Re: Pics For Sharing & Debating
This is my issue with a "professed" scientist. You declare no proof will change your view on the matter (no pun) regardless of what it is. How can people call this sham a scientist? No scientist would ever say anything like this as noted by the response from Bill Nye.
Agreed. Ham (and many other Christians & theists) erroneously asserts that the infinite truth is, in fact, knowable to us finite beings. He compounds this error, by stating this knowledge can be gained by ignoring our five senses. His is simply the flip side to atheistic claims that the universe is bound by our five senses (i.e. - if a thing's existence in the universe cannot be discovered by our five senses, it does not exist in the universe. Thus, the universe itself is not infinite but, rather, is limited to the ever expanding human ability to see, hear, feel, taste or smell the universe). Ham seems a nice enough person - as does Nye for that matter, but claims to ownership of any of the universe's "Ultimate Truths" is a sure path to destruction - either your own or that of others. In the timeless (and contemptuous) words of Pontius Pilot ..."What is truth?" |

Science vs Creationism Bill Nye vs Kent Ham Good debate. Thought this is a good place to post this as well.
So the debate is Ham on Nye? I'll have mine with cheese and mayo, please. I'm with JoeRed. Creationists like Ham always end up twisting facts and arguing ridiculous things. And, as NC pointed out, to say that "No evidence can sway my position" is not only unscientific, it is downright anti-scientific. Just shows that Ham is uninformed about scientific method. |

I see no reason for trouble. The list of atheist religions is long. This list includes, but is not limited to: Philosophical Daoism Indian Buddhism Advaita Vedanta Hinduism traditional Sioux metaphysics Ojibwa metaphysics Anyone who attacks or supports religion solely on the concept of God misses this fact that there are many atheist religions. |

A painting assumes a painter. Creation assumes a Creator. |

Nope. Several religions, Daoism being one of them, talk about creation as an impersonal process. They describe creation as a natural unfolding of the universe without a creator God getting involved at all. For example, we can talk about the big bang as a sacred event which created a sacred universe, but creation in this case would happen through atomic processes, not the activities of a supreme being. Thus it is perfectly possible to have creation without a creator. |
There is so much in our Universe to be awed by that the supernatural should not part of the discussion unless entertaining children.

Your statement is unfathomable. |
That's an interesting and deliberate skew of my statement. You must be a Theist.
