Sam was really impressive yesterday, really impressive. EB called a good game too. I'd love to see a little more run/pass balance but EB just doesn't seem to care much about running.
That loss was clearly on the defense.
The loss was not clearly on the defense - it was on the coaches and 100% on the coaches. The coaching staff gifted the Eagles two TDs. The Redskins almost certainly would have gone into halftime ahead 17-3 if the coaches didn't call or allow (Ron) the worst play call in the NFL this season. And if Ron would have challenged (any other coach would have in that situation) that 4th down pass by the Eagles that is another TD taken away from the bad guys. |

Bottom line is 38 points on the board, can't win a lot of games like that. The defense has been a massive flop all year. |

The defense has been a massive flop all year.
Do we have good players and a terrible DC? Or bad and overrated players and a terrible DC? Defense was supposed to be the strength of the team, it clearly is not. We don't really have a strength. |
I’m sorry, terrry needs to make one of those catches yesterday just like Dotson needed to make that catch last week. The sack by Reddick was 1000% on Wylie as well. He wasn’t perfect, but Howell had a great game. Overal, the protection was good too, there is a correlation there
i agree i just pulled that from a espn article SH had a better day then Terry |

When the other teams knows you're throwing the ball every single down, they're going to get some on you as you'll get some on them. When you are throwing 52 passes sacks, ints, batted balls, dropped balls are gonna happen. But for Terry to drop two in a row... Brutal. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
We are on a path towards that weird moment where Sam seems to be the guy, and we have a top 5 pick with a guy like Drake Maye sitting there….

If Maye is available when you are picking, you take him. I like Howell, but I'm not passing on an elite QB prospect if we're picking that high. Howell is still valuable even if just as the back-up QB. He is on a cheap ass contract. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Howell ain’t a backup .. you guys do realize we picked Young with number 2 overall pick … how’s that working out ??
How many can’t miss QBs are huge flops .. a lot Let’s see Cousins was a mid-late rounder and he was the best we had in a while … until now …Sam in my opinion is the QB !! Let’s get him help like a Oline and a TE … I’m tired of this team moving on from our best players ..why not trade Sam now .. we can get number one for him .. I’ll bet minny would do that !! My point is we got a young Qb that has had some struggles but he is growing and I believe will be a starter for a long time .. |

Either way, it's a seriously underperforming unit for whatever reason
Seriously underperforming - for a unit that was supposed to be the strength of the team this year. 2nd to last in points per game allowed, and bottom of the pack in most defensive stats that matter. It's hard to believe that JDR still has a job. Who TF would replace him though. There's no unit that is playing well, so who would you 'promote'? Both Ron and Jack's sons are on the coaching staff. I didn't even know that... What a joke. |

There isn't any rule where every team gets 1 of them. I'm not passing on Maye if he's available. And I really like Howell. We can have both for 2 years if that's what is needed. |

I'm not sniffing a QB in the first round. Sam has had his bad moments, but considering the position he has been put in most of the year, I'm not sure how you could have a negative opinion about him after 9 total games in the NFL. Who was the last "can't miss" QB, Trevor Lawrence? So far Sam has played better than Trevor did through his first 9 games. Give Sam an OL, an OC who isn't trying to lead the league in passing attempts per game, and a defense that isn't trying to lead the league in yards per play, and he could really thrive. |
