Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
Rock career YPC: 4.4
Betts career YPC: 4.2 Rock career TD/Carry: .041 Betts career TD/Carry: .015 Rock is the better ballcarrier of the two. Though Betts is more of a threat out of the backfield in the passing game, Rock is the better KR guy of the two. That's why he deserved the deal Betts got.
I know you're big on stats, but your stats for Rock aren't meaningful. The only meaningful year in Rock's stats is 2003, when he was part of the gameplan. Everything else is, statistically, an aberration and, therefore, meaningless. Looking at 2003, his YPC is 3.8 and TD/Carry is .009. Obviously Betts is the better carrier, even if you factor out the games he was the starter (for the same reason). |
Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
Yeah I don't forsee Rock coming back here. While he was one of the best returners last year, we can't justify keeping him for high dollar value. I would hate to see him go, but that is football today.

Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
I'd feel good if he left and got a legitimate chance to compete.

Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
He should go elsewhere, he doesnt get much opportunity here though he has great potential.

Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
I wish Rock Cartwright the best. Hopefully he will get his opportunity to show what kind of running back he is, but it won't happen in Washington, the backfield is too crowded. I liked Rock from the first time I heard of his name. I remember him playing at Kansas State and loved his hit the hole and wedge at full speed running style. He may be a little unappreciated and hopefully the Redskins will find a returner that is as effective.

Rock's rushing numbers haven't been meaningful in the Gibbs era. They've just been more consistent than Betts' numbers. Betts performed well in 2006, but that was a total abberation from what he did the rest of his career. |
Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
I think it may be a little unfair to compre the two statistically when Rock's sample isn't very big at all. I think most real football minds would say Betts is a better RB than Rock.
I think most football minds would take Rock to carry the ball over Betts, but I don't know how Rock would grade out in pass blocking or pass receiving compared to Betts.
Betts is obviously the better pass receiver, and I can't really compare their pass blocking skills. It's just in the most important facet of a RB's job, Rock has done better--historically in a small sample, than Betts has done--historically in a large sample. |
Re: Rock Cartwright returning?
Man this is crazy every year I pictured Rocky getting cut, more so to prepare myself as I've been a fan of his since he was drafted, but now its to the point where he might cut us and get a decent sized contract. Ironic.
