This...even in the loss to the Colts, the defense played well enough to win. If anything we should the celebrating the emergence of Allen, Payne and Flossin Matty I as the foundation for years to come. Also want to highlight the strong play of Fab Moreau yesterday...guy is coming into his own. Also Mason Foster gets so overlooked...he's been really solid so far. |

Keep telling yourselves that. Sacks are often huge plays during games that set offenses back, at the very least. They often cause fumbles that can lead to returns that result in defensive touchdowns. They can be big time momentum shifts. That's why the sack masters get paid. Recently, the Bear's GM gave up his left nut to acquire Kahlil Mack. He must be stupid, too. |

I was like that too towards Ryan but then I realized he's a solid player that doesn't have a high ceiling. That's ok too |

Honestly who cares who gets the sacks as long as we get them? We had 4 yesterday, that's a good day.

Re: Post game Packers
Another take away from yesterday's game....if Im a Packers fan, Im seriously worried. Barely beat the Bears...tie with Vikings...and domination by the Skins.
Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat imo. Guy seems to be a little overated. |

Hobbled Aaron Rodgers attempted 40+ passes and we should be OK with 3 pressures from a guy making $12Mil this year who didn't see a double team all game? He's been non existent so far. I actually thought Ryan Anderson made a bigger impact which isn't saying much. The guys who aren't producing need to get replaced. Doctson should be on the bench so he can evaluate his career. Mo Harris needs playing time. |
Re: Post game Packers
I was watching at Hooters so I didn't have the volume, but they were showing a replay of something else on the interior and in the background one of their OL had Kerrigan in like a full nelson. But no holding penalty. It seems to be perfectly legal to hold Kerrigan all the time. I noticed a couple other ones too.

We're talking about replacing guys 3 games in? With who? If there were better options on the team they'd be in there already.

I would take Joe Jacoby at WR over Doctson at this point. |

So why doesn't McCarthy go stronger with the ground game? That RB Aaron Jones kid can play...he has that "bounce" to the outside coming out the hole. Im giving him at least 15 touches going forward. |

Doctson is the most disappointing player on the team. Like Ive stated...he is in an ideal situation. P Rich, CT, Reed, Crowder, AP, Alex Smith....we don't have to ask the world of him. Just anything would help. I know we've been complaining about Ryan K, or Preston Smith, etc...but its not close...Doctson clearly needs to play better. |
Re: Post game Packers
Yeah if you want to carve up performance by individual player and point to who's helping vs who's hurting, Josh Doctson is definitely the most disappointing. He's just not separating from anybody. No catches yesterday - he drew a couple big PI penalties which I noted before - but no catches is still disappointing.
But Matt Ioannidis is a beast. He's playing like the 1st rounder from that draft class, and Doctson is playing like the 5th rounder. |
Re: Post game Packers
Doctson is concerning. I will say that there has been little opportunity for him so far, but there just doesn't seem to be much there. I have a feeling that the Saints game is going to require 4 quarters of high octane offense to win. If so, that's when we will need to see him do something. If he gets the looks and doesn't produce, I think we have our answer.
I also have been disappointed with JNo. I hate all the missed tackles from him so far this season, but with the overall production of the D it's hard to say that anyone is underperforming. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

I like how Ioannidis rhymes with Leonidas.

Exactly. Sure, the coaches/players can go back and focus on where they need to improve but when I, a fan, see a Skins win I'm generally pleased and satisfied. I could care less about the individual stats. |

Watch this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OK3IgwknNs Please jump to the following times: 2:03 - pressure on Rodgers 5:41 - pressure on Rodgers around the edge, Rodgers being Rodgers escapes 8:13 - pancakes his guy in one second, but Rodgers gets rid of it on a 3 step drop 8:21 - busts through and draws a blatant hold And not pictured here was at least one other blatant holding call where he destroyed the tackle off the ball and all the tackle could do was clothesline him around the neck. When you guys watch football, don't just watch the results of the play. Don't just follow the ball with your eyes. Watch the trench play, see who's winning and gaining leverage. It's a better indicator of how the game will go overall. When PFF puts out their evaluation of Kerrigan in this game you'll see he got plenty of pressures. I really have no worries about our D. They've played really well across the board for 3 weeks. 7 of the 10 points and 64 of the 240 passing yards we allowed yesterday came on a blown coverage between Norman and Swearinger (think it's on DJ though, isn't it?). Second week in a row this happens though (Hilton TD last week), if this can be corrected and avoider against the Saints, we'll be fine! |
Re: Post game Packers
Adrian Peterson is fifth in the league for rushing yards at 236 yards, 4.2 ypc.
20 yards ahead of somebody named Saquon Barkley Ballin |

Re: Post game Packers
Kerrigan was on the field for 58 snaps and 41 of those was a pass rush and 3 of those resulted in a pressure all of which where hurries as I said earlier today.

Re: Post game Packers
Great all-around win. I'm slightly concerned about our rushing defense still in the fact it seems like the other teams get 0 yards or 12. I'd love to see them be a little more consistent in that. Overall, defense is vastly improved...
For all the questions about Doctson, does anyone else feel like the balls throw to him seem really inaccurate? Like, it's almost where it's just bad luck or something. It's like Smith seems accurate to everyone else and then throws a little bit out of reach of Doctson. Maybe he needs to start sacrificing enough to Jobu? Did anyone else watch the Colts/Eagles game? Just wondered if their defensive line worked the Eagles like they did ours? Really trying to nail down how that all happened and hope it was just a scheme thing.

Re: Post game Packers
Another point to support Kerrigan: Scheme. I would wager with Allen, Payne and Matt I, the scheme for the week called for him to keep a gimpy Rodgers in the pocket. I think it worked for the most part.
|
Re: Post game Packers
The PI and defensive holding penalties all seemed like pretty fair calls. That to me is a good offense making its own luck. You could look at those as forced penalties.

Re: Post game Packers
When you look at the raw stats, you think Washington did great against the pass but struggled to stop the run. So far this season, teams have had more success on the ground than many predicted. But you have to put it all in context: By playing lighter in the box, Washington is challenging the opposing offense to try to push around its defensive linemen and linebackers to take advantage. And for the most part, the front seven is holding up so well that Washington doesn’t have to bring a safety forward. It helps the team allow fewer explosive plays in the passing game. The trade-off is a few more rushing yards, but not enough for it to matter.

Makes sense, we finally have big studs on DL / front 7 so we don't need to sacrifice secondary into the box. So if we wanted to stop the run, we could load up the box, but if we want to primarily stop the pass (on Rodgers and all the elite passers coming in) - we just go "light" in the box. Hope it continues, we have a string of QB studs coming in soon.. |

Im into some stats today...total QBR for the season: Alex at a very respectable 10 Cousins 14 Eli 19 Dak at a very garbage 28 Jimmy G was terrible before his injury ranking 30 in the league right behind Bradford who was ranked 29. You know whats crazy? Baker Mayfield had the second highest QBR performance of the year with his comeback vs the Jets. had a 95.5 QBR for his play in that game. |
