Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I read somewhere (either profootballfocus or twitter) that Stanford Routt led the league in TD's allowed (9) and penalties (17) among corners. No Thanks! Also I loved the idea of getting Brandon Carr, then I noticed that Carr would go against the teams no. 2 WR, which makes him less attractive to me as a FA option.

Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
the only real CBs i'd look at would be grimes or drafting claiborne.

Finnegan, Tarrell Thomas, Tracy Porter..you wouldn't go for one of them either? |

You can add Carr to the list

I'm sure they are. But they just gave 9 mil per year to Flowers, so you have to wonder how wise it would be to sign another CB to elite level money. I'll be watching what kind of a tender Will Middleton gets. He could be a major FA sleeper, imo. |
Interesting stuff.
Bates back with Cutler is a good move for the Bears because Mike Tice in charge of the passing game was sure to be a disaster. The Chiefs kinda screwed Zorn over though.
Not sure how. He turned down their offer to be the OC. I don't understand why they are willing to let him walk, but not interview for the other OC job in Chicago. |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I never met Zorn but from all accounts I've heard from others who have he's a really nice guy who people foolishly believe is a pushover. He's not the innocent victim in these multiple dismissals from teams he's had over the years. He shrewdly plays sides is what I've heard and that ultimately leads to locker room strife

He did not turn down their offer to be OC. You explain how they screwed him over in your own post. They denied him an interview with the Bears and then passing him over for their own OC job. In the meantime the Bears hired Bates as their QB coach and other coaching spots around the league have been filled. |

I'd add carr... I'm not sure those other 3 are anything more than trading out one part for another. if we can cut hall, sign them and save cap i guess, but eh... |

I know in this case it's probably Jim Harbaugh who denied him permission because that's in Harbaugh's best interests of the team and keeping it together, but if I were Donatell I'd probably be slightly upset at first that I've been denied the opportunity to interview for a chance to keep moving up the coaching ladder. Sure, I'd probably get over it eventually and just get back to work intent on proving myself some more, but whose to say he would feel the same way as me? You never know how many opportunities you're going to get, so you gotta take advantage of them when they present themselves. |

Eff Randy Moss. Nobody wants that clown anymore. He and TO need to buy a place together and be roommates. When talent is no longer able to compensate for the headaches you bring, you'll soon be unemployed. |

Was it ideal at the time? No, but as long as the Giants D took care of business (which they did) it wouldn't have mattered, (which it didn't). Besides, FG's are never guaranteed either, just ask our ST unit. |

Plus, the guy has had it drilled in his head his whole life to seek the goal line with gusto. Then, that one time, he's supposed to automatically fight that conditioning? Obviously it can be done, as Brian Westbrook proved. But it is difficult. |

That too. It's not easy to burst through a line at full speed, and then fall down at the 1 while making sure the ball doesn't break the plane, even in the event the Patriots defenders try to push you in (which I think they were preparing to do). |
Re: Around the NFL - Offseason thread
I don't know. I mean if it were for me, it'd be really hard to resist getting the opportunity to score a TD in the Super Bowl. I probably would have run up and down the goal line for a few seconds. Maybe done a moonwalk or something...and then scored.
