Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
If we lose to SF, praying we find a way to win, but if we lose our season is over. Lions and Giants will get the last two spots. At that point if I see anyone other than Howell under center Ill consider a boycott until Ron is shitcanned. What on Earth do we gain from playing noodle arm or wentz in the final two games? We lose the ability to see what we have in Sam and build accordingly- hopefully without dipshit playing GM again - in the offseason.
I wouldn’t say it’s over because Seattle will most likely lose to KC and the Lions have a road game against Carolina so anything can happen. We do need to win 2 of the next 3 tho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
This is true but Ron has filled the position with stopgaps since Haskins left - he is as much to blame here as Scott Turner.
To be fair to Ron, we know Dan continues to meddle with the QB position (see Wentz trade). So any decision at QB in my opinion is all Danny Boy's fault. That being said, the Giants showed a blueprint of how to win a game with a limited passing game. In the 98-yard drive where they score in the first half, Jones dinked and dunked his way to the end zone. I don't understand how or why this is not our plan. All we need is a QB to make short passes and prevent turnovers, while we run the hell out of the ball. Heinecke, Wentz, and Scott Turner can't get that through their thick heads. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
I don't think Dan had much to do w/ Wentz. That was mostly Ron and some Mayhew. They presented it to Dan and Dan said go w/ it. Not that I would ever stick up for Dan but that is pretty much how it went.

I don’t listen to much DC radio but Kevin Sheehan has mentioned regularly that Wentz was a Dan move. The wat he talks his sources are off the record so who really knows. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
- I'll try and clip it later today. But I'm pretty sure the infamous 3rd and 3 Samuel run was a plain an simple handoff from the ace... Watching live I had to rewind and rewatch to believe it...
- I don't think the team came out "unprepared". Despite coming out with only 3 points to show for it, we dominated the first quarter on both sides of the ball. In game adjustment and playcalling are the issue. - Even with a somewhat underwhelming perf by the Dline, the D did its job, our secondary, including Bobby "bad angle" McCain, has been playing way better lately. - We know we're limited with Heinicke... But why can't Turner call a game on our strengths ?! We get it Scott, you're smart and creative... But this roster right now is built to run old school football... Coach the offense you have, not the one you're fantasizing about! - I'm not usually one to linger on refs making bad calls... But the final 2 calls were outrageous. You don't signal Terry to be in the backfield, you still make the most ticky tac call ever on a run play where the tackle not being covered had zero impact, and the following play you suddenly go "let em play, no holds barred, hell in a cage" rules ? These 2 calls are atrocious separately, but the total absence of consistency highlighted by the fact they were made on back to back plays makes it either criminally incompetent, or flat out dishonest. Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
Is there one team other than Us that Taylor would start for? We are so limited at that position! even his completed passes are usually up for grabs.. factor in the mindless play calling ..and How bad is Wentz that the other players PREFER Taylor ? So many questions with this team ..

Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
Same team here that we saw the last couple months. They have to walk a tight rope (every game comes down to the last play) and this time it didn't work out. Refs didn't help, but neither did the offense. D held them to 13. If you can't break 20, you're going to lose some games.
Hoping we see better next week. I do agree that with 2 weeks to prep, this really wasn't a good showing. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
This lack of offensive production can be fixed real quick, but it won’t happen. Turner needs to quit fucking around passing and stick to pounding the ball with BRob, Gibson and Williams (Samuel is no secret anymore) and I don’t care what anyone says, start Howell. I guarantee this offense would score lots of points. Who cares if he’s a rookie, he’s had pre-season and 14 games to learn the offense. Wentz should be inactive and TH the backup.
|
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
My bad, not ace, shotgun, but plain and simple handoff to a WR in the backfield. I included the previous 2 and 3 flea flicker. That sequence is a case study of awful play call.

Losing last night actually gives us a first round game with Minny and the Giants one with San Fran. Lol
If we go 2-1 in the last three, and Detroit goes 2-1 we would still get in. We win out we are in for sure. It is an absolute possibility, and not very far fetched that we get in, but we need to win 2 of 3 and root like hell for anyone playing Detroit. Seattle is done. Giants are in. The crazy thing is losing that game last night might be a blessing in disguise. In almost any scenario where we would still get in it gives us Minny over SF. |

I had to share this. My gf is European and doesn't understand football all that well. This is part of her text to me today... lol
"All the calls went against the Commanders and a couple of times Daboll objected to an anti Giant call they reviewed and reversed it. I think you're right, Rivera is just an average coach. He was so passive while Daboll kept hounding the refs to change the calls. Rivera just takes it.. very frustrating... I think maybe the NFL does not want a Snyder team in the playoffs. Too bad the players are paying for it. What an American mafia the NFL is" |

Maybe, not advocating for the change but he would only have had to score 14 points in 4 quarters. Even being sacked and fumbling he is capable of scoring points which clearly Heinicke isn't. Even if you max protect on pass plays our receivers are capable of getting open and catching contested balls and maybe Scott runs the ball a lot more with Wentz in there allowing more play action. But the time to make the change was a couple of weeks ago. If (when) SF shuts this excuse for an offense down Wentz would have one must win game to turn it around or it is Howell time. For the record I don't think any of the QBs we have is going to get us in the playoffs, especially with this OL and Scott Turner running the offence. Ron should have dealt with the offensive play calling, or lack thereof, weeks ago. It has been happening since week 1. |

TH's big thing was avoiding sacks and he hasn't been doing that. IMO Wentz and TH are basically the same QB with Wentz's big arm being the only difference. If the QB is going to be sacked and fumble it seems better to have one that can actually throw deep down field. In the end Wentz or TH, it wont matter because this team isn't going anywhere. |

I know you are a big Howell advocate so I'd like your take. My take with Howell is if he isn't being considered to start it is because he hasn't shown he has what it takes in practice. There is a gap either in running the offense or playbook understanding that we are not privy to knowing. The other option is that the coaching staff is stubbornly plugging along with square pegs in round holes. |

I wouldn't rule out the latter option. Though it feels like it would be more accurately stated as "square heads in butt holes". Am I sounding disenchanted?..... first bids for the team due Friday apparently. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
Rivera is not going to play Howell in the middle of a playoff run...period. Maybe against SF, which I think they have no chance of winning, they bring in Wentz on some first down plays...let him hand off a few times, and throw it a few times taking some big shots...on first downs SF won't know if they're running or passing, could be a good curveball. They need to pull out all the tricks for this one. If Wentz hits a few big pass plays, could be the difference.

Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
I really don't see what TH is doing that is very different from Wentz. He's not using his legs to buy time or to scramble for yards, he's getting sacked a lot, and he's throwing deep passes he can't make.
IF we go to Wentz, they need to commit to the run, play the short/intermediate passing game, and take some deep shots once you've established the run. B. Rob was averaging 7 yards per run vs. the Giants and he ran the ball 12 times. That is RIDICULOUS and the coaching staff needs to be accountable for not playing to their strengths. B. Rob needs to have at least 20 runs per game. No QB is going to be successful if this stupid coaching staff doesn't run the ball. |
