Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
I rather see it that way too (although I hope it becomes an unmitigated disaster). Some have wondered whether they're squandering Saquon Barkley's best years. But look at AD -- he's still running at a high level. They could complete a rebuild in a few years and still have an elite RB talent in the fold.
I hear the same complaint but Barkley is only a rookie I don't see how anything was wasted? |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
Colin Cowherd actually making a solid case for not trading ODB jr. He saying this all started with the Giants not taking Sam Darnold...and refusing to not cut Eli.
If they would have taken Darnold...ODB Jr would still be there. Could cut Eli and saved 17 mill this year. Coulda signed any RB they wanted...including Bell Darnold, ODB Jr and L Bell...........would probably win the East this year |

Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
I know he had a major injury last season, but when healthy Jason Verrett is a good corner. Good pick up by the 49ers (if he stays healthy).
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 49ers signing former Chargers’ CB Jason Verrett to a one-year, $3.6 million deal, per source. |

I also don't get why they gave OBJ a new monster contract only to trade him 6 months later. But according to G1 it's all good. Gettleman has a plan. I've said all along they could have drafted Darnold and Nick Chubb later on. It was a good draft to land a QB/RB tandem. Then they could load up on D this year. |

He wouldn't count against the compensatory pick formula so that's a feather in his cap. At this point I'd recommend a patient approach on safety. Mike Adams, Tre Boston, Glover Quin, Jahleel Addae, Darian Stewart, and plenty of others are still available. The supply is going to outstrip the demand. I'd be looking at guards and let the safety market come to me. |

I like what the're doing ,I think it's a little strange anytime Odell would screw up you guys would jump on it but now you seem to be concerned the Giants trade Odell . We gained and additional 2.5 million so far but next year with Odell ,Vernon and Eli off the books they will have over 90 million .They just sign Golden Tate and a O lineman and will build the D in the draft, yes, I like this alot. As for a QB ,maybe trade for Rosen or grab a youngin this year or even wait till next .......I don't care I like Gettlemans plan. |

I thought the plan was even if they did not resign him they would get the 4th round pick back as a compensatory pick. Does this contract even get them a 7th round compensatory pick? |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
I don't know much about him, but I bet Tre Boston would be far superior to Ha-ha. I'd be ok with that, especially since they threw so much coin into safety. No sense in a great safety with someone as wimpy as Ha-ha. We definitely need someone better

I still haven't given up on Montae Nicholson, he's shown some flashes of tremendous potential. Do you guys think he'd have the range/speed to switch to FS ? |

Definitely has the range, that's not an issue. Angles, reading and reacting, avoiding overpursuit, those are his issues. Mostly the mental stuff. I still think he can become a good one but I definitely need to see a lot of growth this year or I'll be at the point where we have to write him off. |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
Solid players on the board at Guard and Safety.
WR is tougher, but Geronimo Allison is a burner at Green Bay and they put the lowest tender available on him. Id give him a look....also slot and boundary corner has a couple really nice players available as well. The biggest name out there surprisingly is Suh, really interested where he would go. Man, let me dream real quick, Jonathan Allen-Payne-Suh-Matty I......damn that would be fun. |

Agreed. I feel like he never went back to being his old self after suffering that nasty concussion tackling Pierre Garçon. When he came back it often felt like he was playing scared, scared of contact. Not blaming him for that, but I hope he can overcome that, I think he has the potential to become a very good player. |

Doesn't he have pending legal troubles and a possible suspension? |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
Am I alone in thinking it a little strange that Suh and Jared Cook don't seem to have any offers yet? I know Suh has an element of baggage, but he did well in LA last season and I'd have thought they would have re-signed him if they have the cap space. Cook isn't the greatest option at TE, but he's the best of a sorry FA crop by some way and I'd have thought there are a few teams that could use help at TE. I'd say Zach Brown may fit in that category too. Surprised he hasn't been snapped up.
OTOH, I can see them hanging around until after the draft when teams know what they have and still have holes to fill. |

He’s a guy I liked in the draft and then he was a guy I wanted us to trade for last year when he was on the trade block...we will find out why I’ve liked him from day 1 this coming year. |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
^ We know he's good he's averaged 1100 yards and 8 TDs per season so far.

Since 2015 , Jordan Howard is 3rd in rushing. I'm not sure why the bears let him go for nothing

Kenny britt is coming in for a workout according to Keim...
Espn also ranked the Redskins as one of the worst roster in football lol https://247sports.com/nfl/washington-redskins/Article/Mike-Clay-Redskins-have-one-of-the-worst-rosters-in-the-NFL-130520855/ This could be a LONG... Year |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
Here's how cbssports.com ranked our FA class:
30. Washington Redskins Here's a quick breakdown of what the Redskins did in free agency: They're back at square one with their quarterback situation, they overpaid for Landon Collins, they gave a multi-year contract to a running back who will soon be 34 and they gave $4 million to Ereck Flowers, which by itself qualifies them to rank this low. They also have apparently not been filling in their head coach about their free agency plans. What do you think of this?
I don't think they overpaid for LC, The cap hit for 2019 is not bad. Plus after 3 years he can be cut, lets hope not... As for the roster, it's obvious this team lacks star power, especially on Offense. When your best player is the LT, it spells for a rough season. QB stinks WR is close to the worst in the NFL. TE's are Old (VD) or Injured all the time (Reed) RB's are good but how much does Peterson have left?? Is Guice the real deal? Huge Question marks with this team once again. To be honest I don't know how they were 6-3 at one point last yr. |
Re: NFL Free Agency Thread
Britt didn't even play last year. Some of the things this front office does just baffles me. I know he's a camp body but Britt isn't going to be a starter in the NFL again ever. Can't we bring back Simmie Cobbs? That kid looked like he has so much potential. Would much rather have him in than washed up ass Britt.
