Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
Rex is like blood in the water...the Defense smell it the minute he steps on the field. Right now Beck has the confidence that this team needs to see in the huddle.

http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/43892-rex-grossman-named-starting-qb.html
Why did you think that would be interesting? Honest question, after all there was a poll where I believe a large majority wanted Beck but a substantial minority wanted Grossman. Also, not many of us(if any) are sold on Beck or Grossman leading this team after this year, and so why would a thread where a fan base comes to accept the decision made by their team be of any exciting interest? Again, seriously wondering what made you think it. |

Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
At this point I don't care. Personally if Beck was any better he'd have been starting already, but he was not .... most likely for a reason. I think the situation was this;
Grossman- Knows the playbook inside and out and is able to switch the play at the LOS to a more favorable play the defense is giving him. I think he's more accurate on the deep passes. Definitly a pocket passer and poised. Beck- Has better legs for roll outs and for running if need be. Has a stronger arm and can throw the ball farther, but is not as accurate on the deep ball. I think due to both not being a complete package the coaching staff had to decide what they wanted from a QB and had to decide which QB was better suited. I think in the end Grossman won the job because of his ability to switch the play. I don't hate Beck, but if he was better he already would have been starting. At this point I hope they do start Beck. Like the rest of you lets see what he "can" and or "can't" do. Trust me I was just as excited prior to the season starting with the assumption that Beck was starting simply because Grossman can not scramble for a 1st down to save his life, but I accepted that there was a reason Beck was not starting. The problems I think we will see is more sacks because Beck will probably not change the play at the LOS and will run the play sent in which will result in a sack. He'll make some good plays just like Grossman did but I honestly don't think either QB will out play the other and the fans who have been clamering for the change will be slightly dissapointed. All in all ...... this team needs more OL depth next year and a QB out of the draft. |
Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
No, not at all. If we truly want to win this season get Carson Palmer. The Bengals are ready to deal. VY is a headcase. He can't make the adjustment from God at Texas to just a NFL starting QB. In saying this, I am not saying I want Palmer, just saying if you want a real franchise type QB NOW get Palmer. Young is a wash in my book. Yeah, you can get him cheap, but he would be another McNabb at best.
LOL, please don't tell me people are still chanting the Young name? I was suprised at all the Young fans here who wanted the team to pick him up and thank god we didn't because just look how bad he is. Two times he was put in the game and he sucked. I have an Eagle fan I work with who is bad mouthing Young because he sucks. I'm not a Palmer fan and really don't think he's much better then Grossman or Beck but trading this late in the season? he wouldn't be worth a start until next year after he's had time to digest the scheme and play calls. |

Well the good news for you is we should find out by Wed. I'm just seriously hoping Beck doesn't let you down on Sun. |
Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
This past year our draft strategy was to move down and infuse youth at many different positions. We did a good job of this. We have a good surrounding cast for a franchise QB.
But now it is time to get that QB. I will be happy if we take the opposite approach in the offseason by going all-in to draft a talented rookie QB. If it takes trading several picks to get one studly QB, so be it. |

Rex has had 9 Int's (League High) in the last 4 games, IDT Beck can be any worse lol |
Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
Personally I don't think it matters.
The QB we need to take us to the playoffs is not on the roster. I'd rather just go thru the motions, finish the season and hopefully find a way to get the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the draft next year. |
Re: Who do you want to start at QB?
Here's another opinion of the situation...
Why Mike Shanahan may start Grossman over Beck Grossman may have thrown a ton of INT's but I also have seen a ton of balls that should have been caught or the receiver should have made and attempt to go up after the ball and or fight for it. Our receivers are not the type to go up and challenge for a ball in the air. Heck our receivers are not the types to be told the ball will be in the center of the field on the 10 yard line go get it. I wish we did have those types of WR's but we don't. Which is why I can see Beck throwing just as many INT's as Grossman because although Beck has a stronger arm and will throw the ball farther.... I can see where the receiver's won't go after the ball and the other teams Safeties or CB's will. |

I don't want to see us tank because there are fans out there who would be shouting for MS to be fired and someone else brought in. I too agree with you that our franchise QB is not on the roster though. I don't know who said it or wrote it but I had seen or heard somewhere that it might take like 3, 1st round draft picks to move up to 1st place. I'm not for that either. But whoever the team is eyeing has to be mobile as all get out and have a strong arm to throw deep. The other side of the coin is if the team is just not all there yet and yeah we might make the play offs but no much farther then I'd also like to see us playing the young WR's more to get them ready for next year also. Why each week one Rookie WR can't be active to get playing time is a wonder to me. |
