If you want to add another pro bowler on this squad, then you draft Okung. If you want to build a stronger team then you trade down and get more picks. It's as simple as that. I know a lot of us love the idea of drafting Okung. What can I say; the guy's a beast. But, what about the other parts of the Oline?

Seahawks could be an interesting trade partner. They have a top 10 pick (I think) and then another in the middle of the first round. Could convince them they need to move into the top 5 if they want a QB

The rumor right now, and keep in mind it's only January, is that the Lions are targeting Okung with the 2nd pick

I think "new and improved" FO personnel and coaches could smooth out the oline issues w/o as much trouble as we might expect otherwise. I mean it's possible the interior of the line could be set Dock, Rabach and a backup, and Rinehart/Mike Williams at RG. So basically we need to starting tackles. I trust no real football guy will let Heyer start another pro game (the same could be argued about Rabach probably). So drafting Okung wouldn't necessarily mean the FO sacrifices the rest of the group...and Lord knows we need another Pro Bowl LT to be competitive anyway. Then we get a RT in the 2nd round, grab a quality FA, or possibly convince Levi to switch in order to remain a starter. I doubt Levi will start at LT again in his career anyway tho I could be dead wrong.

I would if I were Detroit. Their O-line is lacking. Might as well get the best O-lineman in the draft to protect Stafford.

I would also say we don't need to add much talent on defense as much as add much better coaching on defense. A quality FS to replace Landry and possibly a quality LB should do the trick. Wilson looked dec at OLB and certainly has the size to play the position, and would be coming into his 2nd year at the position.

I think that even if Okung were available we're not taking him. I think we'll go OL in the 2nd round and probably 4th (3rd if we can trade back into there). But my gut feeling tells me we're not taking Okung in the first round.

SS, what three players make your gut tingle then? Personally, as much as we need OL help -- I dont know if Okung is a long term LT in this league. Maybe Im wrong, you'd know far more about that than I would. I actually love Suh (he'll be gone) and Berry with the pick. Not sure if either will be available. Then I like Pike in the 2nd, but would be thrilled if we get the top G or good T in the 2nd.

If we don't draft Okung with the #4, then I would want the team to trade down. Now that Allen is in charge, I would hope to have a more savvy front office that would get a good price (multiple picks) for that #4.

Everyone says trade down, but when was the last time a team traded into the top 5? Was it recently? What was the compensation? I have a feeling we can say trade down all we want, but it takes two to tango, and very few teams are willing to move up. It takes too much green to sign the player and picks to move up.

Last year Mark Sanchez, don't recall the compensation the Jets gave the Browns

The Jets traded their first- and second-round choices (17 and 52), plus three marginal players - defensive end Kenyon Coleman, quarterback Brett Ratliff and safety Abram Elam.

I feel like we should trade back down. Imagine if a team came at us with a Cleveland/Jets type scenario where they give us a guy (maybe decent o-line guy?) and an additional first round pick so that would give us two first rounders as well as a decent prospect? Like maybe Seattle with their two first rounders and a guy like Ray Willis if they were willing to do that because they might want to move up for an Okung or top qb prospect? As asinine as that sounds it's all about that trade value chart and the fourth pick could net a decent offering. I feel we need to trade down and pick up more draft choices and build with that instead of taking whatever top prospect is available at #4.

I think so, unless they think Spiller is worth taking at #4 which I don't think they do. If they don't take a QB in the first round then I wouldn't rule out Jevan Snead if he declares. He could be there in the 4th and he has a lot of the qualities Shanahan likes.

A real sleeper could be Rolando McClain

But I haven't really heard any names being mentioned yet. Last year at this time I heard a lot of Brian Cushing...who, of course, wasn't the pick
