So is it offical that its 3 firsts and a 2nd? Or might be we be getting a later round pick(s) somewhere too?

I mean, I wanted RGIII, I'm happy we got him... think it's too much, no doubt...

In team sports one guy isn't going to make a huge difference, unless you have a decent supporting cast. This team is deficient in too many areas to win, even with RG III. That is why I think this might bite us in the ass. Yeah Manning, Brees, Favre, and Rodgers won SBs, but their respective teams were teeming with Pro Bowl talent, talent in which we do not have right now. If we had a raelly good O line and a solid Wr corp and a D that could at least hold a team below 21 points, this deal would have been fine, but the team is like swiss cheese with the gaping holes we have in true starting caliber players. It is a great way to keep Fedex packed though!

Your smartass self said that you've 'seen' him give up a sack. Apparently you don't know what a sack is cause he never gave one up in college.

Fastforward to draft day raiders pick him Kiper says 'he never allowed a sack in college'

fastforward some more and Veldheer got a probowl alternate nod and recognition from other writers all of who bringing up that he never allowed a sack in college.

Yes. If Tannehill turns out to be very good, we will have been not just raped, but gang raped.
Everyone needs to realize it's 2 1sts and 2nd. We swapped 1st rounders, so when you say we gave up a 1st rounder, it was for a 1st rounder, so that's essentially actually a net gain, since that swap represents four slots at the top of the 1st round.

So 2 1sts and a 2nd. I don't love that it's the 2nd this year and not the 3rd, but hey, if he ends up a top NFL QB, then who cares really? Gotta give to get.
Good post Scud. In the end it's all about the bottom line (in your post.) If he turns out to be an elite qb, nobody will care about the price we paid to get him.

And on a side note, it definitely feels good to have the qb position taken care of, hopefully for the next decade minimum.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft

Fred Davis as tight end
Hankerson as reciever
possibly jackson as the other
good running game
finally a quarterback to provide leadership and ability
an underrated oline that needs depth because of injuries
a good pass rush with two possible premier pass rushers
only problem areas are safety, corner, we need another inside linebacker, and oline depth. if we draft well we could be a playoff contender for years to come.

You're the same person that was rooting against the Skins for the PAST two years around midseason. The Skins still had to give up a lot to get their QB and without tanking games like you wanted.

RG III would have to be a lot better than Elway, Favre, Young, Marino, to to win with our team as it stands right now. We basically put all our eggs in one basket ala Shuler way back when. Thing is if RG III is a dud, we don't have a Frerotte or Trent Green to at least keep us somewhat competitve. Beck and Grossman suck!

Is this the same Mel Kiper that said Jimmy Clausen was gonna go in the top 5?

One thing this deal does for us, getting it done now, is give us some leverage with courting potential free agents, especially a big time receiver.

Gotta figure out how to shore up the D and the O-line as well...not going to be easy.

But hey, chances are RG3 will be a good one for some time, but dang...can't get over the price. Hopefully this time next year I will be over it :)

That was actually specifically for you (the veldheer thing) cause that always stuck in the back of my mind and I was going to politely bring that up to you on a draft board but like I said I'm so amped right now I'm jumping around like a kid at christmas that we got griffin. You must have missed a lot of drops by our receivers, or the terrible O line play due to starters being injured, etc. Fred Davis, Fletch, Kerrigan and Helu were our heroes last season, that was pretty much it. Hightower was fine till he got banged up, then he broke his leg. Just before he broke his leg he was only getting 2 ypg his last two games. Also, I think our starting O line isn't really all that hot. Throw in the probability of losing Landry and Fletch and well you have a lot of holes, especially if they trade Orakpo to try and get some picks back. Now we have to pray we find another Cooley gem or two in the mid to late rounds this season to actually make the 2-7 rounds worthwhile.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Stupid. You just traded away 3 badly needed starters for one. What happened through getting more picks like NE and building steadily. This kid isn't a Manning or Elway or Luck type out of college. He is a very good QB no less, but played in a weakend Big 12 that happens to be defensively deficient most of the time. Snyder has done it again, got the fans snagged on the hot sexy pick, hoping it will pan out. I think BA and Shanny are feeling the heat so they went against the plan to save their asses. I like RG III a lot, but 3 first rounders for a still unproven commodity at the NFL level is not wise.
I agree. Someone else in this draft or in free agency is going to turn out to be a better QB and the team who didn't give everything up to get that QB will be more successful. Flynn, Tannehill, Weeden, Cousins, etc. Do we even know Cleveland was a threat? If they got Flynn, we would have been in the driver's seat. This seems like a move of the previous regime. Competing against themselves.

Nah, we got our QB. I wanted us to lose for Luck. Hey, atleast with that we wouldn't be giving up 3 firsts! But I'm happy with Griffin. It is chemistry to. If we had tanked our season some glue guys like Fletch wouldnt have come back.

I'm just happy to have Griffin.
