take zorn and campbell and throw them away. the worst play calling in the league and the worst qb in the dam game.

Re: Offense = Disappointment

Ok, here is what I saw last night.

One: terrible play calling on the part of Jim Zorn. After a great play and run by Clinton Portis you call a gimmick play. ugg not this early Jim. Let these guys get in a groove before you call on the old ARE reverse pass. Then as the game progresses the Redskins offense becomes so predictable. Run Run Pass. Every time out. Come on Jim you are playing the Giants Deffense. These guys are good but you at least need to put your team in a position to win and be successful. You failed in doing anything close to that yesterday. The running game wasn't working but you continue to run to try and set up the pass. How many times on second and 8 or 9 are you going to run the ball again for the same result? Then try and pass on third down. Grade F for old Zorny and the game plan for yesterday.

Two: I thought the defense played reall well in only holding the Giants to 16 points. the guys came up big in the Redzone and on Third/Forth downs in the Redzone, but what about the rest of the field? Can Blache ever make an adjustment? Will we ever not play so damn far off the ball, Cbs and Safeties? Is this just how the scheme is and as fans we should just except it and never expect an adjstment to be made?

Three: I for one thought the oline gave Jason plenty of time to get the ball out of his hands. Jason still does not think quickly enough and has a hard time going through progressions in the matter of 3-4 seconds. This is the Giants, Jason, I know you are scared of them and I see that you will continue to be, until you realize when the pocket is collapsing you either need to step up in the pocket, throw the ball away, find a guy who is open, or take a sack. That Osi touchdown was your fault not the line, and was the difference in the ball game. Jason continues to look like a deer in headlights when he plays the Giants. We are not going to win the division or the superbowl with a guy who plays scared. One other thing, learn where the line of scrimmage is and don't throw past it. Ok?

This is not the end of the world and the Skins faired alot better than they did in last years opener, but to that end, we will not beat the Giants until we actually think we can. I saw an offense which was scared and inept. How can you win the division if you don't believe you can beat the head of the East?

And wtf is with Moss mentally checking himself out of the game after the fight with Webster? I mean damn, Moss was non-existant the ENTIRE game! He wasnt even drawing double teams but just couldnt get open. Very surprising. Its time for these young wideouts to step up.

I have a theory about moss. if the game is not going well offensively and hes not catching passes or being targeted he gets frustrated and stops trying. in the skins-cowboys game a few years ago (yeah the one where he catches 2 late tds for the win) there was audio of him pouting on the sideline to portis complaiing about how gibbs wasnt calling any of the plays we had practiced in preparation for the boys. portis gave him alil pep talk, brunnell hits moss twice we win.

i think moss and portis have not had faith in a skins HC in a long time. they see the same anemic passing game, no explosion and seemingly poor play calling year in year out. im frustrated with it so i can understand moss and portis' sentiment . . money and contract really is the only thing keeping them a skin. wish it was heart . . .

go skins!!

ps - offensive line looked good and JC is real accurate on those short check down under-neath routes teams will give us late in the game when they are up by 2 possessions.

good post up there artmonkhof'07 . . . almost my exact sentiments from yesterdays game but stated more clearly.

and this is the first game, we have time to improve, stay close and hopefully hit some kind of stride/winning streak at the right time . . .

Over The M.- we can still have a nice season and this is only one game, but to your above post about Moss and Portis. i have to agree with you. Where is the heart? Where is the will to win? Why are we always so excepting of poor effort and execution?

Clinton I love your game, but when are you going to do something other than running into a closed hole. Where is that bounce out ability you use to have? Man I just want a team who wants to win football games. The body language of the Redskin's players (specifically the offense) is pretty dishearting as a fan.

More sobering stats offensively:

-- Portis' 34-yard run was his longest since 2006

-- The offense hasn't scored 30 points in 19 straight games, a drought second only to the Detroit Lions

-- Seven consecutive regular season games without a touchdown in the 1st quarter (been outscored 51-0).

At least we don't have Cutler or THIS GUY:

Re: Offense = Disappointment

I will say this. People are down on JC. I think he didn't have a good game. But it wasn't like Cutler or Delhomme. Think about this. Last year Jason played good during the first half of the season. He didn't even throw a interception for a while. He needs to step up his play and be better in the pocket and move around and scramble a little more. At the halfway mark we looked good. What changed? 3 things IMO.

1. People figured out Zorn's play calling.
2. We had games against some of the top defenses in the league. Pittsburgh, BMore, etc.
3. Offensive line woes.

Not a good combination. I am not a JC apologist. He clearly needs to step his game up. But Zorn has to put his team in a position to win. Running a trick play after the portis run was at best idiotic.

Saying all this. JC needs to improve his awareness. Holding too long doesn't bother me as much as him being mobile. Its like he thinks just because he is a pocket QB he can't run. Games in which he runs. We do significantly better. If things break down. Gain some yards or throw it away if no one is open. I will agree his decision making needs to be quicker.

But we did lose to the 49ers & Bengals?????

Re: Offense = Disappointment

dudes, JC will never get it done this year...anybody else check when he checked to that stupid ass draw play on 3rd and 8? what a moron. great QB's make changes at the line on the fly, JC has never checked into the right play...ever. even Eli Manning with a mediocre corps of WR's can check in and out and make them look phenominal!

i think most everyone can agree that JC doesn't have that "it" factor that a McNabb or a Manning (eli or peyton) have.

let's face it, most players nowaday are dying to play in Washington...but it's only cause we pay our players out the butt, not b/c they want to play to win the game. Until we get a coach that can instill some discipline into these animals we will always be a laughing stock.

but i'll still watch and cheer and be frustrated. watch, we'll win the next few games and people will get high on us, but once we play somebody with a "will" to win, we get left in the dust.

I Think i am most sick of seeing our guys inability to get off the field on 3rd and long situations. it's almost like I expect the other team to gain twenty yards on a 3rd and long just because our defense gives up.

Say what you want about jake, but he was seconds away from a SB title.
Yes he has stunk it up in his last 2 games but the guy has been where we havent in a long time and with a team that was only like a decade old in the league at the time.
Im not saying i want him here, but 2 games doesnt take away from what he has done.IMO
I would rather try that crazy idea with Marko Mitchell over Devin Thomas.

Santana is still a fine player, but damn did he have a pitiful game today.
We wont know unless they get on the field. The Raiders had 2 rookies WR starting against the Chargers. Moss in the slot would be nice and bring DT and Kelly on the outside. ARE did make some plays. S. Moss got punked by Jason Webster and he covered him mostly 1on1. Webster was in his head and his jock when he ran a route. Moss also got his ass kicked when his helmet got knocked off. Nice from a veteran WR. way to go S. Moss and your United Way commerical. Way to be a role model.
When we get a coach that is worth a crap then some of these issues might, and I said might, be fixed. But not until then. Synder created this monster of a non not knowing how to coach coaching staff.
Who in the hell wants to coach a team that has a high coach turnover rating. You will not get a good veteran coach unless you going to over pay him to come here. Keep Zorn and give him 3 years to improve this team then talk about firing him.
Moss was terrible and I hope other pick up on this .

The Int - Sure it should never have been thrown because Campbell was well beyond the line, BUT Moss was no where on that play . And this is the point people want to Jump on Campbell but Moss turns up for about 30% of the games . He almost got himself ejected and that would have been nothing but a good thing given how badly he played .

Kelly and Thomas need to play better, the bright spot was ARE . Cooley was solid as always and even Davis had a possitive impact yesterday with solid blocking especially on the fack FG ...

Overall I give the team a C ... needs to improve ..
Good Observatons bro.
