Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
Zorn needs to switch things up this week, he needs to have Mitchell and Aldridge active and see what they can do. I would have Betts and Thomas no active for the game. His job is on the line, with the hiring of Sherman Lewis it is set up for Synder to fire Zorn and make Blache the interiem head coach and make lewis the playcaller.

A little locker room drama, not a huge deal.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
I had heard yesterday that Portis called up to the booth during the Tampa game and requested that Sellers be taken out because he wouldn't block for him. I didn't post it because at the time I couldn't find anything to verify it. Portis may have some points but as usual he handles things completely wrong. In the game where we gave the ball to Portis on 4th and goal, it looked to me like if he had went inside instead of out we would have scored. Doc Walker said the same thing. Is Portis passing the blame? I don't know, but in typical Portis fashion he appears to be creating controversy again. I have never seen a RB fall down with little or no contact as much as he does.
Portis is one of the best blocking backs I've ever seen and gives it his all during games. But as Sherman Smith said, his first few carries in a game are like practice because he doesn't practice during the week. He may not be a cancer, but he could certainly have done things better while he was here and been more of a team player instead of such a prima donna. I think the blocking schemes, as Sammy has pointed out, have been a problem. But if Portis can't stay on his feet, I'm not sure how much it matters. BTW- I LIKE that someone got in Portis's face. |
They also had to get rid of some folks too. Strahan, Shockey, Barber . . . At one point they were considered the heart and soul of NY. Sound familiar?
Strahan and barber retired as giants. |
Fletcher, Randy Thomas, Samuels, Rock, Randle El...all respected as leaders
The Raiders...now that's a team with no leaders
They sure do a good job at keeping their leadership in stealth mode. I think over the past few years the Raiders have been the worst organization but since week 2 the Skins have held that designation. This is an oorganization that is in complete disarray. Its sad. |
Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
I sorta like it. These guys need to start getting after each other and holding everyone accountable. I am tired of the talking about accountability and want some damn action. If Sellers f'ed it up then CP should say so. Maybe he should say it to his face but Mike is a big boy...he can handle it. Now Zorn just needs to manage this stuff and channel it forward and not into something cancerous. You know, be a head coach.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
these type of things if handled the right way can lead a team that lacks a bit of focus and intensity into getting it together. If handled the wrong way though things like this can spell disaster.
I personally like our leaders in the locker room so I think this could be a good thing. |
Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
beeotch move by Portis. If he has a problem with Sellers, tell Sellers first then go to the team.

Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
I LOVE Portis , he's as tough as you can get on the field and has led this team to the playoffs twice .. this team is at quite the crossroads .. we have had plenty of " biggest game of the year games " already this season but this week in Carolina may be the biggest, if this god damn team can somehow gel, somehow get that intentisty back, somehow play up to all the competition we can get the ball rolling .. sadly deep down I feel that the Z Man is sooooo far in over his head he won't be able to rally the troops .. i'm so depressed to be a Skin's fan ... we are deserving of so much more .. such loyal fans .. why can't these a@#holes fight together instead of against each other .. ugh is it Sunday yet ?

Perhaps. If it was the only drama CP's created, I might agree more. Since it isn't, it's quite possible this ends up being another instance in which CP has undermined the coaching staff. Hopefully it's not & they firmly told him not to make lineup suggestions during a game. |
That's what they used to say about the Giants with all the bickering they would have under Coughlin...look at them now
yeah the difference is they had strahan, tuck, osi, burress and an o-line. i don't see any of that on this team. |
Re: Sources Confirm Portis-Sellers Incident
cp should've just went to his face and told him to block someone. going to the coach makes him look like a bitch. but really who cares?
