Re: A. Thomas vs. L. Fletcher
If it was all about knowing the system, we'd be plowing along racking up Lombardi trophies with Wuerffel, Reidel Anthony and Jacquez Green
Of course they have to be quality players above anything. My point about the benefit of Fletcher knowing the system is there is a built in comfort level there with him and Williams. I don't think things like that can be underestimated. I think it also shows that Gibbs and co. are trying to make smarter decisions regarding personnel this year. They'd rather go after guys they are very comfortable with rather than taking a chance on a guy fitting in a la Archuletta/Lloyd. |
Re: A. Thomas vs. L. Fletcher
That's right. Here's a project: buy a company and set yourself a goal like "Be the #1 company out of 32 companies like this one in less than a year." Now, go out and hire 4 or 5 key guys to help you achieve this goal. Where are you first going to look? Monster? Help Wanted? Probably not. You'll make a list of people you know that you feel comfortable with and have positive experience working with....at least that's what I would do.

Re: A. Thomas vs. L. Fletcher
thomas has never played in a 4-3, and i have a feeling he wouldnt be nearly as good here as he was in baltimore. id go with fletcher any day

Agreed. Adalius Thomas IS a MONSTER but, like you said, no 4-3 experience. Fletcher, small downgrade in production but MAJOR jump in experience and field readiness. I'd take Fletcher. |

Actually he's good in a 4-3 as well. Rex Ryan went back to it when he took over for Nolan. |

Yup, Thomas has played in a 4-3, 3-4, and the "46" defense. He'll be a good pickup for the 49ers. |

Re: A. Thomas vs. L. Fletcher
thomas is way better bottom line in every aspect...sign him then draft landry and put thomas in a three pt stance on third downs and bring in rocky mcintosh......thats f-ing money huh?
Armstead had a couple of solid seasons for us, not sure why people want to keep lumping him in with the likes of Wuerffel, etc.
Yeah, Jesse Armstead was a monster in a few games. He was pretty consistent overall. I loved Armstead while he was here. He basically won the game against ATL, don't remember which year it was, but he was huge in that one. |

and that will cost us a bunch of f***ing money too |

I don't think clements is worth the money he will command

How about this one;
DE Carter DT Griffin/ Golston DT K.Jenkins/ Salevaii (can't Spell) DE: G.Adams/ Daniels OLB Rocky/ Marshall MLB Fletcher OLB Washington CB Springs /Rogers/ Smoot CB Bly/ Springs NB Rogers/ Smoot / Springs FS S.Taylor SS A.A./ Springs/ Priolou (can't Spell) Rotation at positions with multiple names |
i would rather have this
de: Carter dt: Griffin dt: golston (or some fat slob we pick up for the league min.) de: adams lb: washington lb: fletcher lb: mcintosh (or marshall) cb: clements cb: rogers nb: smoot (if we could pull this off it would be great) or springs if we dont cut him which i think we will tomorrow fs: taylor ss: archuleta (give him one more chance)
What about Pray-Low? I'd rather give him one more chance. And I think Golston would definitely be the starter over "some fat slob we pick up for the league minimum" |
