in the pros its inches so college numbers are often misleading. I'm just not sure about RGIII's accuracy.
YAWN!!!! Let's trade with Carolina and get Claussen. Would that make you happy? This rebuild is gonna be long. |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
I'd personally prefer to get Blackmon if RG3 isn't available for an outrageous price, but if Blackmon isn't available I'd like us to trade down and get a good olineman like DeCastro from Stanford or Reiff from Iowa and then make the selection of Kellen Moore in a later round as our future qb. He's so similar to Drew Brees in stature, arm strength, and accuracy it's not even funny and all he does is win.
|
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
I dont want him. He's not a pro style QB and that college style QB doesnt win Super Bowls.
They said the same thing about Newton, and he's breaking records. And not to say Cam isn't really smart, but the experts say RG III is super smart and will master any playbook placed in front of him. DRAFT HIM! |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
My biggest concern about RG3 seems to have been averted....at least for now.
Early life and high school career
Griffin was born in Japan, where his parents, Robert Jr. and Jacqueline, both U.S. Army Sergeants, were stationed. The family later lived in the U.S. State of Washington, and then moved to New Orleans, before finally settling in Copperas Cove, Texas in 1997.[2][3]
7 years old, still young enough to be indoctrinated as a Cowboys fan. This could get tricky. |

DRAFT HIM!
Do people realize that Cam has 34 TD's against 16 Turnovers? Thats insane. |

If they like Tannehill then I need to know the veteran QB that is part of this plan. Any idea? My perception of Tannehill is that he needs more time then the "lets let Rex start the year as the placeholder" strategy. We would need a veteran we can win with next year and there are not many of those available unless they are Flynn believers. I like that they didn't force it on a QB they didn't love but the problem with waiting until draft #3 to get the QB is that a lot of the development time is lost since the pressure to win games starts to ramp up from here on in. Personally, I would be patient enough for Tannehill to develop, just not sure the entire fan base and ultimately Snyder will be. |

I think it would be nice to get someone like Blackmon in the first and then maybe trade up to get Ryan Tannehill. I think that could potentially be a stellar tandem. Tannehill throwing to Blackmon, a healthy Hankerson, and Moss/Gaffney. That sounds like a really strong WR corp to me. |

Lure Matt Flynn in to start next season, draft Blackmon in the first, draft Tannehill, and I think the Redskins are set.

I personally think Jones but only because I've seen him play a bunch
As you know I started out a Jones fan and won't cry if we get him. But I've come around to seeing that Tannehill should be our guy. Fits the Shanny scheme (either Mike or Kyle's) and can make plays. Smart, tough, good arm. Makes plays with both arm and legs. |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Jones or Tannehill? Who's better?
It depends on what traits you value more. Both Tannehill and Jones are upper echelon arm strength/velocity in this draft, I would put both ahead of Griffin and Luck. Jones has more playing experience but I'd give Tannehill the edge in physical skillset: slighty better arm, much better athlete, but overall they're in the same class. Tannehill's also benefits from playing in a direct variant of Kyle's offense, so he's got the scheme familiarity going for him. |

Smoot isn't the only insider I know of saying the same thing. This other guy has been talking about Skins liking Tannehill since about mid-season. He's also commented that the Skins currently have RGIII rated above Luck. Now that doesn't mean very much, but at least it gives us a few options instead of having all of our eggs in one basket. |

It means the Redskins are snake bitten, they could have had Barkley or RGIII and probably will have to settle at QB with lesser talent. My guess is RGIII pulls a Barkley, is Baylor winning the BCS championship bowl next season? NO. |

Matt Barkley I saw coming from a mile away, but RG3 is guaranteed to be drafted #4 or higher, I just can't see how you turn that down after having WON the Heisman.. With that being said, I still don't expect us to draft him, but I always look forward to that optimism on draft day. |

As exciting as RGIII could be and with a potential ceiling higher than all of them he still comes with some risk. |

Jake Locker would have been a great, albeit frustrating, fit. Not unlike that of Tebow in Denver. I mean on one hand he's barely completing 50% of his passes but he's putting the ball in the end zone and not turning the ball over. |
Some seem to believe .RGIII isn't really in love with football and wants to be in the Olympics that's been rumored around here for a while if that's true then I don't want a QB that isn't all for the NFL, never know when he would hang it up
