re: Let's talk
Was at a taphouse a week ago, keep drinking this 3 Brothers Brewing IPA "The Admiral"
The Admiral | Three Brothers Brewing | Harrisonburg, VA | BeerAdvocate Really good local stuff. To be honest, in the last year Ive been leaving the national beers and just drinking the Virginia stuff. Fresher and taste just as good. |
re: Let's talk
These are the Virginia Breweries Ive really been enjoying:
Three Brothers Brewery, As I mentioned above very good beer, first time trying and will be drinking more: Three Brothers Brewing I grew up down the street from this location and Im not being a homer here, but these guys probably have the best lineup, best tasting all-round of what they offer: Center of the Universe Brewery: Welcome « Center of the Universe Brewing Center of the Universe Brewing Devil's Backbone Brewery. Discovered these guys about 5 years ago on the Virginia Wine Trail area. I was tired of drinking wine and needed a beer. These guys are solid, but their brewery and location is amazing: Devils Backbone Brewing Company Our Beers | Hardywood Park Craft Brewery Hardywood Brewery has really taken over Richmond. I met the owner/brewmaster when they first open and got a personel tour with a couple friends. Their overall lineup is ok, but their Burbon DIPA Beer is simply amazing. One of the best original tasting beer all time. Their brewery is near the Skins camp in Richmond. Blue Mountain Brewery | The Beauty of Virginia. The Bounty of Nature. The Art of Brewing. Blue Mountain is brewing my favorite beer right now: Full Nelson Virginia Pale Ale | Blue Mountain Brewery | Afton, VA | BeerAdvocate Full Nelson Pale Ale, cant stop drinking it. |

re: Let's talk
Out of about a dozen "microbrews" so far, a lot of NC brands, I like Hell's Belle best, so far. Like regular Killian's, but a lot tastier.
Out of the worst, Natty Greene beers taste nasty, to me. And some of the other beers have way too much tangy-ness to them. (too much hops?) Blecchhh. |
Killians is coors. Is this a true micro brew? Either way its a great name! Cheers!

Honestly, I feel like there's some snobbery against the "big brewers", especially on the Beer Advocates website. Yes, Killian's, Guiness, and St. Pauli Girl put the Coors/Bud/Miller usual beers to shame. But almost half the "microbrews" that I had tasted worse. Either tasted kinda skunky though I think that wasn't it (Natty Greene), and the other bad ones was like their machine accidentally put too much of hops or something in it, like when a soda machine puts too much carbonation in the drink. Hell's Belle is made by http://bigbossbrewing.com. I guess they're a microbrew. I think I have a lot to learn which is why I'm trying different beers. it's fun, and looking up Beer Advocate is fun too. Cheers! |
re: Let's talk
I'm drinking this beer called Sierra Nevada pale ale. May have heard of it, I would describe it as dank nugs and maybe one of the best beers ever.

Maybe things have changed. Dont know. Age is just a number and beer is just something that makes me remember to forget. :) |

That has been around since I was old enough to drink. I moved from California 2 years ago, It has been made in Northern California for over 30 years, I think almost all stores carry it, maybe it only started selling in Virginia a little while ago? |

re: Let's talk
If I had to pick one beer to have for the rest of my life, SN Pale just might be my pick.
I did one of those make your own sixer deals at the grocery store the other day, all SN brews. Pale, Torpedo, and Ruthless Rye. |
re: Let's talk
I believe I've mentioned my love for pretty much any brew Harpoon puts out, but they may have topped themselves with The Long Thaw. It's a white IPA that's mildly hoppy, with some citrus flavor thrown in to make it really drinkable. I definitely recommend trying it.

Naw I was just being an ass. Sometimes we get caught up in the hot new thing, when the original is still the best. I cut my teeth drinking sn pale ale round '96 when I started drinking good beers. Always solid Matty, torpedo has never done it for me but the ruthless rye has always been great. |
