I think I'd prefer a DT, or a run-stuffing DE. I know he's not all that popular but what Phillip Daniels brings to the team is really overlooked in my opinion, and we need the next PD.

LB might not be bad either. Has Ben Moffit been taken?
Funny you say that - I have Lionel Dalton DT from Arizona as the highest rated player left. I think he would be a great value in the 7th.
You know, this may sound silly but I think the Durant pick may end up being the best pick for us. Serisously. Hear me out.

Last year Frost was pretty good, but he had a lot of punts returned for good yardage. I would chalk that up to hang time issues. Our defense constantly started on a short field as a result. This pick may help out a great deal on the defensive side of the ball.

I wonder what was our opponents average starting field position after change of possesion?
C'mon. He's a punter.
Do you think the Redskins will ever draft a DE?

I would like to see us at least pick up someone in the 7th. Maybe Jason Jones, Jeremy Geathers or Marcus Howard.
Vinny & Snyder have said that they are comfortable with Marcus Washington & Chris Wilson as pass rushers. But I want a LB for a safety factor in the 7th

You are very clearly a Hawaii fan or just a big Brennan fan because you are pushing him. The truth is, he will probably never be a starter unless the person in front of him gets injured. I just can't see him being a quality QB in the NFL.

Booty is overrated??? I'm not so sure about that. You don't start at USC for two years if your not good. If anything Colt Brennan is waaaaaaay overrated. Name me one QB that has come out of college running a run and shoot offense that has made it in the pros? What ever happened to Timmy Chang? Those guys just never seem to be comfortable getting under center and adjusting to the NFL game. He looked terrible at the All Star games and he looked even worse against Georgia. I would've taken Andre Woodson.

Diet Pepsi Machine still hasn't been drafted, we could take him and plug him in at linebacker until Rocky heals.

I don't know what we're going to go for since I've been wrong this entire draft lol, but I hope they don't get cut like every 7th rounder from the Gibbs years.

Look on the bright side, we won't be seeing Derrick Frost boot a 59 yarder in a meaningless game, and then the game is on the line and we absolutely need to pin them back we won't be seeing him punt a 29 yarder.

I will absolutely admit I am a closet Hawaii fan, and a big Brennan fan. But I seriously doubt ANY person on this site has watched Brennan more than I have, and being a former QB (granted NAIA div1, but a qb none the less), I do know a little about the position.
I'm not saying he's polished, nor is he NFL ready...but some coaching and some clip board carrying will do this kid wonders.

You need to ask yourself why Zorn was so high on him, and considering Zorn is a former QB, he obviously sees something some of us don't.

you're so freakin right about that. whenever we need a monster punt frost always seems to shank one.

Maybe we aren't picking a DE cus we have some weird deal that's gonna go down with Miami for Jason Taylor...I saw some said Randle El for Taylor. I'd do that. Randle El has been a disappointment for me so far as a SKin.

I didn't say he was a piece of poo.

BTW- the same argument was made for Chris Wienke. "You don't start at FSU if you're no good". Obviously a lot of GMs in this league agree with me that Booty is overrated.

Even if it doesn't work out, so what, it only cost us a 6th pick. We took Palmer not too long ago and he's already gone. This won't hurt us at all, but I think it has the potential to be a good pick in the future. Brennan is better than you think he is.

I don't think that "can" happen with the cap issues it would create, but you never know what we could pull off.

We gotta take a DE or DT...is there anyone of any worth still available? It'd be great to get a gem this late that we could groom for a few years or get some solid depth.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Brennan broke a ton of records (albeit with Hawaii) so it's not like the guy is a piece of crap. He was drafted as a back-up, not a starter. He'll go at least a year as the #3 learning to play the pro game before he ever even sniffs the field.
And as much as it sucks to draft a punter, it would be nice to have a guy who can actually get some yardage when it counts. The guy was the top punter in football so like someone said before, hopefully we have seen the end of the 29 yard punt from our own endzone

I wouldn't call ARE a disappointment- we definitely overpaid for him but most knew that from the beginning.

Well with Collins being 36 or 37 I was hoping that we'd bring someone in that could take over the #2 in a year or two. Booty ran a real pro offense and ran it pretty damn well everytime I saw him play. Brennan ran a gimmick offense that doesn't work against legit teams. See Georgia. But I hear what your saying. No real risk here. I just wish we'd have taken a guy that has starting potential a few years down the road.

I think mauiredskinbarn (or whatever his name is) would probably differ. Why did you play football if you were 2nd team all-american at soccer? Did you get a chance to play to soccer in college too?

Meanwhile, Kyle Busch wins today at Talladega giving Joe Gibbs Racing a Sprint Cup win. This after Tony Stewart won the Nationwide race yesterday.

Good weekend overall for Redskins past, present, and future

I'm not a big fan of the Brennan pick at all. I think there were other guys that would have been a better fit. I'll be really surprised if Brennan develops into a quality player. The run and shoot guys rarely carry over well to the pros. Does anyone know of anybody that actually turned into a good pro??

No...Harding didn't have a soccer team, and I turned down a scholarship to Chicago institute of Art.
I didn't receive any scholarship offers to play soccer (back then it wasn't as big as it is now, most colleges don't have the money to offer scholarships for a soccer team). The day I graduated high school was the day I stopped playing soccer. I moved on to baseball and football.

Stewart was in an ugly wreck that started with Jr. though. He finished in the 30's somewhere didn't he?

Busch is off to an amazing season, and between all his racing mediums, he is having one of the best seasons for any racecar driver ever. Hendrick made the wise choice in terms of demeanor by keeping Mears over Busch, but not talent.

I know you were joking, but just to be clear to everyone else, I turned down an Art scholarship. I also had a partial scholarship offer to Monserat (sp?) college of Art in the Boston area, but I wanted to get far far away from my family at that time.

Really? My wife said the same thing, but when I looked at it (admittedly only 1 time) it looked like Stewart and Jr rubbed sending Jr down the track then back up it. Labonte was in the mix, but it wasn't until after Jr. I thought.
