Re: So what you're telling me is...
JLC has posted several times lately that the Skins are worried about MW's hip and Rocky's knee a lot.
Okay, so that's where all the hype has been coming from. I guess we'll never know until the season starts. |
Re: So what you're telling me is...
Is it just me, or does everyone (both the 16-0 and the 0-16 crowds) seem a little testy?
Our front office is on Defcon 5 to find some replacement LB's to cover for the fact that Marcus Washington and Rocky McIntosh are too fragile to be relied on.
The least they can do is not make it so obvious for other teams to know our weakness. Now I'm really concerned with our starting LB's. I didn't know the M. Washington injury was so severe. By the way, what year is our pass rush going to be addressed. Because our pass rush was a detriment during our playoff run in 2005, now 2007 and we still have only made one transaction for positive in that department(A. Carter). Finding a long term solution for DE is paramount.
How do you figure that in 2005 that our pass rush was a detriment as we were ranked 10th in sacks, 9th best D, and ranked in the top 10 of most all D stats. Maybe you have our D line and our O mixed up. NFL.com - NFL Stats |

Re: So what you're telling me is...
Run the ball, and stop the run. Those are the Redskin priorities. Therefore, it is no surprise that they put emphasis on running back and linebacker.
Remember, when Portis was hurt in the preseason, the Skins went into enough of a panic as to completely flush their 3rd round pick. |
Re: So what you're telling me is...
I just wanted to post this to continue my little argument with jsarno and skinfan_nn from yesterday regarding LB and our supposed great depth. I clipped this from today's Washington Post article:
"This coaching staff has been aiming to cultivate quality young backups at linebacker for three years, but the Redskins failed with several late-round picks. They only had five NFL-level linebackers entering the draft, and there are concerns about the status of two key linebackers, Marcus Washington (hip) and 2006 second-round pick Rocky McIntosh (knee), both of whom will be monitored closely." "We were short on numbers at linebacker, and that's one of the things we had highlighted," Coach Joe Gibbs said. "We were kind of holding our breath there [in the sixth round], because there were a couple of linebackers we thought could make the team." Obviously the LB position, both for starters and reserves, is an area of concern. We only had 5 heading into the draft (3 of whom are 30+, 2 coming off injury), and now we have two more guy Gibbs "thinks can make the team." Makes me nervous... |

But we do have decent depth now, and our LB's are better for it. |
