I am saying it has been commercialized and therefore cheapened. Do you disagree with this take? Is saying so an issue for you?

I don't see the commercialized aspect, after all, it happens at nearly every sport from little league to pro, and nearly every country. Yeah the SB tries to put national names up there, and pretty much fail each time, but the simple act of singing a country's national anthem before a sporting event isn't cheapening it.

No, you have every right to say the silliest things. :cheeky-sm

Associating the national anthem with the SuperBowl, commercializes it. Anything that is commercialized is cheapened to an extent, IMO. It becomes commonplace and over hyped for the wrong reasons.

Keep at it, you will get there eventually and get my rational. Or you could just read SS33's post and the reason why everyone does it now...in doing so you just might realize everything I have said is far from "silliest things."

Totally agree, that "performance" was far more offensive to me than the anthem.

She F... up the verse. I have no problem with that. She did not do that nonsense on purpose and if she could get that moment back....she would! I have a bigger problem with the "personalization" of the National Anthem. IMO sing like it is, don't interpret...just MO. If I were the NFL, I would demand to hear the version that will be sung at the game, before game day.
BUT OMG....I have NEVER seen a worse half time show
FAIL.........NFL

That was right at the start of the first Iraq war so it was an emotional time with or without the NA. I'm just saying in general people do not get all worked up over the NA.

That too.

Re: The Correct Singing Of The National Anthem

I think in the future they should just have a regular singer, someone who will perform the national anthem as it is written, and sung in the traditional sense.

No need to put all the bullshit on it and all the crazy vocal runs. Just sing it nice and normal.

This police officer did a fine job.

On a funny note, watch this guy. Also a police officer, he hilariously butchers most of the words, while keeping the melody intact.

That was on again last night and it was funny as hell. I like when he checked her after singing the NA.

If you care here is the "correct" way. I don't care anymore.

This is ridiculous, no one has a monopoly on how to sing it correctly...they are all renditions...just have some talent and say the words and you'll do fine.

^Agreed. As long as you aren't pulling a Roseanne and being flat out disrespectful.

By the way, I was reclining my last flight. I was hoping you were sitting behind me.
Actually there is. AR 600-25 and AR 220-90 and of course SHEET Music.
These two regulations only apply to Army soldiers, not the general public. The "AR" stands for army regulation. AR 670-1 refers to a soldier's appearance, we don't expect everyone to follow the haircut and mustache guidelines set in this manual.
