Offensive tackle Tony Pashos set to visit Redskins today Chad Clifton apparently isn't the only offensive tackle who will be visiting Redskins Park today. Tony Pashos, an unrestricted free agent from San Francisco, is scheduled for a visit in Washington, according to Aaron Wilson of the NationalFootballPost.com. Pashos, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 326 pounds, played under Washington offensive line coach Chris Foerster in both San Francisco and Baltimore. He also played two seasons in Jacksonville. In recent weeks, it seemed the 49ers were getting close to working out a deal that would keep Pashos in San Francisco. That might not be the case, though. Pashos, 29, and Foerster are believed to have a close relationship and San Francisco coach Mike Singletary was asked during the NFL Scouting Combine whether Foerster's departure would make it tougher for the 49ers to keep Pashos. "I don't think so. I talked with Tony. I think Tony had some familiarity with Chris Foerster. But I talked with Tony, and Tony feels comfortable about what we're doing," Singletary said. "He feels good about what we're doing in San Francisco. Certainly, they had a good relationship, but hopefully things work out where Tony is back with us. But I know he feels good about what we're doing. . . .Hopefully, it works itself out. But once again it has to work for both sides and hopefully it gets done." The fact that the Redskins have at least two tackles stopping by today should not be read as a free agency competition between Clifton and Pashos, however. The team could sign both and start next season with new faces playing both left and right tackle. |
I agree...upgrade, but will this mean we're not drafting a LT with #4?
I doubt it, if the front office had any faith in JC they'd draft an O-lineman. Since they don't, they're going to aggressively pursue a QB as we did last year IMO. |

I could really see us signing Pashos and Clifton, and still using 2 picks on the OL.

We're actually addressing needs instead of wants. What a difference a real GM makes. |

If they didn't have faith in him, he'd be tendered at a lower price and probably traded by now. I think Shanahan is going to use Campbell in his plans, at least for this year. |

I love that we are taking our time with FA. No crazed rush to sign the most expensive player on the market.
Kudos to Allen and Shanahan. |

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
We are addressing the O-line, with reasonable priced free agents and not going after over priced big names!!?? my head is about to explode...

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Fred Smoot: I went to four redskin games two earlier in your career at Washington and when you came back. Each time you showed love to the fans in the stands, while Darrel Green snubbed his nose and walked right on by. And you were the same guy at the last two games. Thanks
Rock Cartright: Thanks, tough guy, solid special teamer, seemed like a good teamate and very coachable. Antwan Randell El: Always said the right things, it just didnt work out. (did he ever return a punt for a TD as a Redskin?) Todd Collins: Ill never forget "THE PLAYOFF RUN" and the Famed "COllins to Yoder Combination" against da bears!! You my friend are a true professional! Randy Thomas: Injuries just kept him from being a beast. Man but when you pulled around and led Betts on the sweep against the cowgirls and Betts hit Terrence Newman right square in the back!!!! I loved it, Parcells thought otherwise.lmao Laddell Betts: Ran as hard as any back, i liked you so much it really hurt me to curse you everytime you fumbled. sometimes |

Well, reasonable priced free agents are just about the only thing available. Unfortunately there isn't a marquee offensive lineman available in free agency (UFA). Which is why I hope they still draft a first or second round tackle. |
