Re: Potential Drug Dealer- Advice Needed

shoot first ask questions later.

I keed I keed. As an ex "drug dealer" myself, I'm not sure I'd freak out about it. If the guy was anything dangerous, he'd probably be more careful, and not be peddling small amounts of drugs in a neighborhood. If he's in his twenties, and someone's adult son, the guys probably got nothing else to do but cause problems for you and get high and think of ways to do it.

If you call the cops, they will probably harass him, and even if they do catch him peddling pot or whatever, its not like he's going to disappear.

If you have some balls, and are a fairly confident man, approach him and ask him what he's doing. Do some business of your own. Negotiate with him that if he takes his business off of your street and onto the next one you wont mess with him/call police/shoot him, whatever is best matched to your personality. Just mean what you say. OR offer him a small amount of money to take his business elsewhere. I would have respected that back in the day.

By the time most dealers start worrying about guns and stuff they're beyond street peddling.

:laughing2 Good one. Yeah it's kind of a strange time when it comes to the drug culture. Where I live law enforcement now legally considers the possession and sale of herb as the lowest priority issue...i think this was actually based on a vote and from what i understand the same thing is happening all over the country. My guess is within 10 years it's legal in several states...and those states will be awash in nice tax revenues. But it's always gonna be controversial.
^ I hear where you are coming from but last time I checked drugs don't usually attract the type of people you want hanging around where children play.

Though you did just make me think of something, maybe he is the buyer not the seller? Hmmm... Would you buy multiply times in a day and will drug dealers come to your house? I guess so.
You could trust me around your children.
Behind closed doors is one thing, but drug deals out in the open is something to be concerned about.
Good point. Never understood why people make deals in the open.
So if I decide to have 8 beers and drive home it is my preogative and no one should push their morals on me?
In this situation, your actions would directly endanger others. Using drugs can be safe.

Not sure how the states will get around the federal law making drugs illegal.

They can decriminalize it and make it legal to have. I forgot the name of the county, but its in North Cali and it is legal to grow and have weed.

I think you're referring to Humboldt County, but I don't think it's legal to grow it there...

I thought the Civil War decided the viability of nullification.

You thought wrong once again. Oklahoma just signed into law saying they reserve the right as a soverign state to nullify any federal law on guns manufactured in their state. They have de facto banned gun control in their state and reserved the right to regulate guns the way they see fit, end of story. Many states are nullifying federal laws they find intrusive.
Ok if everyone had that attuide then the drug dealers would run our neigborhoods. You can't live in fear and all I did was look at him. He lives with his mommy and daddy and sells pot on the side, this is not Scarface. I don't think he is going to cut me up in my bath tub with a chain saw.

Anyways I took an early lunch went to the police station told my story and they were about as excited as Julia Child would be to eat my home made tacos from the box. Basically he is small fry to the cops in my area becasue they have this place called Edgewood in their jursdiaction that is just littered with gangs and drugs. They took my info and alerted the patrol in my area. Oh well I tried. The cop told me to avoid him and would be highly surprised if he did anything becasue the last thing they want is attention. I mean there really is not much they can do at this point. What would be great is if they raided his house like in Point Break when I am cutting the grass but highly unlikley.
So the cops told you the same thing that I did, yet I'm wrong, I fail to see how that works.

I didn't say live in fear and you admitted that you have no reason to fear, your post is so circular I've become dizzy.

Is your neighborhood overrun with dealers? No.
What do your neighbors have to say about this? Call the police. Even if he's a low baller that doesn't mean he'll not turn on his guy. Cops love getting little fish that lead to the whopper. Why don't you just go out there an confront him, I would. Just make sure you're packing heat. Say, hey listen if your out here selling dope then you need to stop. I called the police and if they don't lock you up I'll take care of you. The cops can't be everywhere at once. They're more of a deterrent than anything. It's up to you to decide what's best for your family. Once he knows that eyes are watching then he'll stop being so open, if he's smart.
Yeah, make veiled threats. If you're going out there with a gun to scare him, tax him instead.

Re: Potential Drug Dealer- Advice Needed
mredskins, IMO he's probably selling dime bags. You said he's a grown man living with his folks, so chances are he isn't smart enough to have anything more organized going on than small time stuff. Drug deals made on the corner with 2 second hand shakes aren't exactly big time. But I understand your concern. I think his hands up in the air "what" motion pretty much tips it off. If he wasn't doing anything shady, he wouldn't give a shit who glances in his direction as they're driving by.

You already took a good first step by calling the police. You mentioned how tight knit your community is. I would use this to your advantage. Alert your neighbors. Maybe if the entire neighborhood starts giving this dude the eye he'll knock it off. Or at least take his business elsewhere.
this.. and ask if they've seen anything

do you know the kid's parents?

it's a shame even when we're neighbors we usually hardly know each other anymore
