The injuries to this team is just unbelievable and actually it's hard to believe that it's true. I've never seen a team lose this many starters
Idk nothing about AZ's o-line, but Peterson had 21 carries for 29 yards. Seahawks have a good d but that's pretty terrible. Other than his first game there he hasn't impressed either.
AP hasn’t been bad. I think him and CT together running the ball we would have a better running game, just keep him away from the kids. |
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
Fingers crossed with some reps Perine can do something. Kelley just sucks, I’ve given up all hope on him.

Yup. I thought perine was solid last week |
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
I also agree with your last thought Matty, Fat Rob had potential but I don't think he's athletic enough to make guys miss, or a banger enough that guys will bounce off of him, and he lacks the vision to quickly ID the hole, or to wait patiently for the hole to open.
It seems rb's can be found in the later rounds, which begs the question as to why it has been so hard for us to find a decent one. Hopefully Perine will develop into that guy. Edit: Chico AP would be a definite upgrade, but he'd also be taking valuable reps away from guys like Perine. He's clearly not willing to split carries with anybody. In a wasted year like this one of the few good things will be our young guys getting valuable PT. |
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
Also guys, the total absence of home field advantage is getting really embarrassing!
I'm looking forward to being able to cross the ocean and cheer my guts out for them on one game, maybe next year... But I hope the atmosphere out there will be better than what's it has been this year! If you can afford tickets I'm kinda begging you guys: go to some games! Bring some friends and family, try to rally people around you and conquer this stadium back! HTTR for F sake! |

HTTR for F sake!
I don't think that's going to happen, unless this team starts winning again and have some hope for the future. This is just a direct result of the Snyder ownership. Years and years of bad or mediocre teams, all the while with ticket prices going up and up, along with concessions as well. The fans are sick of it. I can name 5 people who have given up their season tickets after owning them their whole lives, and while I know a lot of you guys probably know many more, I live 4 hours away from DC. Driving 4 to 5 hours home and having to sit in traffic after a crushing defeat, is a truly miserable experience. After years and years of this, the tailgating and "live game experience" just aren't enough to make up for it. I remember not long ago, the Redskins could brag that they were always sold out for every home game ala Packers, and now I get emails every week trying to get me to buy season tickets. It's sad to me what has happened to this once great franchise. |

I dont think our running problems can be instantly fixed by adding 1 runningback. maybe if that is an elite back, but AP aint AP anymore. The lack of running game for years now is baffling to me. Weve put some resources to address it, 3rd rounder Matt Jones and 4th rounder Perine .. but it remains the same. Contact in backfield, lack of RAC, lack of commitment .. re attendance -- its just such a pain in the butt compared to return on investment. traffic, shitty weather, they usually lose. I went to the Panthers MNF game. It was cold, we played like crap but panthers fans were enjoying themselves .. |

AP has been good in Arizona...sans the Seattle game-which Seattle has been the most dominating defense versus the run for the last 5 years. NOBODY runs against them-..... like someone stating before, here's a shocker....Running the ball and defense produces winning football. That's ALWAYS has been the case. The front office needs to get their shit together with the running game. |
Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
AP isn’t the answer here, besides the fact he’s on the downside of his career he’s best in a power scheme, not the type of running game we’ve got right now.
|
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
meh, he's a hof back who could adjust to whatever scheme run...hof just don't produce because of a system. But he is a guy who needs to get fed the ball and gets better as the game goes on.
Man, I woulda loved to see AP and CT 1-2 punch. 1 or 2 year deal...certainly not the answer long term BUT def a player who could push you into the playoffs WHILE Slow Rob and Perine come along. Perine was never...NEVER...gonna be the answer this year. He needed work, especially after a disappointing preseason. |
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
Scheme was a problem for him in New Orleans.
|
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
Every week someone goes down and is out for the year. This week it's Compton and Kelley.
Scheme was a problem for him in New Orleans.
I don't know about that...there was def a log jam at that position. Ingram and Kumara...we don't have that type of talent here. Ingram has really turned into a monster...but has that shaky injury history. AP was insurance for him imo. I don't know...hindsight is 20/20 but AP woulda done well here. He may have extended his career in AZ. |

Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
Let me ask a question to the more educated posters here:
When / If it is determined that the Redskins are mathematically eliminated from the playoff chase, do you bench Kirk Cousins to keep him healthy? I just think given the uncertainty of his 2018 season, do we risk injuring him in a lost season? I think if he got hurt bad this year, it would not only affect our ability to trade him for value / high picks, but also affect his value as a player, as i don't think a team would want to break the bank to sign him depending on what kind of injury he would be coming back from. Seeing the talk of the giants benching Eli to protect him just got me thinking.... |
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
No, you play to win the game.

If he gets hurt then if anything it means we can sign him cheaper and in a Machiavellian sort of way so it would almost be to our advantage for him to get hurt not that you injury on any player ever. |

Kirk won't sit even if we didn't win another game. He's not the problem at all. In fact he's had a good year once again.
I haven't been on jays case all year but yesterday was a disaster, he was clearly over matched and was clueless on a few drives. That 3&1 and 4&1 to CT on both was Jim Zorn like. Jay just never seems to get over the hump either and this is year 4 now.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Jay is Norv 2.0. Great offensive coordinator, but a lax leader. Both headed teams that made just enough mistakes to beat themselves. Whether it's Gus Frerotte head-butting a wall and knocking himself out of the game, Michael Westbrook taking his helmet off and penalizing us out of winning FG range, or Josh Doctson inexplicably tripping on a "turf-monster" when he's wide open for a TD, I've seen this movie before. Not saying we should fire Jay, but his leadership (or lack thereof), and his team's inconsistencies reminds me of Norv's tenure as HC. |

What does Jay have to do with Doctson tripping on our shitty turf??

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
i agree, he isnt elite, but i have plenty of concerns with some of the picks he throws and his decisions, his mobility in the pocket, his field vision, his pre snap recognition and ability to audible (whether thats on him or jay), his deep ball, his overall accuracy ... kirk is a mid tier qb imo and i am slowly falling off the bandwagon.... while i do agree he hasnt had much help at all this year from the line at times and from the WRs as well... every game i continue to lose faith and i know.... that he is not worth the money projected and it seems he wants, i cant see paying him like a stafford, when the fact is hes just not as good.... so its less that i think he IS the problem, but i cant agree that he ISNT part of or A problem on his own. |

Every fanbase has a problem with almost every pick a qb throws. You think Rodgers or Brady don't make a boneheaded play from time to time? You might be able to convince me Brady never makes a single mistake on 99% of plays, but he's also the GOAT. Cousins is never gonna be in GOAT territory, but he's definitely in the "take us deep in the playoffs with a good team around him" territory. Hard to find those guys nowadays. |

its possible, but its the timing of some of the picks, and i think im still hurting from last years debacle againt the giants in week 17 - i realize its not all him... and that comeback vs tampa ( but it was tampa ) still sticks with me as well. Trust me man, I wanna Like That! ... im just not as sure as I used to be that i in fact, do. |

Lol 2 weeks ago he led a comeback, game winning td drive in 30 seconds in Seattle of all places, but your confidence is fading because he couldn't put more than 30 against Minny? Bro. |
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
He’s doing it with injuries all around him. If you’re losing faith I’ve gotta wonder what you’re watching
|
Re: Post game and what needs to be done going forward.
We're injured out the ying yang and our schedule has been brutal. But ultimately the bottom line is we don't do well against teams with good records. It's true this year and it has been true the last couple under Gruden, too.
I'm at least a little concerned that he's a little Norv-like. Good enough to get us to 9-7, not able to get us over the hump. We're going to face good teams every year. We're going to experience injuries every year. Can he still find a way to win enough? You have to at least question it. |

It's a well-thought-out analysis. It basically highlights the difference between the Saints last year and the Saints this year. What's the difference? It's not Brees playing better - it's the run game and it's the defense. They've improved drastically. So I have to ask the question: why does our running game still suck? And why is our defense still inconsistent? It naturally leads to questions about our coaching. Manusky's been better than Barry. And we've been hurt a lot. But is 'better than Barry' the right bar? I'm left with the question as to whether Manusky is good enough, or is he just average? And we've got Bill Callahan as our offensive line coach. He's great, no question about that. But why does our running game still suck? I don't have too many questions about Cousins. I definitely have questions about Jay Gruden. |
