Just like a Dr. wouldn't stake their reputation writing prescriptions for illegal performance enhancing HGH steroids for professional baseball players? Deception and illegal actions in medicine are just as prevalent as in all other industries. I believe it would be naive to think otherwise.
lol foreign doctors? That particular doctor was in Canada, and most went to him because he would prescribe HGH. This wasn't some big time doc like Dr. Andrews with the Redskins. Notice he wasn't giving out HGH to players. Also, your point is invalid the moment the Colts neurosurgeon cleared him as well. Even if he got some random doctor to clear him, the team doctor wouldn't have. In fact, it would have been in the Colts best interest if he hadn't cleared. |
Then why did Irsay refute the Colt's own Dr. assessment?
Irsay is saying he hasn't passed a team physical, therefore he hasn't been cleared to play for the Colts. PM's Dr. is saying his neck is sound, which is true, the arm is another story. Both sides are just politicking at this point. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
It could just be that Peyton has not taken an official Colts physical exam recently. If irsay is going to spout that he has not been cleared by the Colts then he should tell everyone the date of the last failed Colts physical.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
Well everyone seems to very against what I have said, and maybe I am wrong on all accounts previously mentioned. As I said, I'm not a doctor. I just think it is hard to believe with the condition that he has and all the surgeries he has been through that he can't be 100% next season. At the end of the day I just don't want to take a risk on a 36 year old guy with a degenerative neck disease and three neck fusions to lead our football team.

Haha, I am a quiet guy by nature and I guess it just translates the boards as well, and I take this time to personally thank you SS, Matty and everyone else for the quality posts that have kept me entertained and informed over the last 4 years. Hopefully I am turning a page and will someday get out of this NEWB avatar. But you're also correct, if the brass thinks that Colt is the answer to anything I will think chaos theory makes more sense than the thinking of the Redskins FO. Not to say that they currently aren't far off. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
Hypothetically, what if you could sign Peyton and hold onto your #6 overall pick and take Tannehill there. Or even trade down some and take Tannehill (or whatever QB you prefer) and add more picks.
In other words, what's worth more Luck/Bradford/RG3 starting now and a significant loss of draft picks or Tannehill (or whoever) starting in 2 years with all your draft picks and maybe more?
Indirectly, I don't care about players' salaries or the salary cap. What's ****s with me is the "Dream Team" fallacy. Manning and the "highest paid quarterback" nomenclature that comes along with signing him and being able to continue to build the team through the draft sounds great. And no, don't draft Tannehill or any QB at 6th overall unless it's Luck or RG3. And do you guys think Manning will have some influence on the draft? Are we still in hypothetical land? Good. Manning may not be peeking into the war room come draft day but, it would be a smart thing to put in a few cogs to keep Manning from appearing over-the-hill. One has to consider that there hasn't been a legitimate QB groomed under Manning. Why think Tannehill, Cousins, or whoever will be the first? The Skins would be better off Signing Archie... |

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
So some doctor cleared him? Did the people in the NFL actually clear him? I have to say Manning is one of the most media savy athletes ever... and I think this is his way of forcing the owners hand. Also couldn't they wait a week til the Super Bowl is over with? Talk about raining on your lil' brothers parade.
who in the world said peyton released ANY info? just because every sports outlet knows how great the guy is, and is jacking him off, dont blame this shit on him. His owner is the idiot in the silver suit trying to wiggle out of the situation. Talk about lack of professionalism. Peyton Manning is the ultimate professional. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
He is NOT healthy, I guarantee you that. No one that has had 3 neck fusion surgeries in 10 months is healthy at this point or IMO even by the beginning of next season. And I will bet everything I own on the fact that he will never play at as high a level as he has in the past IF he even ever plays again at all. I know everyone is enamored with the fact that we could get him for cash instead of picks, but I just think it is not the direction we should be going.
Let's say this happens: 1) We sign Peyton Manning and draft Tannehill in the draft. 2) Peyton starts game 1 of the season, takes a big hit and is knocked out for the season and possibly career because of his previous history with neck issues. 3) Tannehill or possible other QB on the roster starts? Tannehill would not be ready, and a back up would most likely not be able to sustain what is necessary to win many games. Where are we now? Out a lot of cash and not in a position to have a viable QB leading our team once again. And I'm not saying I am only for trading up and giving away picks for a top level QB, I am just saying I'm not for taking a risk on Manning.
WOW, where in the world did you get your MD? CJU? He does'nt,fans want hime becuase the fans think everyone wants to come here and play. If Peyton wants to extend his career he'll go somewhere warm and even he admits he plays his best in a dome, don't rule out Arizona just yet they can dump Cobb and they have everything in place if Peyton wanted to play. |
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
When did Peyton get diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis? That is his brother, they never linked him to the disorder.
|
Re: Peyton manning cleared to play
I guess the real issue is what does he look like throwing the ball.

I heard that to...Check My BLOG.... If I was PM, I would be looking for a team in position to make a SB run and needed a QB. He only has a few seasons left...probably. That really is not us as we have a little more work to do I would think. |
Based on the evidence of spinal stenosis being a narrowing of the spine that deteriorates over time and that three spinal fusions in the same place over a 10 month period is not reassuring in the fact that it is getting better, more likely that it is getting worse.
Although I am not a Dr. or medical expert, I am fairly confident from what I have looked into the matter that a typical spinal fusion is only needed on a specific vertebrae once. People often have multiple fusions if they have a neck and spinal disorder, but on different vertebrae. The fact that he has had three surgeries on the same area is, IMO, a very telling outcome and not in a positive way.
Seeing as how Peyton doesn't have Spinal Stenosis what are you talking about? |
