Interesting that Brock Osweiler is now in Scout Inc.'s top 32 with a grade of 90 and ranked 22nd over all.
I'm telling you, over the weekend I watched some film of him and came away impressed. He's gangly when he runs but otherwise he throws well and gets the yardage with his feet if need be. I'd get PM, Weeden, and Osweiler. Osweiler is supposedly a 4-5th round pick..... yeah right. Take PM. Get some (2) FA WR's. Trade back in the draft. Take Weeden (maturity-age) late 1st. Take Osweiler second round. This way we have PM if healthy and two, not one, but two healthy young QB's to develope and hope one pans out if not both. |
McShay, whom I think is a joke of a scouter (see Jevan Snead) said that the more and more he's watched of Brock, the more and more he's convinced he'll be great.
A 2010 article about McShay....lol Todd McShay backlash builds | ProFootballTalk
Remember, last August he stated that Jevan Snead was better than Colt McCoy and would get drafted in the top five. He has yet to publicly retract that statement. “One of the reasons the kid came out was because of what McShay said. The family thought McShay knew and everyone else was wrong. . . . He has problems with game management, accuracy and leadership among other things, but pretty boy Todd thought he was great because of one good game (the Cotton Bowl) a year ago. McShay is a pretty face who comes across like he knows what he is talking about. He does have good presence, but knows nothing.” A common name we’ve heard when it comes to McShay is Andre Woodson. McShay championed Woodson during the 2007 season. Woodson ended up being a sixth-round pick, and he’s now out of the league. The teams knew that Woodson wasn’t as good as McShay was saying. The problem is that the player and his family don’t have access to what the teams are thinking. The player and his family see and hear the stuff that gets played on television, and they tend to believe it when ESPN attaches to the talking head the phony, official-sounding title of “director of college scouting.”
Interesting note about Clausen since he's relevant in this discussion. Apparently some scouts thought he was highly talented.
“On draft day McShay will look like a fool because whether or not you like Clausen as a person he is very talented,” the source said. “He has more training and game time in a pro system than any quarterback in the draft. His improvement from ’08 to ’09 was tremendous. If Notre Dame had a defense, Charlie Weis would still be there coaching. Offense was not the problem. I will agree that Clausen may have some A-hole in him but he is extremely talented. He has a strong arm and is very accurate. Plus he has played a lot in a pro system.”
|

SO was the whole football team. They won 2 games. They still are. |

Very true. I suppose the situation they had in 2010 can make an individual player look worse than he actually is, but it is hard to deny some of Clausen's flaws. |
Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign
I wonder if Schneed knows McShay, fellow Richmond Spider. He's not quite the arrogant ass he's made out to be but he has the misfortune of being compared to Kiper, one of the profession'a most genuine people. I'm curious to see what McShays long term prospects are. Because his staunchest supporters are no longer in positions of power.

McShay will be replaced by Mel Kiper's hair. That thing should have its own Twitter account. |

We could always use next years 1 or 2 on a young guy also. |

That's the main knock on him. |

I would not categorize Carolina as awful. A lot of injuries to their D killed them. With Beason an company returning and a defensive heavy off-season they be in the playoff hunt no problem. |
Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign
If we do sign Peyton Manning what would be the point of drafting a 29 year old Weeden? Peyton plays 3 seasons and then Weeden makes his first start at age 32? That's just stupid anyway you slice it. Especially if we draft him 1st round. If Shanny thinks Weeden is the guy (and I hope he doesn't) he better be starting day one.

Kiper is, and always will be, the man. Glad to hear he's for real from a trustworthy insider :) |
