When sitting on the bench, what is Kirk's favorite kind of pie?

I actually googled kirk cousins favorite pie to try and make a joke but found nothing. warpath is sparred.

however, roy helu is very conflicted when it comes to choosing pecan vs pumpkin pie and he hates, absolutely hates cold thanksgiving food.

In the end I think Cousins is who we thought he was. Good backup, probably not starter material. And ultimately we're still building so does it really matter who's at QB right now?

Wouldn't mind seeing him back next year as the backup.
Agreed.

D coordinators aren't stupid. They watch the game film. They observed Jay's 1st down--base formation--base personnel run tendency. So? They fill the box with 8 and their ILBs have the green light to "fire their gun" when they read run.

But, aggressive 8-man boxes shouldn't necessarily doom the run game. Good run games face that every week.
But when you combine 1st down predictability with using inadequate or inconsistent blockers i.e. Carrier/Reed to block the POA it gets harder.
I still don't understand why they don't use more I-form with Daryl Young as the POA blocker rather then TEs?
Anyhow, couple that with rotating RBs.
Add not sticking to the run outside of 1st down.
Add lack of variety/misdirection/ not finding the right mix in the run game i.e. Alf likes tosses and Alf needs carries to get rhythm.
Add telegraphing the 'type' of run based on the runner i.e. Alf inside runs, Matt Jones edge runs, CT shotgun runs/draws.
You start to get the picture of why the running game is struggling.

When we can run against the Rams you would think we can run against anybody. Who knew..*shrugs*

We should be able to run against the Bucs though.

Reality is they could do both. Seahawks drafted Wilson in the 3rd round after paying Matt Flynn.

Cousins should not be prohibitively expensive, they can sign him and still draft a guy to spread their eggs across multiple baskets.
I agree. Regardless of how KC finishes out the season, we have to draft someone next year.

We knew this this time last year when he was throwing all of those laughable interceptions before he was unforgivably benched.

Because the division is wide open and because Cousins hasn't been replaced for the greater good, it matters a great deal... Hopefully next season McCoy will start until the coaches are ready to start Paxton Lynch... that's if Scottie Mac drafts him.

Cousins is on pace for 4,016 yards, 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

I mean that's not terrible, no? :Smoker:

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

I don't think we've had a 4,000 passer since Brad Johnson in 99. That is so sad on so many levels.

Lynch could be the number one overall pick in the draft. He has the arm, size and mobility.

Bucket 10-24-2015 12:37 AM

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

I feel like people don't watch other games and other QB in the league when calling Kirk a backup. He's far from a franchise QB but we have a lower chance of getting one of those in a draft then making the Super Bowl.
The Jets were playing man coverage almost the entire game. Come 3rd quarter on that play, Revis initially showed man by following the crossing receiver but then he let the receiver go and peeled back to short zone coverage where grant was.

Kirk was thinking man coverage when he came back to grant. He was not expecting Revis to be sitting on the route like he was.

revis made a nice play.

Jets D coord made a nice "change up the look" call in the 3rd quarter that Kirk will struggle with bc he depends on his pre-snap reads of coverage too much. when a D coord shows one look pre-snap but then does something different = kirk doesnt do well. kirk needs to see the field a lot better post snap.

The over the top bashing of Kirk is mind numbing right now.

The revis int was the worst int you have ever seen?
bc Kirk got picked off by revis, he is an effing bum?

do you know who is an effing bum? robert fucking griffin. the dude whose hubris so fucking big he cant accept the fact that he needs to be coachable from the ground up.

the fucking bum that we sunk a ton of resources in who spends more time in the gym thinking he needs to be running sprints instead of studying film in a dark room for 23 hours a day for the next 2 years.

kirk is the best of what we got right now. hes not ideal but at least he can run an offense. at least he can read and get rid of the ball so we arent sacked 8 times a game. at least he has shown he can drive down the field with the game on the line. at least we can call plays that call for the QB to read both sides of the field and work through progressions instead of running plays where there is only 1 route for RG3 to read.

kirk needs a run game and his top 2 weapons back and then .... maybe we go .500.

what the fuck did you all cousins haters expect?

for him to carry this body bag of a team with no run game to the SB?
Amen!

This was after the Eagles game. That doesn't include the yards/TDs/INTs of the Falcons and Jets game.

I'm no number cruncher so I can't tell you what he's on pace for currently. But I'm sure it's probably a sadder statistic that the post-Eagles game one.

The projections are not good but the idea is for him to get better by playing and turn his numbers around.

In a perfect world, I think he would need to play more before we would come to any conclusions about him as a starter. Unfortunately, since contract decisions loom for both Kirk and RGIII, Kirk's time to prove himself may be shortened. He probably needs to step it up starting with today's game. If Kirk plays poorly today and we lose to Tampa Bay going into our bye week, I wouldn't be shocked if Jay Gruden reinstates RGIII as the starting QB.

I feel like he'd go to McCoy before RG3. I'd be interested in seeing RG3 again just from a "totally curious devil's advocate" sick and twisted kind of way. But all this rigmarole is pretty moot since at least 2 out of 3, if not all 3 are gone in the off-season. I feel like you're pretty much shooting yourself in the foot no matter who you choose.

RG3: Athletic, but not a pocket passer, can't read progressions, deer in headlights
McCoy: Athletic, but weak arm is weak as shit
Cousins: Pocket passer, but a turnover machine, makes bad decisions

Pick your poison.

I would also say that the expectation was for the running game to be the strength and have Kirk be a game manager a la early Roethlisberger and Flacco, but since the running game has been part of a Houdini act they've relied on KC more than desired. I would assume Jay and Sean McVay were hoping KC would be around 3,000 yd pace instead of 4,000.

On the plus side he has been the best two minute QB I've seen on the Skins in a long time.

He was talking to Tarik El-Bashir, who when asked about it said he didn't think it was a big deal. That he was jacked up. He did admit that he has been critical of Kirk (I mean who hasn't), but downplayed the whole thing.

EDIT: I will say though, this probably will become a story of some sort. It's a bye week and people need stuff to talk about. This will be one of those things we hear a lot about.

So, I have been rooting for Cousins as a Redskins fan, but have been pretty critical and Im still not sold on him as the long term solution at QB, but I am now officially a fan of Cousins. Yep, and I believe it was an article last week where he (Tarik) supported sticking with Cousins for remainder of the year.

Man it's refreshing to see a win like that. I'll be buying a, "You like that!" shirt as soon as this ramps up to a full on meme.

Tarik does a good job and seems like one of the good guy. Doesn't seem like a target cousins would take shot at.

This game was a lot different than the others this season...deferent feel to it. Seems like a little more to build off on.

I'm really confused by Alfmo play. I think u could argue Morris should take a back seat to jones and Thompson should get the rotational reps. I would hold Morris to the second half as fresh legs and battering ram.

Morris has shown the last couple of years that he's just not the same player when RG3 isn't behind center. Too bad because Cousins is like his best friend on the team.
