Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
I'm more confident heading into Minnesota, but considering they almost beat Dallas doesn't make me too cozy. They have the potential to beat us but they're so damn inconsistent and talentless (outside of AP and Jared Allen) it's hard not to think we won't destroy them.
|
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
If we beat Minny and the Pokes lose in New Orleans, we will be 1/2 game out of a first place tie, with a game in hand against Dallas in our house.

Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
yeah this is our chance

When do we ever destroy anyone? This game will be close. Minn was in the playoffs last year. They're plenty capable of beating us. We need to show up and be ready to play on a short week. Anyone remember a guy named Joe Webb? |
Oh snap,I thought we had Vikings at home, thought nfl was really screwing the Vikings
Now I'm worried,this games a pik em |

Yeah but they're 1-7 now. The Skins were also in the playoffs but I thought you said recently you were tired of talking about last year? ;) It's not going to be an easy game with the short week but we have the chance to carry over the momentum from SD and keep things rolling. |
Rak is just not very good but our entire D has had zero pressure as of late. That has to change
We won the game yesterday because our front guys constantly collapsed the pocket. |
Kerrigan and Orakpo have been non-existent lately. Disappointing.
I actually heard Orakpo's name called a few times yesterday which was a first in a long time. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
I watched some of the Cowboys vs Vikings game and the Cowboys gave up 140, 2 TD to Peterson. The #1 thing you absolutely have to do is contain AP. I feel confident we can do enough to do that. Ponder is not Rivers

Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Young gets the game ball from me.
That win, the WAY we won probably just turned the season around. I can't believe Dallas pulled out that win and Philly did what they did to Oakland, but I think we're going to end up winning this division. Side note...so pissed at local CBS. After the first play of the overtime GW drive, they said "due to contratual obligations we must switch to the Cleveland-Baltimore game" and changed it to a blue screen that just said "Browns vs. Ravens" in the middle for about 3 full minutes and I missed the last drive and the win! I watched the whole thing, recorded it too. Someone should be fired! I understand the contract issue, but why switch to a screen-saver for almost 5 minutes while a game is being won? I told my wife about the infamous '68 MNF Raiders game where they switched to Heidi. Argh. Scrambled and tried to pull up ESPN 980 to hear the end and my wife saw the score on the bottom of NFLN that said we had 30 points. I hate you, CBS. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
I will say this, that last drive in OT was a thing of beauty!

But they didn't get any sacks, which means they're obviously not doing their job. Nevermind the fact that Rivers and P. Manning are two of the least sacked quarterbacks in the league. In fact, the only full season starter that has been sacked less than those two is Matt Stafford (who they've also played). |

Ravens, we scrambled trying to find a station that had the Skins game. We found one and I got to watch the last drive. I was watching in Baltimore, does anyone in the DC or VA area know if the game switched over there, or was it just some freak luck that there was a station that didn't switch over. |

Not just yesterday but it's been a few games. Rak has gone 4 games now without one. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
We are halfway through the season. Rak has 3 total sacks: 2 against OAK, 1 against GB.
A pace for 6 sacks for the season is not good enough. BTW Kerrigan is on a pace for 13 sacks for the season. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Rak always seems to go on streaks. He's due for a 3 sack game soon.

That's just the rules of the TV contracts. Especially with Baltimore's game coming on next. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Yeah, in PA, I can only get the Harrisburg stations, not Baltimore and definitely not DC.
I've called Dish Network and asked if I could pay to get some DC stations for this Ravens-get-priority stupidity but nope, they couldn't get game out-of-town local stations despite giving me a Chicago and a New York station. (WGN, WPIX) |

I agree that Kerrigan and Orakpo have been unusually quiet as of late, which is odd considering the defense as a whole has played significantly better. I'm not sure what to make of it. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
I think people are just expecting something out of Rak that he can't give, he's just not very good at rushing the QB, He'll tease u one game out of 5 but then vanish as he has done once again.

I still think BOTH belong lined up as DEs with a hand on the ground. Neither should be in coverage or doing ANYTHING other than pursuing the QB on every down. If we were a 4-3, that's where they'd probably be. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Only resign Orakpo if the money makes sense, it's the unit as a whole that isn't getting to the QB enough. He is definately not quite doing enough, but he makes a tackle for a loss every game. We don't have enough speed on defense, and he is probably one of the faster players. Which is a bit scary....
I give the refs an F for the game, they were just terrible. So many bad calls. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
the last call against SD was embarrassing for the NFL , Garcon wasn't even hit
|
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Everyone on ESPN talking about how the Redskins are going to win the division lol..
Amazing what a win will do. Now we just need to shit the bed against the Vikings and get back to normal |

Rivers was safe as can be in his pocket. Chargers did a much better job on their DL batting passes but I think we had 1-2. At least Rob Jackson got 1 sack. Its a team win, Ill take it. |
Struggling to understand why.
Imo we get zero push from the middle. Zero. Teams arent worried about the middle and double team those two. |
Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
We won the game yesterday because our front guys constantly collapsed the pocket.
I was listening on the radio and they were talking about how weak our muddle has been. If you say they did the job yesterday ok, but this year as a whole. We need more pressure in the middle. Edit: gholston, bowen, cofoeild are run stuffers - we need someone in there to get to the qb. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Per Grant Paulsen
Rak rushed 33 times, dropped 4 times. King Dunlap got help by the guard on 2 rushes. I didn't see much doubling going on myself either. |
Well - again i had to listen to this one, not watch but i really believe we need someone in the middle to get pressure on the qb.

Coefield collasped the pocket a couple times. I think we are good there. People, San Diego Oline is not bad. Rivers was completing 74% of his passes coming into the game, he's not getting touched back there. |

Yeah Rivers was second in accuracy to only Manning. I didnt realize that until pre game. I know we have alot of holes to fill going forward, safety, interior /rite side oline, mlb, but i would love to see us get a "beast" in the middle of that down three line somewhere. |

Are you talking about the penalty for hitting a defenseless player? Yeah that was a terrible call. Also the off pass interference on SD when there wasnt even any contact?WTF WAS THAT? The ref on that call should be investigated to see if he had money on the game.I dont know if you can top that as being the worst call ever. I dont feel sorry for SD though, seen the skins get screwed too many times, but those call were absolute hogwash |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
yeah that call and the WH fumble non call was just a shame. The NFL really needs to clean that shit up

The problem is more of expectations. The DL are supposed to be controlling the line, with the LB's making the big plays. Overall, I think our 3-4 front 7 is our strongest part on D, with Fletcher's limitations being the weakest link in it. Riley, Kerrigan, Jackson, Rak, Jenkins, Cofield Bowen all bring it to the opponent all game long (except Denver in the 4th quarter :() |

Same with the phantom Hold on Cofield a few plays later. I can't believe the refs didn't see someone do something, and just got the numbers wrong. |
