Lots of speculation that Jon Gruden could come back to coach Oakland again....not sure how good of a chance there is for that although I know Gruden is very close with the Raiders and the owner... |

For some reason I thought when McKenzie came in he was going to do a better job, but he has been extremely piss poor. His free agent choices he's brought in have been terrible. |

Its amazing what poor Oline play will do to a team and what great Oline play will do for a team, such as the Patriots and the Cowboys. The Pats combo that with zero playmakers at the WR position. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 4
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Raiders' first look for their new head coach will be Jon Gruden.
Gruden, the former Raiders head coach and current Monday Night Football color analyst, has been connected to a homecoming ever since leaving the Bucs in 2008. It's obvious he'd be the first choice for close friend and owner Mark Davis. However, there's a lot of doubt if this is the right time for Gruden to go back to Oakland. GM Reggie McKenzie has put together the worst teams in the NFL by trading for guys like Matt Flynn/Matt Schaub, drafting guys like D.J. Hayden/Menelik Watson and blowing cap space on washed-up veterans like Maurice Jones-Drew. No coach could make it work with this roster. i think its time to get Gruden out the booth. I liked him early on, but his shtick has worn thin. I think the booth needs more honesty in it and Tirico does a great job. I wouldnt mind giving the booth a shot, it needs more of a fan's opinion. Plus hanging with a infamous poon hound like Tirico would be classic. Id also bring a little drinking to the booth too, like the old days. watching football is suppose to be fun, i think thats what's loss in today's broadcast crews. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 4
I'm going to see Jon on Sunday, I'll ask him.

Yeah, he is loved in Oakland, I couldnt see him back in there unless they give him alot of control in personel. I think Gruden is a better coach than people have given him credit for. Tell Jon about my idea of fan perspective in the booth and ask him to give a shout out to Chico next weekend from the booth. thanks SS |

The Patriots have squandered countless draft picks over the past couple of years. You typically can never count them out, but Brady is just not playing well and unless something happens I don't see them winning many games. Although, I'm sure they'll make the playoffs since their conference is pretty crappy. |

I agree, their drafting has been poor and their decisions to move key players like Mankins and Welker has been head scratching. Amendola was a terrible terrible free agent signing. I dont know if they will make the playoffs, thats why the Jets should start Vick over Geno. The Jets could win the division. |

Do you think the booth is lacking these days? Not just monday night, all over. I like Gruden, but its worn out a little bit or he needs someone in there to keep him honest. I think the booth needs to be more personality driven and more honest analysis. People hate this guy, but Collinsworth is does a great job. I personally dont like Joe Buck, but somehow that pairing works well. Aikman mitigates the annoyance that is Buck. Nance and Sims do well together, Sims can be a lil much sometimes, but not Gus-level. |

Only sometimes, like the other day when Buck (I think) was consistently saying every tackle was "helmet to helmet" does it stand out. I like Dilfer a whole lot better in the booth than Gruden though. And I know there are quite a few at ESPN that do too. |

Well he's been offered jobs coaching, and hasn't accepted. I think he likes what he's doing with his coaching camps. |
