Re: How to stop smoking?
I'm female and I used to be someone who would never, ever touch a smoker. But after briefly dating someone who smoked like a chimney and having quite a few friends who smoke regularly, I think I'm immune to it now.
It's a different experience dating a smoker, cause when you kiss them and hug them they taste like cigs and they smell like it and eh... It's something I had to get used to. But now I don't mind it as much. ...I'd still prefer to date a non-smoker though, since I don't smoke.
See SITM, there you go. |
Re: How to stop smoking?
She said she "preferred" she still dates smokers. Since I'm not a big smoker I guess its not that big of an issue to me and I'm exposed to it a lot at my job. I just think there is always more to a person than whether he's standing there holding a cig or not. He could be Mr. Right that could quit. :) I commend you for wanting to quit as long as it's for the right reasons. It's gotta be for you and for you only.

Re: How to stop smoking?
TTE, what worked for me was quitting smoking in every instance that I would want a cigarette one by one. I started by not smoking in my car. Months later I stopped smoking at work. Eventually, I stopped smoking after work when I was at home. The only thing that I haven't kicked yet is the urge to smoke when I drink. Honestly, I may have to quit drinking to quit smoking. Some people may say that I am still considered a smoker, but I am happy with what I have accomplished so far. I used to smoke a pack a day. Now a pack would last me a month if the damn things didn't get stale.
Baby steps, no physical aids, just cut back until you stop. Cold turkey just results in relapse. |
Re: How to stop smoking?
That's a good way to do it. Slowly. Where I work I see so many people that smoke when they drink.
|
Re: How to stop smoking?
I smoke when I drink, I am gonna stop. From all accounts, many people I know start becoming regular from that point onwards.

Re: How to stop smoking?
Drinking isn't a problem for me. When I did drink, I'd smoke a God-awful amount of cigarettes though.
I broke down and bummed two smokes last night from some friends. One was a Marlboro Red and it was horrible. I'm not giving up though. I haven't had any today. Another friend of mine quit too. He's going on three months. If he can do it, I can too. |

This summer we were out boozing and I bummed off this guy outside of a bar and he gave me a Newport. LOL man, it knocked my socks off. For a minute I thought I was gonna have to sit down on the sidewalk. |
Re: How to stop smoking?
A Newport! That's a buzz waiting to happen. You must've been tanked.

Re: How to stop smoking?
Newport is my brand.
