Redskin Insider:
Posted at 3:40 PM ET, 09/12/2008 The Portis Interview: Director's Cut From Barry Svrluga So Clinton Portis obviously had some interesting things to say in the story we ran in this morning's paper. That wasn't all he said, though. He was in a very talkative mood. Here is some other free-flowing stuff from your favorite tailback, some Portis out-takes: How have you changed as a person and a back since you came to Washington?: "As a back, I've changed to basically doing what's asked of me," Portis said. "Coming in here, being used to daylight and big runs and high expectations, and feeling prepared to change the organization around and carry the organization, and all of a sudden it didn't work that way, for whatever reason, and all of a sudden you have to take that criticism. Of course you become blamed, but at the same time, I felt like I put in the work. It wasn't like I didn't show up for work. You look back over every game I've played in since I've been here, whether I had the yards or not, you can't sit here and tell me I didn't give you everything I had on the field. |
Re: I Want To See The Clinton Portis Of Old
Saw this on ComCast, where they quoted what CP said in the Post.. What does CP mean here . Does he mean he wants out, is he calling out his O-Line, is he bashing JC saying he needs to step up the passing game, is he trying to say that hes making yards and he earns all the yards he gets or saying he doesnt like the system or thats its not a good system. Or could he be saying that the Defense of the other teams know the passing game is not working so they put 8-10 on the line. NOT TRYING TO START THINGS JUST WANT TO SEE WHAT OTHERS GET FROM THIS AND HOW THEY READ CP'S STATEMENTS.
This is just 1 of the quotes they highlighted on comcast. "I wish I could go to a team for one week with the best offensive line, or the team with the best scheme, and switch places with their back and see how others would do in this system," Portis said, sitting on a couch the other day at Redskins Park. "I get a lot of touches with nowhere to run. I could see if I got all those touches and had some lanes, but there's nine or 10 men in the box. Re: I Want To See The Clinton Portis Of Old
It's just frustration on his part. He's been a battering ram for Skins. He doesn't see many open holes.
I don't think he wants to play elsewhere, he's just saying there's nothing wrong w/ CP it's our scheme/lack of execution. He's just frustrated w/ not having any running room. That's why i started this thread...i was frustrated w/ seeing a GREAT back...not seeing his full potential b/c of our (coaching/personnel/FO/scheme...pick one). I didn't think the article was a big deal b/c I could hear it was just frustration. Do you ever come home from work and just want to bitch for an hour? That's what that was. |
Re: I Want To See The Clinton Portis Of Old
He has been whinging and whining about something or other ever since he got here.
That's the way he is. I wish he would just STFU and do his job. |

Re: I Want To See The Clinton Portis Of Old
CP and LB are our best weapons on offense. We all know this phrase...running sets up the passing the ball. Establish a run and I bet you see it much easier to pass the ball. As for CP's production in denver vs his production here...I think denver has proved they can insert just about any rb into that lineup and they seem to produce. Another thing to keep in mind is this is not the AFC west.

He shows up on Sundays, nobody can deny that.
I would like to see him be more of a leader on the practice field Monday through Saturday. I think he's missing a golden opportunity there. |

Criticizing the O-line and Zorn's scheme two days before the game isn't cool. Granted, the O-line deserves some criticism, but let the coaches, fans, and media handle that. |

Thats asking a little to much (although I do agree).......Portis has never been one to keep his mouth shut. Hope he has a HUGE game tomorrow! |

What's worse though... outspoken players or outspoken fans? |
Re: I Want To See The Clinton Portis Of Old
Portis Is Not The Only Offensive Threat We Have. He Is Off To A Very Good Start This Year. Hell Of A Td Run Today. He Will Bust Long Runs This Year. When Portis Was In Denver They Probably Had The Best Run Blocking O-line In The Legaue. I Liostened To The Game On Sirius-campbell Seemed To Come Around In 2nd. Half. The Go Ahead Score Was A Hell Of A Throw. Looking Forward To Cards At Home Game 3.
