This is pure BS. Peter King, please take your vote, your media credentials, shine them up real nice, turn them sideways, and ....(anyone care to finish?).
I'm still upset that not a single Hog has gotten in yet...and what about Gary Clark. Hell even Dave Butz, while we're at it Dexter Manley
It wouldn't be so offensive if they were consistent with the voting. Saying Harry Carson is an HOFer brings a whole long list of possible Redskins into play. What about Joe Theismann, Mark Moseley, and Len Hauss. I have always assumed that Darell Green would be first ballot but I am starting to wonder. I can hear Peter King now: "You can't really put Green in the same class with Lester Hayes because he relied so much on his speed. He only played in seven Pro Bowls. And to top it all off he only had 52 interceptions in his career. That's fewer than three a year."
Heres my opinion:
Aikman
Carson
Madden
White
Monk
That would have been my choice, It seems like as long as Peter King has a say Art Monk doesn't have a chance. The only upside is Michael Irvin Didn't get in.

Re: 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

As someone noted earlier the best way to make a statement is to hit people in their pocketbooks. So, I think every single Skins fan should drop their SI subscription and boycott their website. The same with ESPN magazine and the ESPN website. (Boycotting ESPN on cable might be too hard, even for most diehards, but if you can - do it.) And we should tell every Skins fan we know and all of our friends and family to do the same.

The other thing I think is that we should flood the voter's mailboxes - not with rants or foul-mouthed insults - but with facts. Could someone post e-mail addresses for King, Pastabelly, noDr. Z and the other voters (especially those who might be open to the truth but are being swayed by the aforementioned gentlemen)? And compile a well-documented case for Monk and Grimm - and some of the others who should be there, like Butz? Then, we could all e-mail the voters the facts of the case - and keep doing it.

What do people think?

Re: 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

I rarely quote any person who ever played for Dallas, but I will cite Emmitt Smith in this instance who after hearing that Micheal Irving would not be selected immediately attacked the HOF committee. Smith basically said that he thinks the HOF committee's method of secrecy in voting is an example of men who are not really men. He said why do they hide behind their votes

"They ( sportswriters) come up to you laughing and smiling in your face, while stabbing you in the back by voting against you. Wow. This is coming from a Cowboy whose team had two inductees. Where are the former Redskins players who played with Art Monk at this time? Why aren't they speaking out on his behalf like some Giants did for Harry Carson? The only way Art Monk is accepted is if enough people criticize the sportwriters who have publicly rejected Monk and keep the pressure on.

I agree with TAFKAS--it's just crazy that not one member of the Hogs (except Riggins) is in. And only Riggins and Gibbs from the SB years. WTF?

Re: 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

you know what would be awesome? if art monk became our wide receivers coach. Not only would it help us, but it would probably help his cause to get into the hof. I think the reason he hasn't gotten in yet was because of the way he acted. He was kind, never tried to take the spotlight, just let his play do the talking, and now that he's retired people don't get the word about him. If he took up a coaching position in the NFL it would help him get more recognition.

Absolutey, Dave Butz and Clark should get consideration. Especially if Harry Carson and Rayfield Wright make it in.

Such a disappointment. The NFL now stands for National Fantasy League.

Art Monk is clearly, clearly one of the most prolific wide receievers of our day. He has the stats, the rings, and the longevity of career to prove it.
Not only that, but he commanded the unwavering respect of his peers and coaches during his career.

This is such a huge mockery on the HOF itself. Not because I'm a Redskin fan, but because I'm a football fan as well. I couldn't imagine Walter Payton not being inducted. I couldn't imagine Roger Staubach or Joe Montana not being inducted. And while I'm drawing comparisons using apples and oranges, Art's impact on our championships was vital. To me, now and for some time, the HOF has dimishished it's value. I went there once when I was a kid....to me it was almost akin to a pilgrimage of sorts. You went to see history in a capsule. To feel the aura of greatest in one building. To gather amongst people from all over the country to share that common bond. It's something you can't read about or hear about, you just have to go. It's not the same as attending a Super Bowl game or anything like that, but it is special, very special.

If Art Monk get's in next year or the year after, we'll be happy nonetheless. But in some sort of way, I feel his place in the Hall has been gather dust for a while now and it's time they give him his due.

Dexter Manley is the only one I'd have to disagree with. Of course, isn't LT in the HoF? Not that I dont' think DM had the skills....

speaking of the hall of fame....what Redskins are in the hall presently?

Man, that's a long list of Skins in the Hall.

I think we have the second most in the Hall.

Go to Redskins.com and they'll give you the names.

harry carson, aikman, and reggie white truly deserve it.i think ere should be a seperate election for the media guys in the hall though.madden was a hell of a coach, and he should have been inducted for that, not was he's done after he's retired.rayfield wright was one hell of a player, but art monk and even 8 ball irvin deserved to get in before him though!!!
