Completely agree. Ive always felt Flaco is good QB, and until recently have felt he was underrated, but the dudes not as good as how much he got paid. I dont know if hes smart or dumb for not tkaing less in order to keep Boldin around. |
Might agree, Harvin & Tate kind of the same player IMO.
I don't like it. To me guys like Harvin are great when you have a QB that can't throw to save his life and you need to rely on gadget plays to give your running game some room, but when you have a guy like Wilson that can throw in a more traditional, less gimicky offense, then those gadget players can become a distraction because the temptation to call a play just to get someone involved has the potential to disrupt the rhythm and organic development of an offense. On top of that top flight kick returners frequently are at risk to fall off the face of the Earth. Now with that said if Harvin can develop into a more traditional receiving option, get better at running routes, especially now that he has a QB that can get him the ball downfield, and combine that with his amazing athletic ability then he will be a steal but for now I'm very skeptical that this will work. |
Re: Around the NFL Free Agency Thread 2013
Boldin is the toughest wideout in the game- He played with a wired jaw the week after it was broken. Oh and he refused to take painkillers during recovery.

Certainly the better value. A 6th rounder for a solid, occasionally beast like, WR OR a first rounder (and more) for a headcase, fragile playmaker. Seriously, for a 6th rounder, anything they get from Boldin will be gravy. Given what I have seen as the price for Harvin, he has to be a consistent playmaker to be worth what was given. |
Re: Around the NFL Free Agency Thread 2013
Percy Harvin will be in a Seattle Seahawks uniform. The Seahawks are about to be a tiny bit better than what they already were.

according to rotoworld Greg Toler resigns with Arizona
|
Re: Around the NFL Free Agency Thread 2013
bad move seattle. they would have been better off using those picks in april.
unless harvin gives them 1200 yards, 8TDs and plays in 16 games, it's wasteful. boldin on the other hand is a great pickup. if a 6th round WR gives you 200 yards in his first year, you'd be happy, so, barring a fast and serious injury i think he gives them at least 600-800 and everyone in SF is pretty happy with the move. |

yeah I just saw that... Damn. We gotta go after Biggers now. Or all in for Talib. EDIT Kent somers saying he hasnt re-signed w/ AZ. Will be a FA on Tuesday |
Re: Around the NFL Free Agency Thread 2013
Yea my bad rotoworld misreported
Updating a previous item, the Cardinals have not re-signed free agent CB Greg Toler. Tim Ring of KTVK Phoenix withdrew his "report" after claiming he mixed up Toler's three-year deal with Rashad Johnson's. Toler remains in the mix for the Browns and Redskins. Per reliable Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, there's every reason to believe Toler will hit the open market Tuesday at 4PM ET. |

Re: Around the NFL Free Agency Thread 2013
The Seahawks probably did not see anyone of value in this year's draft in the first round. They have been trying to get a big play receiver the past couple of years and have missed out, second round and possibly a third round pick is what I would have given up but if you are going to trade a 1st round draft pick this is the year to do it. Honestly I would take Harvin over every receiver the Redskins currently have on their roster.
Boldin was a great pickup for the 49ers. Crabtree, Davis, Boldin, their OLine, and their running backs. I do not see anyone stopping that offense. Especially with Kapernick looking more and more like the real deal. Of course their defense took a huge step back mainly due to Justin Smith being injured but the man is turning 34 and when you are that old injuries have a way of lingering more often that not. But the NFC West should still run through them but I think it will be a lot closer than it was last year. Seahawks have an excellent chance of winning that division with the Rams creeping up. Cardinals will always miss Kurt Warner. |

Maybe he'll continue to get hurt and burn them like Matt Flynn. |

besides a young QB (lacking experience, not talent), SF looks to have all the pieces.

Just because this ''isn't a good year for first rounders'' doesn't mean there are no players you could have gotten at other positions in the first or stockpile picks. Or perhaps they could have made another reach and gotten a 2nd round guy in the first again (Bruce Irvin example). Rich Eisen pointed out that the last 3 WR trades involving first rounders have been awful (Peerless Price, Roy Williams, Deion Branch). Add to that that Percy Harvin has yet to play a full season in the NFL, suffers from migraines, wants Calvin Johnson money, and couldn't even get along with Leslie Frazier, and IMO you have a trade that has more bust than boom. Also Ed Reed to San Fran; you heard it here first. |

That offense needs a play maker to compliment Wilson. Why not surround him with one? Not too many potential playmakers in the league like Harvin. PR/KR, WR and RB...he does it all. Is there a risk?
