Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
He hasn't made any noise about it so far. What is going to change?
Cause it's May. Wait til a few games have been played and he'll be throwing someone under the bus if he's not getting the ball. No way this team is going to keep both CP and LJ. |
Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
Think if we picked him up we would now have the two Eagles responsible for most of our losses to them over the past 7 or so years.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
^^agreed on that point.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
When was he ever healthy though? :D
Since 04 I'm sure Westbrook and CP are close to the amount of games they've played. I'd rather have Westbrook and give him 5-10 carries and use him more out of the backfield. Kinda like NE uses Faulk. Let Parker and LJ get the rest of the carries. |
Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
I think that Brian Westbrook would be a much better third down back than Albert Haynesworth would be.
|
Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
Chris Russell said that Bruce Allen and he were already scheduled to talk at an area high school, so it's probably just a matter of convenience that they're talking now, as they could've met up at any other point withing the past couple of months.

We're playing Haynesworth at free safety, anyway. |

And McNabb at TE. Our new starting QB is actually Ethan Albright. Orakpo is the new kicker and Kemo is the new punter. |
When has he ever been all that unhealthy
Westbrook games played by year 2009- 8 games 2008 14 2007 15 2006 15 2005 12 2004 13 2005 15 2004 15
Yeah. you just proved my point. Even when younger he never made it through an entire season. Also, I'm not sure he can be as productive in a system that focuses more on the run (or at least doesn't pass 70% of the time like with Reid). He was often the Eagles most productive receiver. |

'Rak can probably kick the ball further than some of the kickers we've had...namely Suisham. |
Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
might be useful as a 3rd down back for screens, but nothing else at this point
|
Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
I think this is a great idea...just like someone suggested an older WR helps out in training camp...specifically with running routes and playing Defense, Westbrook would certainly show when to release from the backfield.
McNabb to Westbrook is one of the greatest West coast QB/RB tandem in history...to show how that is done in practice is priceless...even if he doesn't make the team...imagine Roger Craig and Montana together showing a new team how it is done in training camp.... And think about this....yeah, he is old...but if the guy gets 5-8 carries a game instead of 25...think of how much less wear and tear that is. I actually think he could be one of the most ideal 3rd down backs in the league...his only question is health....but didn't we gamble on Mike Williams? And just think..he was a "BUST". Westbrook has played at the highest level and was easily the most dangerous offensive threat to a team that has gotten to the NFC championship 5 times. There is no way the eagles would have done that without Westbrook...they didn't have the WR's and RB's to do that without Westbrooks versitality. Remember...players individually sometimes flop when going to new teams...but it is the teamwork that creates champions. I say go for it...screw it...keep 5 RBs if you have to....we certainly are going to need someone to be a quick target for a pass with a projected weak Oline. Have you ever seen Shanny with heavy RB experience?...it is the opposite of his MO...for good reason...he is compensating for the oline... GO FOR IT...sign Westbrook....risk is near ZERO! |
Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
Whatever the FO thinks is best I'm for, competition is a beautiful thing, he's had a few concussions thou.

Re: Brian Westbrook Meeting with Redskins on Wednesday
I agree with Skinsnut. In for a penny In for a pound. Plus I really wouldnt mind socking it to Philly with a couple of players they released "1 year sooner rather than later". I hate their FO and the praise they get for being absolutely uncaring about player loyalty, and if we could take them for a year and run it up their a** I would be ok with that. :)
PS I am not saying you don't take age into account, just that some players deserve a little loyalty (ie dawkins/westbrook/heck even McNabb) |
