Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Bucky Brooks is a stone cold code red baller when it comes to inside information. The Uber Driver too.
No way we are trading our quarterback. If we do I will be forced to root for another team for the next 20 years until we find another good one - as that seems to be the pattern. Come on guys. DO NOT MESS WITH OUR OFFENSE. WE HAVE MONEY AND PICKS TO IMPROVE THE DEFENSE. Even if we take it to halfway decent it should be enough. It would have been enough to win at least 11 freaking games this year! |

Hopefully McC/Gruden set the price extremely high, because I do not feel like wasting another couple seasons grooming another qb. We have filled the hole at qb, pay the goddamn man, set our sights on our shitty defense. it's starting to feel like we're scared of potentially being a contender. Because if we rebuild the d and have a good coordinator, we could easily take the next step. |

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
LOL, don't be so upset if Cousins leaves. The Redskins have to work with the bed that they've made for themselves. They did not sign Kirk Last year, and he now wants a top dollar contract.
Redskins brass don't want to pay him a top dollar contract. The best option for the Redskins is to non-exclusively tag Cousins. This works for two reasons... First, if a team signs him to an offer, that team creates a market rate for us to match and keep Kirk long term. Two, if we let him go, we get 2 likely high first round picks. Lastly if no one bites on Cousins, it takes away some of his leverage and allows us to negotiate a long term deal before the deadline period. High level negotiations are not for the faint of heart. |

It shouldn't even be a question at this point "will we let Kirk walk", because that answer should be a resounding "YES". The question now is what are we going to want in compensation for him. Read a good article and will try and find source to post it, explaining that the Cousins situation is likely sealing the fate of Bruce Allen and Scott M, who are accused of "not doing enough" to try and sway Dan Snyder's opinion on Cousins. Snyder basically does not want him here and isn't really in the mood yet to hear arguments on keeping him. The article concluded that should the Skins do well in finding a stop gap solution at QB while building a solid defense, then Scott and company will be praised as heros, but if they fall on their face when their stopgap fails, you are likely seeing the end of Gruden and his staff, as well as Allen and Scott, which is ironic, because it was Dan that didn't want Cousins anyway, but as always the coaches and staff will bear the blame for his dumb decisions. Really hard at times to be a fan as long as Snyder owns this team. The truth is he just sucks any fiber of hope from any situation. Here we are on the cusp of signing our first franchise QB since probably Theismann and Snyder is trying his best to F it up. |

I would trade Cousins BUT it would have to be a totally crazy deal..like This years #1,#2,#5 and next years #1#2 and a starting D Lineman ..And nobody would do that...oh crap didn't we almost do that for a unproven Rookie several years ago..That did not turn out so well for either team..best thing to do is Keep Cousins !

The NINERS appear to be the only suitor....I wouldn't trade Cousins though..... He's grown so much in our offense....But Gruden may trust his offense to Colt McCoy to manage games on offense while our improved defense stops the opposing offense... |

I could care less about the #2 overall pick or other picks San Fran might throw in. The Skins drafted in the top 10 for years and still SUCKED BALLS because they DID NOT HAVE A QB. They even picked good players with those high draft picks, but again, they still SUCKED BALLS because they didn't have a QB. They had top 10-15 Defenses and could run the ball, but again, they still SUCKED BALLS because they didn't have a QB. It will be much easier to build the team around Cousins, even after paying him, than it will be to build an all time great Defense that any QB can win with. The Skins won 3 Super Bowls with good QBs who didn't have to carry the entire load. How many Super Bowls did the Skins win with the 29th ranked Defense and a crappy running game. Build the Defense, get better at running the ball and you can win with Cousins for the next 8-10 years. Pushing the reset button is insane. Give me the known entity every time vs. another 20-30 years of wandering aimlessly in the abyss. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
San Fran is not going to trade the #2 pick to us for Cousins, they aren't going to give up a bunch of picks for him when they have a terrible roster.

Doesn't make much sense to me either to give up so much when their cupboard is so bare. Kyle should know well from his time here that you don't need to give up a ton of picks to find a good QB. |

Will be the only reason why I would watch the Pro Bowl. With Kerrigan, Reed, and Schreff not playing, I think we only had silverback left who would be playing in the Pro Bowl. I have to admit, it's only fun for me to watch when there's a bunch of Redskins playing. Otherwise, total waste of time. My feelings were right on the Manusky hire, so I think my feelings of Cousins being signed to a big contract as soon as the Super Bowl is over with will be spot on as well. I'm starting to see that there will be continuity (at least this year), and the biggest spot to keep things heading upward is to re-sign Cousins. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
The dumbest thing of all is putting any credence in the rumors that Shanahan could go hard after Cousins. Like, does anybody really think Kyle Shanahan has had any time to do anything besides watch tape and gameplan for the teams the Falcons have faced in the playoffs? There's no way he's talking to all these NFL insiders and telling them how much he wants Cousins. And San Fran doesn't even have a GM in place, for God's sake. All this is just speculation, that because Kyle had Cousins and liked him here, that he'd like him in San Fran.
But to say that the 49ers would be willing to give up two first round picks is getting the cart waaay out in front of the horse. When Kyle gets there, he'll assess his roster, and he'll form an opinion. He'll no doubt like the idea of Cousins but there's no telling how much he'd want to give up in a franchise tag steal deal. And all of that will be subject to discussion with the GM, who hasn't even been hired yet. He'll go through his own assessment of the roster. Is it possible? Sure I guess. But acting like this is a done deal doesn't even make one shred of sense. Snake, you suck at thinking. Please just stop posting. The most likely course is that the Redskins pay Cousins handsomely in a long term contract. |

Sure, I can see a scenario where Kyle would want to lure Kirk Cousins, but I don't see it as likely. If anything, I could see Shanahan convincing Kaepernick to stay for a bit longer, and the 49ers use their draft picks to rebuild the team. The only person who could screw up the idea that Cousins gets paid big money would be Dan Snyder. If it was up to him, he'd still have RGIII starting. |

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Here is the issue, whether you like the idea or not, there is a strong possibility of a trade. Redskins have traded Champ Bailey when no thought they should do it. We signed Haynesworth, Deon Sanders, and countless others when it was a bad idea. They even gave the house for RG3. As long as Danny Boy is the owner, anything is possible.
Stats don't lie. Cousins is a legit QB and that has value in the NFL. To say that no other team would be interested and he is not worth 2 first round picks is incorrect. Look at his stats and compare them to all QBs in first two years of starting. He is favorable to the majority of Qb's out there. He is the QB of the #2 offense in 2016. We can't downplay his talent nor can we over estimate the intelligence of our front office. |

I have criticized Gruden's decision to promote from within to fill our openings rather than hire from outside the organization, and it is my belief that this could indeed cost him his job here. Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Pay him, pay him & then pay him again. The FO like carrying over money. Fucking pay the best damn QB we have had here in a long time. You let him walk or trade him for unproven draft picks is freaking stupid. If I was San Fran I would give Washington my second overall pick for him. Much better odds of success with Cousins than some unproven rookie QB that may or may not be worth any damn thing.
