Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
And Campbell got a bunch of completions from screens and garbage time. More important to look at more detailed stats:
QB Rate - McNabb = 92.9, JC = 86.4 TD% (TDs / Pass Att) - McNabb = 5.0, JC = 3.9 INT % (INT / Pass Att) - McNabb = 2.3, JC = 3.0 Adjusted Net Yds per ATT (complicated) - McNabb = 6.9, JC = 5.6 McNabb - 5 Time Pro Bowler, JC.....
for a 1 year loaner with minimally better stats(my opinion only), we gave up the 37th pick and a 4th next year. McNabb is what he is, but what good does he do us when he goes to the Vikings, or whereever. In the end he will be a minor improvement over JC and we will have given up 2 useful picks. But what's done is done. C'est la guerre. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
No doubt Sammy there is no comparison.. JC has never been a Franchise QB. DMcNabb is a future HOF.. (Hopefully SB champion also :) JC deserves another shot in another city. I bet we get a decent pick for him.
Thinking that they won't limit the voting to just his fan club, but I could be mistaken.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Mike Shanahan is about as close to a QB developing god as there is in the current NFL. I'm predicting a huge ressurection of McNabb's career. No more Fat Andy and 5000+ passes a game. No more being forced to be a pocket passer all day. Bootlegs are a frequent feature in Shanny's O. McNabb maybe primarily a pocket passer now, but we know what his instincts are. O is from the same coaching tree. No idiot head coach AND D-coordinator revealing their ENTIRE POKER HANDS, if you get the metaphor, to the opponent. A workout regiment that is sure to improve the performance of even the scrubs on the team.
The mean is 8 wins, and the standard deviation is 2 wins, give or take. |
Donovan will be the QB this year and for 4 - 6 years to come. NOw lets try to move 'los, JC, Carter and one of our TE's for some picks.
So he'll be our QB until he's 38-40 years old? Umm, no. |

1 year loner....... I can't see Allen making this move without Mcnabb assuring at least 3 years in Washington. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
McNabb got just as many of his completions from dumpoffs as Campbell did. Fact: McNabb had 15 passes of 20+ yards and Campbell had 14. Calling that an upgrade is stretching: McNabb is simply less accurate.
He just got even more yards from down the field plays, which won't translate for all of the obvious reasons.
If the stats I quoted, along with McNabb's Pro Bowls and playoff success aren't enough for you to admit he's a huge upgrade over Campbell then there's nothing that will change your mind. I think you've gone way overboard on supporting JC, but to seriously believe McNabb isn't a huge upgrade.....c'mon. You've got to look at more than just completion %. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Friday night of the draft just got boring, barring a trade into the second or third.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
FWIW, here's what John Clayton has to say about the deal...
Despite being 33 years old, McNabb can add to the Redskins what Brett Favre added to the Minnesota Vikings last season and Steve McNair added to the Baltimore Ravens in a trade in 2006. Franchise quarterbacks add points to the scoreboard. Favre added 5.7 points per game to the Vikings last season and they advanced from a 10-win team to a 12-win team. McNair added 5.5 points per game to the Ravens in 2006, and they had a 13-3 season. Former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs thought he drafted a franchise quarterback for Snyder when he took Jason Campbell in the first round of the 2005 draft. Campbell never produced enough points for the Redskins as a starter. Under Campbell, the Redskins never averaged more than 20.9 points a game, not good enough to be atop a division.
|

The draft came early for me! |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
If you guys dont think this trade is freakin exactly what we needed.....The numbers say it all
2009 Philadelphia Eagles Mc Nabb stats 22 td's- 10 Ints-3,553 yards- 92.3% completions %......Havent seen those numbers in Washington since Doug Williams!!
I guess your blind then.... JC stats TD's- 20 INT- 15 YRDS- 3618 Completion %- 86.4% and JC's OL was worse. So give both QB's the same decent OL and who would do better? Thats the question. I'm not a JC fan but I'm not a McNabb fan either. I think McNabb is better at reading defenses though. Slightly more accurate. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
What's next? Sign Flozell Adams and TO?

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Well, I think losing our 2nd rounder increases the urgency to acquire more picks in this year's draft. Drafting McNabb as a 2 or 3 year band-aid doesn't change our need for a QB of the future, and we still need plenty of help in other areas.
I forsee any combination of the following players traded: Carlos Rogers, Jason Campbell, Laron Landry, and Chris Cooley.
Yes, it is absolutely urgent that we trade that pick at #4 for more picks. I'm hoping for round 1, #13 from 49ers, and a 3rd and 5th rounder. I understand JC for a 3rd rounder, but what about the rest of that bunch? What are they worth? Would we really get rid of LL and CC? |

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I think it's safe to say whenever we do make our first pick in this upcoming draft it's obviously going to be a quarterback or a running back.
