Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Anybody remember when Kirk could have been had for 5 years $100 million? That seems like it was ages ago, I hope he really wants to be a Redskin. I have a feeling the 49ers are going to wave a lot of money in his face.
There were plenty of legit reasons for him signing a LTD, and plenty of people in the know thought it could get done. So please spare us with the only you knew the truth and everyone else was just a hater BS.
All due respect MTK, that's not what i'm trying to say. I never discredited anyone "in the know" that said it would get done, i just gave my own reasons for why i didn't think it would get done, and I was never given any facts or any other reason for why I was wrong other than i was crazy, etc.. Plenty of people here also gave reasons why it WOULDNT happen. I just felt like i was the only one who was met with almost venemous hatred. I guess we can safely say that those who were so called "in the know" didn't know what they think they did. I want to move past it. I think there is still a chance, a small one, that we can sign Cousins this upcoming off-season. I will stop talking about it. I have respect for you and all the other posters. I want to move past it. All is good here, like i said i look forward to debating about other stuff. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Plenty of legit reasons for a deal getting done were put out there, you either ignored them or missed them. Either way it's over until next offseason, congrats on your big win. I hope you equally acknowledge the next time you're wrong on something.
I fall more into the "Bruce Allen is a moron who doesn't want to pay Kirk fair market value because he's not sold on him" line of thinking. I also agree with NC, as long as Bruce Allen runs the team I will never be convinced we are in good hands.
I really wonder if it's Bruce Allen or it it's really Dan Snyder. Let's not forget it's Dan Snyder who wasn't a fan of "Kurt" and was one of the main people pushing for his trade. Danny boy is still butthurt his chosen one didn't pan out. I think they're both bungling idiots. |

I think your right about management, why not say give us what it's going to take to make you a long term Redskin. If his people won't work with us start trying to trade him and find out if his back up is the answer, or start planing to move up in next years draft. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Snake was right in his thinking that Cousins would not sign a LTD with us by July 17, but not right in thinking that Cousins is done in DC. That jury is still out. We'll find that out in February/March.
He clearly kept his options open by sticking to the one-year pact for now. The question is was he doing that to force his way out of DC, or was he doing that because he needed to see more from the Redskins before he determined whether this place was best for him long term? |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Snyder has been on board with keeping him going by reports in recent months.

That's why I specifically didn't lump him in with Bruce. I know Snyder has a long track record of being terrible but I don't think his pettiness would rise to a level where he would rather screw the team for the future just to satisfy his need for revenge/closure. |

Lock this baby up. Don't matter who said what or what reports you saw. This is done till next year. Kirk is our QB and we have a chance for a great season. Win and let the chips fall where they may.

Doug Fararr wrote that,he's usually half decent. I actually thought he called out some good critiques in the film break down. Kirk is good, but not perfect. He might be farther away from elite than some of us know. Doesn't mean he can get there, but with all the success he's shown, some of these deficiencies might become bigger without top notch talent around him. This might be why the 'Skins are reluctant to break the bank, until they see Kirk perform well, without Djax & Garcon round him. |

Why is this thread still open? Kirk Kurt Cousins is our qb this year, it's over. Let's worry about 2018 after the 2017 season ends. Carpe diem!!!

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
5 TDs
1 Int 105 QBR All without his 2 1000 yard WRs and no Jreed... I'd say give it up for KC. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
It's a week to week league. Half of you will be pissed off and want Colt if he plays poorly at Arrowhead.

Someone is going to pay him, might as well be us.

It sure seems like it. He uses his backs more for sure |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
This is not KC specific but ... does having Reed constantly be a game time decision make it harder for D coordinators to design and install a weekly game plan? Do they have to have 2, 1 for if he plays and 1 if he doesnt?
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Is it me or does KC seem to spread the ball around better when Reed is out.
Yes he does. Could we be more balanced offensively with Vernon Davis and Nile Paul at TE? Reed is a top 3 receiving NFL TE, no doubt. But Reid is not very good at blocking. Plus he is very injury prone. Davis and Paul are good physical blockers and not bad receivers (serviceable). I am not saying do not play Reid at all, but if Reid plays most of the snaps, are we are going back to being a pass first offense and loose balance? Which in turn makes it easier to defend against us? Do we loose the ability to run that ball consistently? Just a question.... |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Let's just be patient and see what this season brings and if he's really worth the big bucks by seasons end.

Just taking a guess here, is there a question you'd like to ask but you really want to start a thread to ask it? Rather than try to get around the 10 post min why not just ask it, that'd be a lot easier and it'd save both of us some time and you most likely won't be banned for trying to circumvent the rule, which is established for a reason. I do applaud your grammar btw, most newbies don't even put that much effort in. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Cred, to continue this discussion, I think when it comes to free agent qb's, logic goes out the window. Anybody that isn't garbage gets paid, and anybody half decent at the minimum like KC is, gets hella paid.
Our last hope is that Kirk sees what we're building here and takes whatever acceptable offer the Skins are willing to throw out. So far I don't think we've seen an acceptable offer though. |

Considering how poorly the Skins have handled the KC saga, I don't see KC giving the Skins any kind of "family discount", he will go to whatever team pays him. I hope that team is the Skins because there's no guarantee that whoever the Skins bring in to replace him will be as good as him let alone better. Losing KC means this team essentially goes back into start-over mode and I doubt the fans will take kindly to that. |

Literally my 9 year old son could have wrote that article. Some real quality insight. Here lets make a 10th team: Baltimore Why it could work The Ravens are tired of Joe Flacco. His current level of play doesn't match his contract. Cousins like Joe is a pocket passer and is use to working with below level talent at WR. Cousins would stabilize a under performing position for the Ravens. Why it couldn't work Because it is a totally stupid idea and I need something to fill up ESPN.com today. New England Why it could work The Pats are in need of replacing a aging Tom Brady. His current level of play can not not out shine their under performing defense. A mid season Garoppolo/ Cousins trade with an added 1st rounder going to the Pats is the perfect formula to set up Cousins as Tom's replacement. Kirk and Bill will be a perfect match as both love wearing hoodies. Why it couldn't work Because it is a totally stupid idea and I need something to fill up ESPN.com today. Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
The way I see it is KC did everything he could do to win the Chiefs game but it was taken away from him by a WR who didn't want to take a hard fall to win the game for his team. I made it a point to look at end zone catches in the NFL this past week and time after time the receivers had two hands on the ball.
Kirk is handicapped by two second-rate WR's and a star TE who can't stay on the field, yet he has done a very good job this season, IMO. In the Chiefs game, Kirk stepped up to the challenge, led a two minute drill at the end of the fourth quarter and won his first Monday night game on the road against a very good team - except that it doesn't count because he was let down by a p***y. BTW, I'm all set to nickname Pryor "50/50 II" after Rod Gardner if he drops any more passes this week. Oh, one more thing: for the sake of our collective sanity I hope PG doesn't run wild against us this week. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Im trying to not think about how I will feel if Cousins leaves us next off season. No defending the way Allen/Snyder handle this.
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Kirk Cousins... highest paid player in the league. Get used to the sound of that because it's coming.
