Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall
With McIntosh going into his second year(and giving up draft picks to get him) and Marshall sliding over to WIL, who is gonna be the Weak side starter? Opinions?
Just to clarify a few things. The "Mike" LB is the middle LB - Fletcher. The "SAM" LB is the strong side LB - MArcus Washington. The "WIL" LB is the weakside LB. So, if Marshall slides over then he will automatically take that spot over. That is the spot that he and Rocky are battling for. Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall
I think they will probably spread it around, but if anyone I would say Rocky considering he's the newest one, but I was pretty impressed with him this past season, I thought he played real well.

Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall
If you look at "performance on the field" and not a lot of gibberish from draft geeks and Combine Crazies, Marshall has shown that he is better than average as an outside linebacker. He cannotplay middle linebacker in a 4-3 defense without at least one monster in front of him to keep blockers off him - which is what he had to try to do last season - but he has shown that he's more than adequate as an OLB.
So far, Rocky has shown on the field that he can forget when he's supposed to be in the lineup and that he can bite on play-fakes really badly. Oh, he can also run around like a madman and jump on a tackling pile as the fifth man in. Based on demonstrated performance, Marshall is so superior as an OLB, it isn't even worth discussing. But just like the backup QB in most towns is the most popular guy around, Rocky seems to enjoy the same reputation here. He MIGHT be really good; it is also possible that you've seen already the best he has to offer. And what you've seen so far ON THE FIELD is that he's way below adequate as a full-time linebacker at the NFL level. :stop: |
Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall
I'm a huge Lamar Marshall fan, and after the way he played for us in 2004 and 2005, I hope that he has every chance to be our starting quarterback, no matter what Rocky was drafted at. I think Marshall was our most consistint linebacker in 2005, and had the line played better last year, he could have put up similar numbers. Being out of position hurt him though, and I honestly expect him to be our opening day starter.
I also hope we do alot of subbing in and out and get Rocky on the feild in many different ways as long as he's good enough. He started to show some flashes towards the end of last year, and as long as he continues progress, I hope to see him in pass rushing situations. SportsC, you also have to remember that Rocky was a rookie last year, and while yes its true that we could have seen his best already, its also true that in 3 years, he could be the leagues best linebacker. He was still young, and raw so I dont think you can really pass much judgment yet. If I had to pick/predict an opening day starter though, it'd be Lamar. |

Re: McIntosh Vs. Marshall
The idea of McIntosh playing behind Carter probably doesn't strike fear into opposing rushing offenses either. Marshall is bigger. Hmmm...
Actually they are both the same height and Rocky weighs a few pounds more. |

I assume that you want Marshall to be the Skins' starting OLB and not the starting quarterback next year. If Marshall has to play QB for 16 games, the Skins might be fortunate to be 2-14... Just saying... |
