Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Heard scout Chris Landry, who has been critical of the skins in the past in free agency, wholeheartedly praise the approach and went down every transaction giving it high praise. Said Roberts and hatcher were the right call and fit. Said he have to see the contract of hatcher but assumed with Bruce it would fine. Said Riley and orakpo were the right call. Not overpaying for free safety was the right call, said Chris Clemons should be someone we needed to look at. Even mentioned geathers, sharp ton and hey ward were all good role players made sense and good value. Porter he said would be a good value, thrives in the slot. He mentioned that both safetys needed to be upgraded for sure. He only concern was the guard was an over pay but likes the fit in the offense. Mentioned Steiger move to center is a stronger position for him.
I was surprised he was so positive, good stuff coming from Landry |

I was surprised he was so positive, good stuff coming from Landry
I've always liked/respected Chris Landry. He doesn't always say stuff that 'skins fans want to hear, but looking back, I'm not sure he wasn't right about most. I'm not close enough to talent evaluation to say if we've truly upgraded thus far, but at least the FO is trying to and most moves appear to be "smart" moves and not reaching for over-hyped stars past their prime. |

Who knows? It's Free Agency; anything could happen. I'm pleased to hear that we may have a shot at signing him. I think he's be good as a RT. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Antonio Smith who we were looking at signed with the Raiders. 2 years 9 mil.

Landry is good because he talks skill set, best fits scheme-wise and of course film breakdown. I think what u gotta understand is he can say one thing but if the coaching staff takes a guy and uses him wrong then it wasn't cause Landry was incorrect. |

It depends on Penn's options, apparently Browner leveraged "interest" from the Redskins for a better contract......that is why there was so much conflicting information last night |

Pretty straight forward analysis. I hope Lavaou is more than what he thinks but he could be right. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Tampa Bay newspaper calls Donald Penn "career pillow"............... first Bruce Campbell career underachiever, now Penn ?????
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Well, Bruce Campbell is not here anymore, that is a relief. But Penn would slide right into the starting RT role, and is a definite upgrade over Tyler Polumbus. This would actually be the one signing that I would consider the best FA move the skins have made thus far, if it happens.
just stumbled across this gem, didn't think it warranted its own thread; put it here
