Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
I agree,I have a friend in Denver that said that was one of the reasons they shipped Portis out of there,he wouldnt play with any pain, they thought he was a puss.I'm not saying he is,but thats how he's looked at in Denver
this is getting out of hand, people are calling portis a puss now!!!!!!! get the fuck out of here, seriously.....LT he is fucking pussy too? Emmitt Smith was a pussy, so was Barry Sanders and every other great running back!!!! they all sat out pre season, CLINTON PORTIS IS THE FARTHEST THING FROM A PUSSY!!!!!!!!! if you want proof of that watch how he runs first of all, the guy runs as hard as anyone. second of all watch how he blocks, and if you can name a better back in the league at picking up blitzes or throwing down field blocks, then you havent watched him play since he has been in DC, quit talking shit about this guy!!! hes not hurt and he is 100000000% not a god damn pussy...get with it folks |
Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
Preseason is moronic, yeah play a couple scrimmages like in HS but not full blown games. NFL greed has cost many a players' careers.

Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
No, I'm just a little more than twelve dude, and I've probably been around a hell of a lot longer than you have. I've had the pleasure of witnessing all of Joe Gibbs acomplishments since he became involved in the HFL (not just the Redskins). Before you arive at unwarrented conclusions, my reference to Gibbs's weakness was more about his willingness to over protect his players, not about any disrespect for his ability. Stop kissing those three trophies he stands in front of and get with the here and now. That which is past and gone is just that, past. There's maybe a clue or two you could learn from.
Hey, I'm not trying to start a fight or anything...but suggesting Gibbs is favoring players over a team is not accurate. You have your opinion and I have mine...Yes, I love those 3 trophies and you likely do too. I bet you were as excited as me when he came back too. Yes, he hangs on players a long time but so do a lot of high quality coaches. This team is in desperate need of long term commitment, and thats what he offers...the problem is everyone wants him to yank players the second they have a bad game...Brunell...sure, I think he waited too long last year, but Campbell wouldn't have given the team a chance for a playoff run if he started a little earlier. Remember, it was Brunell that led the team to our first playoff run in years when odds were stacked against him. That should count for something (and it did) I think Gibbs is a man of character and would not put a players interest before the team. That is where we differ I believe. |
Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
I honestly bet he'll start practicing next week, I honestly dont think he's hurt at all...I really dont even care if he's faking it, I dont want anyone hurt at this point. He's very unlikley to play in any preseason games, so I wouldnt be shocked if he magically is healed somtime in the next week.

Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
I really wouldn't be surprised if Gibbs and Portis came to some sort of understanding. I don't doubt that his knee acted up a bit, but I think Portis took full advantage of that and has used that as an excuse to skip out on the preseason, and this way Gibbs doesn't lose face by showing preferential treatment to Portis.

Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
I personally think it's a good thing that Clinton Portis is sitting out preseason. If his knee really is acting up this will give us 4 more weeks in the regular season maybe. I think his knee is fine and I think we will see the Clinton we are used to seeing.

Re: Is Clinton Really Hurting?
I think he probably does have some tendonitis. The injury came about in mini-camps. I don't think they were premeditating an excuse to sit out the entire preseason. Plus he made a trip to Dr. Andrews a few weeks ago. I do believe Portis has milked it like crazy, but after what happened in the preseason last year, I could care less. As long as he's back there on the opening drive in week 1.
