Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
Once Again Our Offense Is Set 4th Best Run Offense Without Portis For 8 Games!!!!!!! We Need Defensive We Know That But A Secret Need That No One Is Mentioning We Need A Kick Returner Not A Punt Returner Cause Randle El Is Good But He Doesnt Do Kicks Look At What Devin Hester And Justin Miller Did For Their Teams In Terms Of Average Starting Position We Need A True Kickoff Returner

Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
we have a true kick off returner, and he's good enough. upgrading the kick returner isn't going to make a huge difference in wins and losses.

I take it you weren't watching week 2 in Dallas when Rock returned the kick for a touchdown. We're fine at both returner positions. |
Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
i saw that yes but what did he do for us after that nothing
|
Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
Rock is a good kick returner. He was 17th in the NFL in terms of his average on kick returns. That means he was middle of the pack. There are a lot of concerns about this team, but kick returner is not one of them. He was one of six players in the NFL to return a kick for a touchdown last season. Considering we had no idea that he was serviceable as a kick returner before this season I'd say that's pretty good.

Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
i am saying after we get everything else a nice solid kickoff returner wouldn hurt us especially when jason campbell is in the develpomental stage

It would be nice to happen upon the next Devin Hester or Desmond Howard but there are not enough positions on a team to sign a guy just to specialize in that. The best we can hope for is that we bring in a speedster as a late round pick at DB, WR, or RB who has the speed, vision, and toughness to be that guy. Then, we can have the best of both worlds as we develop a guy at a position while he earns his pay on special teams. |
Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
there is one ted ginn but the skins are gonna draft him eddie drummond is suppose to be a free agent he will not command a hig salary but dont see that happening so we will have rock again next year
|
Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
Ginn out of ohio state is a phenom on kick returns to bad we can't swing a deal for him, but I thought that was partly why we signed Randll'el? Did we miss the boat again? And here we are disgussing a need that was supposed to be addressed last off season.

Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
no we got the punt return aspect down but he doesnt return kicks
|
Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
Hey, here's an idea:
The Skins have two really good RBs so they might deal from strength there. The Skins desperately need help on defense - and particularly in the defensive backfield where it would be nice to have someone who could actually cover an NFL caliber receiver who didn't to happen to have a broken leg on game day. So here's a trade the Skins should think about: How about Portis to Denver for Champ Bailey? Maybe we could get the Broncos to toss in a draft pick too... Just a thought. |

Don't be so sure, if Gibbs was fired and then hired in denver it would be a done deal. |
Re: Clayton on the Redskins' offseason plans
who in their right mind would fire a 3 time super bowl champion and hall of fame coach
I did not make my point as clearly as I should have. I apologize. What is your backup runningback's play last year going to do to fill your defensive holes for next year?
Here is a newsflash, chief, Clinton Portis is the feature back next year. If you told a coach that they would have Clinton Portis and Anna Nicole Smith as a backup, they would feel pretty good about their runningback situation. If Portis stays healthy, Betts may get to touch the ball six times a game. Is that the best use of a guy who can carry the load? Is a second or third round pick more valuable to you when you have 7 guys getting surgery and you have holes at every level on defense? I would say so.
I don't agree with you. Betts is far too important to trade away. We need to keep our offensive AS IS!!!!! 100% besides Brunell and Patten and which ever other bench warmers need to go. Our main O is all good. Campbell will be MUCH better. I do agree that our Defense needs MAJOR work on the front 7. Draft a stud at # 6 and sign a key CB free agent like Nate or Samuels. Anybody think Walt Harris was any good?????? PRO BOWL THINKS SO. |
