Gale Sayers statistics - pro-football-reference.com

7 years, but only 5 were productive.
I understand he was one of the most fluid rbs, but how did he get in with those stats? sympathy? atleast with lynn swann he had 4 rings to light his way into the HOF despite having high level stats.

When his peers talk about his career just about every single one of them says he was the best player they ever saw. He must have made a serious impression to get in with a limited body of work.

One of the problems that we have is that there aren't many highlights of Sayers.

It doesn't bother me that Swann made it in. It bothers me that Stallworth got in. There is no way that Stallworth should be in over Monk. What's next? Alvin Harper? The Steel Curtain era is overated in my book. Hell, if the refs had enough security at the stadium, the imaculate reception would have been overuled and there goes a ring.

Refering to the Imaculate Recpetion.....
I doubt you were there to see it live and I have never seen video evidence that would suggest he didn't actually catch it before it hit the ground. Why then would you suggest that he didn't catch it?
