Worried about the defense, but like said above can be fixed. I thought we were gonna play more man this year…guess not?
Fuller is bad now, idk what has happened.. WJ3 Is solid and will get better with the new scheme. Moreland should have been kept |
Re: Giants postgame
Some of the coverage issues are fixable. We are mostly playing zone. I see DB’s and LB’s releasing receivers to nobody in order to cover an empty zone. Our players need to use their brains. Do not release a receiver late in a play. I don’t give a fuck about your zone responsibilities after 4 seconds into a play. The idea is to cover a man not make a pretty zone shape. The idea of zone is to get to your zone then cover the closest guy. Not stand around in your zone.
For a veteran #26 is not playing consistently. On the long QB run by Jones that was gifted back by a penalty, #26 blitzed and was in perfect position to blow up the play. Instead he ran right by him. There are 2 or 3 other plays where he is always a step behind.
You can't fix Bostic and Holcolm in coverage. The only way to fix our LB's in coverage is to take them off the field. |
Re: Giants postgame
It's still early but I am very concerned about the lack of plays CY and Sweat are making.. More so Young because many predicted him to have an Aaron Donald type season... So far his ass has been 70% missing.. Payne and Allen have been the best 2.
My biggest concern is our coaching staff. We obviously have talent on both sides of the ball but they are being set up to fail. All three of them last night shit the bed for the second week in a row. Especially Turner. He is a joke. |
Re: Giants postgame
Yup Moreland should have been kept.
Running back J.D. McKissic said the way Heinicke handled himself and performed under pressure reminded him of a different quarterback he used to play. “He reminded me of Russell Wilson,” McKissic told reporters after the game. “He was calm. He wanted to make a play. He wanted to do anything it took. Only thing on his mind was winning.” |
Re: Giants postgame
Man what a win! Come in here and it's like a funeral.
Never get down a about a win, they're too tough to come by especially in the division. |
Re: Giants postgame
It was a weak call. He appeared to have too much of a grip on the shoulder pads, but still a questionable call. Equally questionable was the roughing the passer call on Chase in the first quarter. Instead of 3rd and 12 at the 16, the Giants were given 1st and goal at the 8 and would score a TD. So the calls cancel each other out.
I respectfully disagree on Chase, everyone knows you can’t land on top of the qb,he could have slid to the side and not landed on him, it looked to me he took out his frustration of sucking ass all night and landed on top of him on purpose |
Re: Giants postgame
As far as the calls go we have gotten our fair share that have gone our way.

Jones was falling backwards as he threw, before Chase got to him, harder to control the landing if you are effectuvely following him down rather than dragging him down |

Fuller was getting beat in outside coverage last year, he is much better as a slot. There wasn't exactly a rush to sign Moreland once we cut him, if any team thought he was worth it they would have traded a 7th rounder for his rights. He would not be fixing our coverage issues |

We always complain we don't get breaks and last night we got all the breaks and folks are bitching. Geez. We are .500 team this season and really if the defense can be who they are suppose to be that percent could go up. My Debbie Downer comment: CY is not doing jack shit; i specifically focused on him at times and he creates very little pressure. Hope he turns it around. Sophomore slump? |

It's a week to week league. Take the W and don't put too much stock in one game.

Holcomb isn't that bad and is young so they should be able to "fix" him if needed. At least he has some speed. Bostic is a lost cause, even when he does get it he is too slow to keep up. It may be the case that one or two players are upsetting the whole coverage scheme and if you replace Bostic and Collins in coverage the rest of it will come together. But they seem to need Bostic to get everyone lined up pre snap. That is a failure of the front office and coaching staff to not fix that issue for the last 8 months when there were other viable alternatives |

I still wouldn't threw out the idea of sending Collins down to LB. |

Ill be as optimistic as possible and shed my funeral suit.
We have weapons on offense- more weapons than I thought. Heineken is real good. I am trying my best to think of a third positive but I cannot. Lol. The D was supposed to be a positive but ouch. Ok it is week two and this staff has time to pull their heads out their asses. |

Oh believe me ive been texting them since last night lol. But Matty the long term goal is the real prize. Because we are 10 days away from this win being ancient history. Right now my concerns far outweigh my good feelings. But hey for the sake of the now I am thoroughly happy we pulled that out last night. It was a great game. Except for my blood pressure. |
Re: Giants postgame
Yeah losing that game and being 0-2 it be dooms day around here.
I think there is time to correct the defense; we kind of a mini bi week here since we played on Thursday. Coaches have two games now to look at their work, hopefully they get it fixed defense wise. |

Re: Giants postgame
no one talking about the Hard Knocks announcement?
WOW! A full season of behind the scenes football stuff we don't care about. I can see it now: Its Carson's birthday and all his family is coming over; proceed to watch 20 minutes of Carson and his mom eating cake. I made it through half a season of the cowboys one; as soon as they focused on Dak wrapping a present for Zek I was like F this I am out. Who still watches that shit? |

I would watch but I'm not an HBO subscriber and I ain't paying extra for streaming services to watch it. |

Never get down a about a win, they're too tough to come by especially in the division.
People are forgetting how different division games are. How many years have we've seen the Giants be a dumpster fire all throughout the season and they always play like an all pro team against us? I just feel that what happens in other games goes all out the window during division games. I'm hopeful because: - The offense is better than expected; Scott Turner needs to stop being so damn pass-happy, when we have Gibson and McKissic. - There is just too much talent on the defense for them to be this bad; however, even in their current funk they can be bend but don't break. |

I mean Heinicke performance is the take away for me. IMO he removed a lot of doubt Giants secondary is solid. Taylor spread the ball around and made good decisions. Terry is awesome, but TH won that game, he has the poise. Everyone should be happy bout that |
Re: Giants postgame
Even though the defense didn't play lights out last night, we still need to give them some credits for preventing Giants from scoring TDs, especially after Heinicke's interception in our own red zone. 5 FGs = 15 pts instead of 5 TDs = 35 points.

Re: Giants postgame
Can we just talk about that insane throw and catch to Seals-Jones? That's a big time play. Big stones by TH and a big time nice catch by RSJ.

I think what's crazy is that the offense can be so much better, that's scary. There's no way we should be out rushed by Danny f*cking Jones when we have Gibson and McKissic. Our team had 87 rushing yard, Jones had 95, that just can't happen. Back to the TD, yeah that was a sick pass and catch. |
Re: Giants postgame
Giants play that soft zone shit, I think Turner thought they could just pitch and catch it underneath all night long and he was right. Gibson could have used a few more carries though especially on the play where TH got picked. He also can't throw into traffic like that.

I don’t think TH saw the defender. He was shielded by someone. I forget who. A linebacker I believe. I didn’t mind being aggressive there with a throw. I thought we needed at least two more first downs to seal it and it was 2nd and long. |
Re: Giants postgame
How many years has it been since our offense and defense both showed up for the same game? It is uncanny. They make it hard on each other. O cant get in rhythm or D cant get off the field. I really thought this was the year we fielded a complete team. So far , not so much.

There was an offensive series earlier in the game, I believe when Cosmi got called for the PF. After the penalty, they were 1st and 22, and for some reason they decided to attempt 3 passes in a row, with two of them being long pass attempts. This is the type of play calling that drives me nuts. You have a lot of offensive talent to either run the ball, throw a screen pass or a short pass to gain some yardage. Not everything has to be a deep bomb. I think we have too much talent to be one-dimensional, and we have to mix in the run and short passes. |

I mean there was definitely enough there to throw the flag. It was holding by the definition of offensive holding - using your hands or arms to materially restrict an opponent or alter the defender's path or angle of pursuit. It is a foul regardless of whether the blocker's hands are inside or outside the frame of the defender's body. He absolutely restricted him from making the play on Daniels. You can see his jersey being pulled across his chest. I'm sure sometimes we don't see that called - and sometimes we do. If that makes it questionable, then I'll have to agree that it was questionable, but I'm ok with getting some of those every once in a while.
Great win last night. The Giants always come ready to play and WFT pulled it out. 1-1 after two games is a good start.
It was a great game, we had a bad start but we managed to break through.. You guys covered almost all points, especially about the defense.. So I want to point this out - Gibson averaged 5.3 yds per carry, why didn't Turner use him more in the game?
Like on 2nd and 7 at your own 22 yard line with 2:22 left on the clock and a 1 point lead? Good question. I'd like to hear the answer from Scott Turner on that bonehead call. |
Re: Giants postgame
TH Had 3 Big time throws (tight windows that are accurate) and a 75 grade last night. If it wasn't for that INT he would have cleared 80. Pretty damn good..
Danny Dimes has a 90... No surprise |

Since Gibson just came off a nice run for a 1st down I thought they should have kept feeding him. Not a major gripe I'm fine with being aggressive there too. |

Jamin Davis = 89 grade on just 27 snaps.. He was much better this game
CY = 62 Overall grade.. Yikes |
Haha yeah sorry believe me or feels weird for me too.
I'm usually standing there after loss telling everybody how Mason Foster actually had a good game... But this D is repeatingly letting us down and I've kinda had a enough. That's the thing, I think individually some guys played well (CY and Sweat made plays, Allen and Payne too, but the whole DL didn't produce enough. WJ3 had some nice break ups too, but the secondary as a whole sucked ass etc...) And I'm excited about Heinicke. Not checking out, I'll watch every snap. Heck I might even watch the All 22 of this one... But until they can play 8 consecutive quarters of solid defensive football, my expectations for this season sit just underneath the toilets of the 4th basement of your local supermarket parking lot.
