Re: Field Condition
If they replace the fields at FedEx with turf, would they replace all of the grass in auburn too?

There's a video in that article that Michael Robinson (Seahawks FB) took, that shows the field pre-game. In case you couldn't tell from the tv broadcast, this video confirms how atrocious it looks. It looks like a patchy grass/dirt field from an abandoned lot or something lol. Absolutely no way it doesn't get fixed by next year. |

Aside from the obvious Rex Ryan, Carroll is the least professional coach in the league. He acts like a college KID at games, forget like a college coach. He actually reminds me a lot of Jim Zorn in the way he carries himself and behaves, but with a Twitter account too. I don't think he'll ever see long-term success in the pros. He's on his third chance after two failures. Maybe he'll find his way back to college but after the way he demolished USC with violations and bolted to escape the punishments, who would want him? |

Re: Field Condition
OK, I hear you all about they are crying or whatever. But this doesn't change the fact that this field is embarrassing. If we had our stuff straight, wouldn't give them anything to photo or video. Considering the RG3 play right before the 2nd TD where it looks like he first tweaked the knee, he was untouched. i think this field could easily have contributed. SAD SAD SAD. You would think Danny, a marketing guy who can control what Doc Andrews does and doesn't say, would take more pride in the field that is splashed all over TV. I'm just sayin...

Both him and Schneider know how to scout talent extremely well, he will also go with what he thinks is the right call no matter what the media or other people think. Went with Wilson when the team just signed Flynn, he has guts which is admirable in coaching these days. I think he can have long term success. He is also a great leader and always has his team believing they can win no matter the odds. |

I think it was a fake punt after they were up by like 30 points in one of their other games, and even going for it on fourth and one in our game, after our game was pretty much done. And then wanting to whine and cry about the fields (whether justified or not) afterwards...I just don't like Pete Carroll at all. I think he's going to get major payback very soon. |
I think the fan experience is great because of how long the stadium's been there, special rule consessions the NFL makes for Lambeau, and the fact that, for the most part, they've had a good team to root for, for the majority of its history. I'll have to say my experience is much better coming home after a win. |
Re: Field Condition
I don't recall having these bad field conditions in the past. With a natural turf sometimes it just happens. Might not have had time to put down new turf and even if you get down new sod if it rains sod can be even worse then what they had.

I'm with you. I like Carrolls attitude/demeanor and find it refreshing. He's done a great job in Seattle... better than the job Shanahan's done here, in fact. Thats not a jab at Shanahan, but a compliment to Carroll. Regarding the Monkey's comment that Carroll failed twice before, lots of coaches, including probably the greatest coach of all time, Bill Belichek, "fail" one or more times before they get in the right situation to have success. |

This field has never really been in good shape especially in Nov & Dec. Even Doc Walker was calling it a pig pen after the Skins beat Dallas in the last game of the season. Personally I dont think DS will put $1 more into that place than he thinks is absolutely necessary because he wants out of FedEx and into a new domed stadium as soon as he can the the taxpayers of DC or VA to build him one. |
Re: Field Condition
As much as I love the fact that we play in grass, it would seem to me with the type of speed we have on our team transitioning to field turf would play our team's advantage.

Re: Field Condition
I actually loved seeing that pig style playing surface at Fed Ex Field. It's pretty obvious that the people who are charged to keep the football field in decent shape failed to do just that.

Does anyone know how much artificial turf / other options cost? Would it be a one-time investment, or does it get torn up / need replacement with wear/tear? Just wondering how cheap our billionaire owner is being. Seems like he's always been willing to spend millions on players, and surprised that we've been cheap on something like this. I guess replacing the turf doesn't yield a financial benefit for him.. |

We don't play at home in January all that often |
Re: Field Condition
I don't think Snyder is being cheap, it's just that the field with all its additional events now goes through more wear and tear and that needs to be accounted for

The field is just used a lot more than other football fields around the league, and I'm sure Snyder now sees that because of the wear and tear, it's just not going to hold up to that much use all year long. But, I hope he does strongly consider building in VA (even though I'm now a NC resident) because it would be a bit easier for me and a bit closer for me to get to games in NoVa as opposed to MD. |

If he wants to continue hosting other events, he needs to change the surface. No way he'll give up that cash to keep the field solely for game events during the season. Hell, our stadium here at ECU has awesome grass on it during season and looks good even at the last game of the season. They could do it, but they have to choose whether they want a good safe playing surface or cash to line their pockets. |

You would think that would be something he would take into account when the management at Fed Ex field hosted all those events. It seems like pretty common sense. |
Re: Field Condition
How does our field compare to the ravens? I think they have quite a few events also?

I couldn't imagine the Redskins ever having a homefield with artificial turf. |
Re: Field Condition
I couldn't imagine the Redskins ever having a homefield with artificial turf.
Why not? We are the only team in the division with a grass field, the only outdoor stadium in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic with a grass field (I think NE has field turf, if not they would be the only other one) so it makes sense. The only other teams east of the Mississippi and north of Florida with grass fields are Cleveland and Carolina if I'm not mistaken. From a quality of play standpoint it makes sense to go to Field Turf. |
Re: Field Condition
if we get artificial turf, i hope it's white, w burgundy lines, and out of bounds marked w gold.
also, a giant blue crab for the midfield logo |
