Not a problem....just another pin in my SBF doll.......... |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
he'd also need to grow about 2 inches in height. As a 3-4 NT, he would need to be tall enough to see the flow of the play in hopes of redirecting traffic. As a 4-3 DT, he's tall enough as his job would be penetrating into the backfield...
Really? Casey Hampton is 6'1" 325lbs and is arguably the best NT in the league. Mindfact maybe? |

This is a List of the Redskins all time 1st round picks, I took a look at our picks since 99 starting with Champ, Honestly outside of a few guys we have drafted pretty good imo.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft
What about Aubrayo Franklin of the 49ers? The Guy is 6'1 317 and is considered an elite Nose Tackle. Jay Ratliff is also barely over 300 pounds yet he's easily one of the few Cowboys that actually deserved to go to the pro bowl over the course of the last couple years.
Everyone wants Vince Wilfolk but the fact of the matter is that 3-4 teams are having no trouble plugging inplayers that are less then 320 pounds. 6'1 is actually an ideal height for a Nose Tackle in todays NFL as Guards and Centers are usually 6'2/6'3. Teams want guys that can get under the pads of these interior players, hence the short-squaty typecast. Casey Hampton 6'1, Vince Wilfolk 6'2, BJ Raji 6'2, Aubrayo Franklin 6'1, Kelly Gregg 6'0.
He's a Big 317lbs, I bet that that weight is a lie, you really think Vince Wilfork is 320? And Casey Hamptons 330? They lie about their weights to get incentives in their contracts, because of the weight they're required to be at. Franklin, none the less, is good, but I'd take my chances on drafting a NT like a Phil Taylor, Kenrick Ellis, Jerrell Powe who are all well over 330lbs, than paying for another vet like franklin or drafting and unproven NT who we'd be trying to change his position from 4-3 DT to 3-4 NT. |
Isn't that crazy how well he did at the combine on a broken foot
A DB from Virginia pulled a hammy while running the 40, still he posted a 4.39 time. Insane. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft
It's so unpredictable right now with the labor mess, and add to that Shanallenahan's natural secrecy, that no one can say with any definitiveness what's happening.
That said, here are some rumors -Want a veteran RB to share the load with Portis -Want Sidney Rice -Want Davin Joseph and if JB asks for too much, Ryan Harris -Rogers is asking for a lot of money. They've been close to an agreement, then not so close, then close again, then not so close. I think ultimately he stays. But that's just my guess -Keep hearing Quinn at #10, and maybe look to trade into the 1st for Locker late if he slips. Or possibly trade down and get Locker (or another QB: Ponder, McElroy often mentioned). Either way, not really hearing much about Locker at #10 itself. Personally, I think if they want Locker they'd be taking a pretty big gamble by waiting too far down the 1st round Still, it's so unpredictable right now because teams don't know if they can even act on free agency I'm curious if Jenkins or Woody would be considered? Sidenote: I had mentioned a while back that we planned on bringing Matt Bowen back for a follow-up Q&A following the combine. We're going to put that on hold and (hopefully) will have surprise Q&A. I won't say who it is. It won't be a instantly recognizable name. But it's someone who really knows the business and spent time in a key role with the Redskins. It will be different from the usual player Q&As. We've spoken a bit recently, and I think you'll enjoy this one
Smoot...Please tell me the one about portis sharing the load was a typo and you meant to say ATV. They are not planning on bringing him back at reduced pay are they? |

Whoops. Good catch. Yes, I meant ATV. Portis is not coming back. He's been out of the plans for a while now |

Just on your gut feeling SS, what are the chances we actually get Rice? From 1-10 odds |
