I'm just saying, what's up with all these good rookie wideouts that are contributing to their teams, and we have to get the two out of shape ones that miss camp and have caught one ball between the two of them. |
Re: The NFL Player That You Were Most Impressed With After Week 1
1 game and Thomas and Kelly are already busts.
See ya guys, we didn't even get to know ya. LOL |

Re: The NFL Player That You Were Most Impressed With After Week 1
Certainly Turner is there, but I expected him to perform well (although, not 220 yards 2 tds first game well).
Who impressed me (actually game is still going on) that I did not expect is Eddie Royal. He has 7 catches for 99 yards and a TD at the half. He looks really fast and shifty. He is running precise routes as well. He could be a VERY solid pickup in fantasy leagues. (those of you in the warpath leagues that I am in, don't bother, I already picked him up) :D Also, Matt Forte looked better than I thought he would. |
Re: The NFL Player That You Were Most Impressed With After Week 1
I'm not hatin' on Kelly or Thomas, I'm not expecting either to contribute right away and that was my mindset heading into the season.
But I tell ya, watching these other rookie receivers having these good days is making me realize not all rookie receivers struggle. DeSean Jackson had an excellent day for Philly and I think he will be an immediate contributor this season, and I was hesitant to praise Eddie Royal coming into the season because he wasn't that impressive to me at Virginia Tech, but damn the kid has looked good in his opening game. It's halftime and he's already 1 yard away from reaching the 100 yard plateau and the kid looks like he has a great rapport with Jay Cutler. |

Well, for what it's worth. Here's a look at how all the other WRs drafted in the first two rounds have done at this point in their careers. Limas Sweed-inactive Donnie Avery-inactive Jordy Nelson-goose eggs James Hardy-goose eggs Jerome Simpson-goose eggs |

Royal will work in the Denver system cause Marshall is the go to guy who has size. Royal and even Jackson would not be what we needed. Obviously the FO saw the same issues and took the bigger WR's. Smart move IMO. |

You just can't win with Redskins fans. :smashfrea |
Re: The NFL Player That You Were Most Impressed With After Week 1
Among rookies, I thought DeSean Jackson looked peerless among WRs yesterday, but Eddie Royal is sure giving him a run for his money tonight. Royal's QB, Jay Cutler, looks on the verge of a breakout this season. The guy has a laser arm, especially when he's on the move out of the pocket.

Royal should get less defensive attention when Marshall returns. I'm less concerned with size than I am with playmaking ability. That said, I hope our big WRs start making plays soon too.

What Ruhskins said. If my above post made it seem like I would prefer Royal or Jackson over Kelly and Thomas, then my mistake. I really do believe that Kelly and Thomas can become good contributors to this team, but it will just take time. Clearly they aren't Jackson or Royal, two guys who have come in and (so far) look like they will be contributing right out the gate. Time will tell if the moves we made are wrong, but because of the performance of those two rookie wideouts compared to our two rookie wideouts those impatient members of our fanbase have already made their knee-jerk reactions and that's why we see all these typical posts. If Thomas and Kelly do turn out to be good though, you can pretty much take it to the bank that those same fans will be singing the front offices' praise. |
Im going to go with Brett Farve. Only being with the team three weeks, he learned the offense and didnt make any critical mistakes. Its nice to see a QB pick up a new offense fairly quickly.:laughing-
I agree. He knows 75% of their playbook already for only being with the team three weeks. |
