Really weird as I get older and songs just pop in my head from my adolescence for no reason at all. This one happened a couple weeks ago and I went back and listened to this “coming of age” classic album. I listened to this one alot probably from 15-17…then never much after that

Still a big debut album, Violent Femmes, released in early 80s but I got into it a decade later

That album is a true classic. I recently did a Spotify deep dive on VF and they're still going strong. Their most recent album was released in 2019.

And let's not forget this classic homage... Hawke, Ryder, Stiller, Garofalo, and the Femmes??? That's some quality filmmaking!!

The consistent sound on that album seems like it was just done in one take. Also “less is more” concept of indie lofi production which has really been lost in today’s sound…it works unbelievable here.

The album is a unique cult classic. I think albums work better at different points in people’s lives, while it’s a nostalgic time travel for me, it still holds up today as just a fun tunes.

Reality Bites…just a perfect movie in 94. Glad to find someone to reminisce over this Canuck!

I agree... That album deserves more credit. Like you said it was totally unique, especially for 1983.

As for Reality Bites - love that movie. A pretty accurate snapshot of the times IMO.

I think we aged ourselves with this one but the reminiscing is fun!!

I saw the Violent Femmes open for the grateful dead in 1991. They were a last minute one off surprise. It was fuckin great. Rocked American Music and all their greatest hits.

I’m gonna give it a listen…i find it especially hard to listen to older classics like this…my Aquarius kick in and it’s just a flood of nostalgia of what I was doing and who I was with.

I will still never forget Bonnarroo 2008 main stage Pearl Jam 3 hour throw down. Wow. This skinny country guy from Arkansas next to our group shared a bowl of his homegrown with me and a friend…him and I floated above the 100k crowd half baked style people watching and band listening. High AF…intense performance

I saw PJ for the first time at Lollapalooza in 92, one of the craziest shows I've seen. When they hit the stage the whole place just went berserk. The energy from the crowd was unbelievable.
