Re: When will Jansen go?
you either believe in Zorn or you don't. Do you, or don't you?
Don't oversimplify the argument. We can believe in Zorn as a coach, but disagree with certain decisions he makes. At least I HOPE we can, because otherwise, the first time he f's up, there's going to be 1,000,000 Fire Zorn threads.

While that is true, you still need to have faith that Zorn is going to put the best players on the field. It really is THAT simple. |

I don't expect him to be perfect in that regard, as none of us would be. |
Re: When will Jansen go?
I will say that Jansen is still a strong run blocker in this league. He's still capable of getting low and driving a guy just enough to open up a hole. But his pass protection skills appear to be completely gone.
That said, Heyer is definitely not an upgrade in pass protection, as others said he received way too much TE and RB help to be considered a reliable pass protector. He and Jansen are about equal in pass protection at this stage - we're going to have to give either one of them a fair amount of help. But Jansen can still run block, so we stick with him. If he still sucks this year and can't regain his form, it will definitely be time to draft some help at RT.
A strong argument to keep JJ as the starter, but IMO it also highlights how weak we are evidently at this position when a guy who's a huge liability is still better than the alternatives. I don't know if this situation should be chalked up to poor judgment among the decision-makers or maybe a lack of legitimate starters in the draft/free-agency. Either way it's def hard to swallow for me as a fan. |
Re: When will Jansen go?
I still play him, randy, and samuels and rabach have been playing not to get hurt before the big game. Jansen gets beat sure, but so does samuels so does every tackle in this league, Lets out this thread to rest until the first game when he gets injured again! The we can bitch!

Re: When will Jansen go?
If anyone thinks that Jansen is not one of the two best offensive tackles on the roster at the moment, then that person has disqualified himself/herself as an aspiring NFL scout.
If Jansen is hurt and cannot play for much/most of the season, the Redskins will be far less effective on offense. Jansen's injuries have made him less of a player than he was three years ago - - but that is true of just about every player in the NFL. Please recall last year when various substitute RTs needed to have help from tight ends and/or fullbacks on pass protection about 90% of the time... |
Re: When will Jansen go?
I bet you by the end of the year Jansen will get the ax. He continues to get injured and he cannot keep up with edge rushers in the NFC anymore.

Re: When will Jansen go?
My bet is Jensen will be released during the non cap year...as will a few others...probably M. Washington (due to age), L. Fletcher (due to age), A. Randel-El (due to better, younger receivers), R Thomas (better, younger guard).
Not sure about Portis and Samuels. |

Why do you hope that? |
Re: When will Jansen go?
Wow you've listed like our best players. Why would we get rid of them when they still play soooo well?
|
Re: When will Jansen go?
dude im with you about the list of players, marcus, jansen..it will come a time when ther will be an uncapped year.
Long time redskins will depart some of us will shed tears. cerrato and snyder will be licking their chops waiting eagerly to look under their christmas tree and see what they can get! Little do they know...jerry jones and robert kraft will say.."no dan not yet" There will be manning and brady, and calvin johnson up for the take! There will be Chris Long, and aj hawk, and willis on dans plane with their agents seeing how much they can possibly make! The analysts will pick us to be number 1 for once! They will start to give us props! ALL of our players will dance with the stars, bill cowher and joe gibbs will want to call the shots. And when the cap falls, hopefully for all of us in dc. while we watch adrian peterson score his 50th rushing td when mike vick is our ball boy, while we are in the big Sb we can all sing hail to the redskins once again with glee. man i must be on drugs today or something |
Re: When will Jansen go?
definitely on drugs
|
Re: When will Jansen go?
More than a couple of the beck-up offensive linemen got time on the field against Jax.
I didn't see any flashes of greatness from them such that Jansen should be demoted or cut. What did I miss? |

Wouldn't an uncapped year mean that there's no CBA between the players and the owners? I don't want football to go the way of baseball. |
