Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
I think it's going to be a while before we see another Redskin go in. I honestly don't see any sure things out there on the immediate horizon.

Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
im with you. but if Portis can stay healthy, which is a huge if, he could have a shot
|
Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
If Portis' career ended now, no way he gets in to the Hall of Fame. At that point, I think we're basing his entry into the Hall on some sort of unforseen event -- like a Super Bowl win, and I don't even think that would be enough to get him in.

Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
Too early to say. If Cooley's career ended right now there's no way he gets in. Ditto for Samuels.
As far as current Redskins, or those of the last 10 years or so, since there haven't been any championships, I'd say you'd have to be absolute dynamite to get in the Hall. As far as I can tell, we haven't had those players.
I think once the likes of T. Gonzalez, Alge Crumpler, and Antonio Gates retire, Cooley will and should be able to overcome guys like Witten, Shockey, and Heap in stats. I think a Superbowl would really help Cooley's chance of becoming a HOF'er. |

Maybe Casey Husband is a member of the warpath?

Who's Next For the Hall of Fame?
He calls me alot and asks what he should write about. He's like what up MK and I'm like nuthin C-Huz. Then I'm like c'mon dude I don't have time for this crap, just read the damn forums and pick a topic, they're all great. He's so silly. |
Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
I saw someone mention Brian Mitchell and that's actually a solid pick to me, not sure that the Hall voters will ever see it that way though. They've got a serious grudge against kickers and specialists.

Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
Gary Clark.
He has more receptions, yardage, and touchdowns than Lynn Swann and John Stallworth who were both recently voted in. Not only that, Peter King, the man who for years denied the vote for Art Monk until he came to his senses, always said that as a beat reporter for the NY Giants, their biggest concern was Gary Clark. Clark also has more receptions than Hall of Famers Don Maynard, Raymond Berry, and Fred Biletnikoff. And has more yardage than Lance Alworth, Paul Warfield, and Raymond Berry. Gary Clark deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
He probably deserves consideration. Funny how his name isn't at least mentioned more often. It's going to be awfully tough for him though. |
Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
Aside from Russ Grimm I do not forsee another Redskin HOFer for quite some time. Maybe Chris Samuels. Clinton Portis might make it if he can have 2 more outstanding seasons (like he had in Denver) complimented with a few more decent seasons, and at least 1 SB ring.

Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
I don't think Samuels has any chance. His entire career he's always been outshined by at least one other tackle within the NFC each season. Samuels has never started the Pro Bowl. Between Seattle's Walter Jones and St. Louis's Orlando Pace, it's hard to say Samuels has ever been the best LT in the conference at any time.
Jonathan Ogden, Jones, and Pace all deserve it before Samuels does. I can't see it happening for him - they just don't vote that many linemen in.
No chance? Can't say I agree with that. A few more Pro Bowl's and he's pushing double digit appearances, that's impressive. I'm not saying he's a lock but I would imagine he will garner some consideration at some point down the road if his career keeps progressing the way it is. A SB win would definitely go a long way for him obviously. |
Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
What do you think Jason Taylor has to do to be considered a Redskins?
Say he stays here for 3-4 more years and wins a Super Bowl with us.. would that be enough to consider him a Redskins if/when he goes in to the hall, or will he always be a Dolphin? |
Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
I agree it's not gonna be anytime soon for the next skin. Grimm was at the top of his position for a long time & deserves at least serious consideration. Good career after playing too.
Portis really is on his way if he can continue to be a healthy every down guy for a few more years. He has the #s so far, the respect & star quality. Like others have said, if he gets a super bowl ring that could go far in voters minds. one dude that probably won't get mentioned much but was an all around beast is Wilbur Marshall. He had tremendous years in Chi. & DC. In the 91-92, and 92-3 seasons he was as good as any LB in the game. If he'd been able to end his career on a strong note in DC I think he'd get some attention. |
Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
Chris Sameuls or Clinton Portis are the next Skins HOF favs on my list. Portis just needs to keep it moving for a couple more years and sustain steady numbers, staying healthy ofcourse. Like others said, I don't see any of the Hogs getting in anytime soon which is pretty absurb.

Re: Who is the next Redskin to go to the HOF?
Russ Grimm will be next. After that, I'm not sure. Jason Taylor, obviously, but he will most likely go in as a Dolphin. Of course, if we win a Super Bowl while Taylor is with us, he could go in as a Redskin.
