Love #59 but he's clearly slipping. He's missed a lot of tackles this year.

I'm afraid to say it but this could be his last year, as a Redskin. :( It figures I've been searching for years to get his jersey when I finally do its after he starts slipping. Not that I care. Londons been a great player and I'm still going to rock it! |

+ he's been getting eaten up by TE's in coverage, since the NO game other teams have noticed and are exploiting it. |
So we are gonna ignore the fact that he played DE in his rookie season when he had 11 sacks?
He was a stand up OLB buddy. They would blitz him. |
Re: Defensive Parts
All of a sudden Fletcher isn't good anymore? I've been seeing people say that around here for the past few weeks. Fletcher has 73 tackles in 9 games which puts him on pace for him to have as many tackles as he had in 2008, 2009, and 2010. I see absolutely no drop off whatsoever from him.
London is not having a very good year. In 2011 he was rated the #8 inside LB and had 14 missed tackles in 16 games. In 2012 Fletch has 14 missed tackles in 9 games so expect that number to climb over the next 7 games. In coverage he was targeted 54 times in 1033 snaps,2012 he has been targeted 55 times in 607 snaps. Offenses have found great success throwing against him getting Tight Ends matched up against him. London is also dealing with the hammy issue and vertigo which do not help his play. If London was 28 or 29 you might chalk it up to a bad year and expect a rebound, at 37 usually you decline rather than improve. Fletchs contract is structured so the team can move on this off season pretty easily so we will see what happens. No shame in declining production at 37 years old either. Hell of a career but signs are there its coming to a end. |

I can't begin to imagine Fletcher not playing in middle LB or inside LB for the Redskins.

He's looked a bit slower, missed a few tackles he would have made last year, and been trucked a time or two. It's one of two things, either the nagging health issues (balance, hammy) are effecting him or they're excuses for London finally aging. Either way, it's not the precipitous decline some bellyache about. Looks pretty gradual to me. Given the fact we NEED big talent infusions at RT, and three of four secondary spots I don't think ILB should be a real priority given the limited resources we have. Fletcher could also be helped significantly by a better scheme. He's still one of the top three pure MLBs in football. |

You're right imo, but I'll say this...Orakpo will make a better RDE in the 4-3. |

I watched some of his rookie 4-3 highlights, and he was blitzing but he would also have his hand in the dirt, so we were both wrong/right-right/wrong. Orakpo is a huge loss, and maybe our best pass rusher, but he, like Kerrigan, have limited moves, and problem which doesn't matter if its 3-4 or 4-3. |

Thanks but there are others who can provide info. Plus, the site was around long before I got here and will be here after I go. And off-site I've moved further and further away from the Redskins over the years so it actually takes a lot more digging. And I've burned a few bridges in the process. And, sometimes I'd just like to talk Skins and give an opinion w/o the assumption it's some "inside info" |

Re: Defensive Parts
If only it were so simple. You don't know how many PMs I get. "Hey man, why'd you say you think Kedric Golston's getting cut. Did you hear something?" "Hey SS, so what's the word on Haslett. I saw you said he wasn't even the first choice. Tell me"
Woe is me. Anyhow, that's neither here nor there |

Good Luck with this lol 8 years on Extremeskins and I have tried to "just talk skins and give my opinion", never works. That privilege is essentially taken away because every post has to have a hidden meaning to what is actually going on in Ashburn. We started doing the podcast to get back some of that fun of just talking about the team. Fans thirst to get information first to discuss and tell all their friends will never let you post in peace smoot..gift and a curse. I don't check PMS, eventually it will fill up and your box cant accept anymore:) |

I highly doubt that's true for many. If I had a choice in keeping Smoot the insider or Smoot the poster, I'd rather have Smoot the poster. I really can't say I value his intel more than I do his posts. (as well as many of you here) Besides, we need people to balance out the level of craziness that Goat brings...lol
If only it were so simple. Tell me"
Translation: My mancrush for the Jets is at a all-time high with Sanchez and Tebow on the same team!! :laughing- Seriously though, I think some key things to remember when you have people with inside information in your midst. 1) Respect their privacy. Don't ask them who they are or how they know. Either take the info or don't. 2) Understand the intel they give at the time is accurate. It may not be in 1 hour or 5 days, but it's accurate at the time given. The NFL is so fluid and ever changing that what is a sure fire trade (or signing) now, might not happen at a later time. Seen too many insiders get blasted b/c their intel didn't come to fruition. I call these people, ****ing idiots. 3) Give them their space. If they want to give intel, they will. If not, they won't. No need to hound them via PMs to get the scoop. If they want to say it, they will do so on the boards. 4) Appreciate it. It's that simple. A simple.....Hey thanks smoot for dropping the 411!!". Smoot, hang around guy. Even if you decide not to give out info anymore. We need somebody to counter the Crazy Canuck. |
Why isn't Gomes playing? Has he fallen out of favor with the coaches? Re: Defensive Parts
Luck ain't afraid to kick a little ass. I like the guy. But I like our guy better. In a way, it gives me even more hope knowing that he has been doing what he has been doing being held back in a way. Optimism is very contagious, and even though I am down on Shanahan and the regime, I am very high on RG3, Almo and Perry Riley. I think all three of them are going to be absolute kick ass players, and Im glad they are on our team.

I wonder what happened to him. But the fact that the safeties are struggling I find it odd that the coaches won't put Gomes in there considering that he started most of last season. |
Re: Defensive Parts
Well an app I have says the Washington Post is reporting the Skins tried out 3 Safties/CB's and 2 LB's. I don't. Are who they are at this point they should be equal to or greater then what we have now.
According to the Post none were signed as far as they know. |

They have to have some sort of talent. Just look at Andre Brown who was on our team last year off the practice squad and now he's having a good year with the NY Midgets. |

Not nit-picking or being argumentative but I think the dig on London's pass coverage is a half-truth. The key is one-on-one coverage vs zone. London was never elite one-on-one and now being a tick slower he's actually a liability. But if you leave him covering the middle of the field London has shown (no surprise here) elite QB/play recognition and puts himself in position to break up passes and get a few interceptions. In other words one of his greatest talents, football IQ, is being minimized when he's forced into man coverage. His talent/effectiveness is minimized anytime you take him away from the middle of the field. London should always be "covering" the middle of the field or blitzing, run or pass, because that is maximizing his skill level. Very similar to Urlacher actually, who's legs are much further gone than London's but the Bears scheme keeps him right in the middle and he's already got an INT this year. London, IMHO, is a superior MLB to Urlacher today, but our guy is playing way out of position. ...and it's so effing obvious, makes me want to throw my glass of scotch at the tv Hate this regime so much right now. If I was London I'd be demanding a trade, instead he just keeps quiet and plays his guts out (injured, btw). Wish I had that kind of character. |
