Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
With an 0-5 team we should have scored on every possesion, that didn't happen. Then the D got tired/lazy/stupid....
Not sure which came first and I don't really care. |
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I have always supported Brunell when people were calling for his head but I'm not going to anymore. He has a dud for an arm. Moss's reaction to his passes tells me all I need. We can't win with that guy at the helm. Certainly not when we are 2-4 with the Colts looming. I say bench the fool and let see what JC can do.
Yes, much of this is on the defense. But consider this: When the score was tied 22-22 and the Titans needed a score, ROOKIE Vince Young led his team to the FG. Mark Brunell led his team nowhere, twice. That's a major indictment on Brunell's ability to win game for us. Brunell now is 2-4 as a starter this year.
Brunell certainly is not innocent, I just think it's funny we have a bench Brunell thread that's seeing about 6 times as much action as the defense bashing thread. That's very telling where our mindsets as fans are. Brunell is the bad guy even though the D just went belly up for Travis Henry and a rookie QB. |
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
If you're the D and you know Brunell is coming out after you did your bit how happy are you?

As you know, the QB gets too much credit for good and too much blame for bad. It's just that Brunell's best and last chance to take us to the Super Bowl was last year. He did a very good job until late in the season. It's time to find our QB of the future. I hope he's aleady on our team. |
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I don't think benching is the answer, not saying Brunell made some dumbshit throws. The coaches need to sit the team down and ask what the hell are we in this for? I mean c'mon, the Titans? I have never wanted to kick the shit out of somebodymore then I did today to Brunell and Jeff Fischer. I wanted to knock that greasy ass mustache off his face. Redskins are in Deep shit right now, one more loss, and time to look into the future. We should start Cambell in the first half, and see what happens, I mean c'mon , lets be real, WE ARE NOT GOING TO BEAT INDY NEXT WEEK!!!!

"We get a rest for three downs, guys, then it's back in"
No shit. They didnt play well, but they did their job in the 4th quarter. Our offense did not. |

I think the point is that Brunell basically gives our team no chance to win (I'm sure someone else has said this but I'm not reading back). All he can do is manage a very simple offense that is somewhat disguised by a lot of fancy shifts and the occasional reverse. The dink and dunk shit has got to go and if he's too afraid to attempt a deep throw more than once or twice a game he needs to hang them up. That being said, the defense has probably been a bigger dissapointment this year than MB, but it's not like we can just overall the entire unit and start different players. |
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
I honestly don't think it would matter who is playing QB at this point, not when the D is playing this poorly.
|
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
It is definately overdue for Brunell to sit down and play backup. QB spot is one the weakest parts of this team right now.

I do agree that the defense's play has been the biggest surprise and disappointment of the season so far. I wonder what happened. |

I don't think that if you happen to play Campbell you'll all of a sudden start winning ball games. I say this season is not salvagable with a guy like Mark Brunell at QB. It's time to put the kid in and let him learn how to play in this league. I know, however, that they'll rediscover the deep ball if Campbell comes in. He'll attempt to stretch the field. I don't buy that guys aren't open, I do buy that they're not seeing the ball come their way. Brunell plays not to lose. It's disgusting. On a similar note, I swear that if Campbell comes in and throws a few picks and then we hear "we gotta protect the ball" I'm gonna wanna kill him. Protecting the ball isn't working. Going 3 and out and then punting isn't any better than throwing a 30+ yard interception. At least you don't like you're too chickenshit to the throw the ball down the damn field. I think if we had someone who made defenses back off Clinton would have had an easy 100 yard game today, but what the hell did they have to fear? One deep ball the whole game? Are you kidding me? |
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
What's with the all the short passes. Either Brunell can't make the downfield throw, can't read the defense or the coaching staff doens't have the confidence in him making a downfield throw. The defenses know about the short throws so they stick everyone up on the line and we get stuffed. If Brunell can't make the throws time to see if JC can.
How many completions over 25 yards do he make, don't include YAC? |
Re: Can We Bench Brunell Now
Part of the blame goes to Brunell, but most of the blame should go to the defense. Brunell by no means had a perfect game today, and he made a few mistakes that ended our chances, but he was put in that situation because of our defense. You have to find the source of the problem, not the latest person to become part of the problem.
