Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
About Sanchez being hispanic, i was also wondering if he would be the first hispanic starting NFL QB - if so, the Redskins would probably double their fanbase overnight. We'd probably also steal alot of Cowboys fans, so it would be nice to stick it to Jerry. That said, i really hope ethnicity isnt a factor in Snyders wanting Sanchez. I think Sanchez merits consideration based on the quality of player that he is alone.
That said, I disagree that its going to cost two firsts and more to move up from 3rd to 13. The Chiefs dont even want to take a player that high and are desperate to move down. High 1st round picks arent as "valuable" as they used to be, and it wouldnt surprise me if the Chiefs did the deal for our 1st, 3rd, and a 2nd-4th round pick next year. Granted, Pioli probably knows he could get Danny to overpay for the pick, but i would hope Snyder would be shrewd enough to realize HE has the upper hand in this situation - the Chiefs are desperate to move down and theres no need to sell the farm. Along those lines, if Snyder really REALLY wants Sanchez, why not just wait and see what happens. Let the first 4 picks go by and see if sanchez is still there. If he makes it past the Seahawks, he'll likely fall to the Jags and we could trade with them. Its also possible he falls to us - although thats not likely. Looking at a number of mocks, i think we're almost certain that one of Sanchez, Orkapo, or Smith will fall to 13. At this point, i think the smartest move would be to just let the top 12 picks play out, then see if one of those 3 is still on the board. If so, we will have plenty of offers from other teams wanting to trade up. Even if we really want Sanchez, and another team takes him before us, that doesnt mean we couldnt do something after the fact. We could still trade our 13 plus additional picks/players to the team that drafted Sanchez. I certainly don't think theres a need to trade all the way up to 3 prior to the draft. |
I hope you're wrong, but if not, hopefully there's another team (ala the Bears) that will save us from DS's stupidity and put together a better deal to grab Sanchez.
I'm with SC Skins....WTF is DS so enamored with a one year wonder (at USC no less) with sub-par arm strength ?????
My guess is he likes his confidence and the fact he's a more vocal leader on the field than JC. A lot of teams are loving him right now, not just the Skins. |

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
First Hispanic American to Win Individual League Statistical Championship: Eddie Saenz, Halfback (USC). Washington Redskins 1947 (kickoff return yardage)
hispanic from USC proof that Sanchez is the baby jesus and we should give it all up for him |

Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Good points, but I could see the Chiefs more likely trading with the Jaguars. Because if they fall past the Broncos they may not get the guy they supposedly really want-Tyson Jackson. Plus, I think there's a really good chance that Sanchez doesn't fall past the Rams at #2
This is exactly what I've been wondering all along. Why wouldn't the Rams take him at #2? Apart from the fact that Spagnuolo is a defensive guy who might use his first pick on defense, I can't figure out why St. Louis wouldn't begin grooming Bulger's replacement. At least that's what I hope. |

EEEEEEEWWWWW!!!! Peter Griffin just got a mustache...I know! |
Re: Mark Sanchez at 13th?
Call me crazy but I don't think that drafting Sanchez with the 13th overall pick is that bad of an idea. Best case It would push JC to preform better and if he does we have a situation like San Diego had a couple years back with Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers. If he doesn't play better we have Sanchez who would be ready to step in and play like carson plamer did with the Bengles. The one thing I don't want is for Washington to trade a bunch of picks to trade up and get him though.

At least that's what I hope.
And the Rams are switching to a West Coast Offense. |

And when did we come out and say we're willing to part with next years picks for Sanchez? |
